Vibes. Such a gorgeous little bookshop, well curated. And could you ask for a more picturesque view from the children's section? Post up in the coffee shop couch area or sit looking out through the window, which has a handy pair of binoculars on the counter.

Book store was nice but we went for rhe coffee shop. The cashier was friendly and helpfull. The little nook they reserved for the coffee shop was cute. They so had a few house special drinks that I tried. I have the Folden owl which tasted like a bit Spicer Chai latte. They also had binoculars to take in the great view.

Wonderful book store with very friendly staff. They also have coffee and snacks. They will gift wrap as well. Some interesting history on the store if you ask. Will stop here again when on the island.

Very nice book store in downtown. Espresso coffee stand inside is also outstanding with great coffee and small selection of snacks. Place to sit down and enjoy your cup.

Opened for 35+ years, Darvill’s is an independent bookstore that’s a must-hit stop during every island visit. It stocks all the standards, but their fantastic selection of local island and PNW theme books and magazines will inspire you to explore the area deeper.They have a coffee stand in the back. And the coffee was way better than I expected from a cute spot in a tourist zone. My oat milk latte made with Batdorf & Bronson’s signature blend, Dancing Goats, was fantastic!

Not just an independent bookstore in a lovely little village, this is your favorite quirky loving Aunt’s living room, kitchen and library full of wonderful smells, warm hugs, and shelves full of delightful books. The owner made us feel like part of the family, not just in the shop but a part of the community…a community—by the way—full of artists and authors well represented within in this cozy store.

Such a fantastic store! I can't resist a bookstore and this is a good one, great selection and beautiful set up, plus gifts and some lovely blankets. There's a sweet coffee shop in the back corner, just everything you could hope for. If this were a Hallmark movie, the heroine would work here.

Early Monday morning, no customers in the store, coffee shop closed and I came in to buy some postcards and take a quick important phone call in a quiet space tucked in the back of the coffee shop. And yet I was rudely interrupted by an employee and asked to finish my call because “this isn’t want this space is for”. No signs or indications that you can’t take a phone call. Even though I was quiet and clearly not disrupting anyone (since there was no one was in the store) they were extremely rude! If this is your policy, please put a sign up - you’re a bookstore, not a library. Would not recommend for anyone looking to take a call or quietly use your laptop.

The ladies who run this place are amazingly friendly, and the gift wrapping is free. I bought myself a couple books and had them gift wrapped because it felt good. What lovely gifts I've given me. ☺

They had a lot of awesome books on display, along with thoughtful reviews and recommendations. We came the week before the lit fest and a lot of books were being highlighted. There is also a coffee shop in the back with excellent drinks. Probably the best cortado on the island. We went a couple of times just for the coffee.

This is such an awesome and friendly bookstore/coffee place. The coffee was delicious, they have a vsriety of cool items, great books, and the staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. One of them, Kelly, was there everyday we went and she was awesome. Thanks for your hospitality!

I walked into this little bookstore and fell in love. Cute displays and the wonderful smell of coffee from the back. Awesome views from the back windows. I had to look at EVERYTHING. It’s magic. ✨ even on vacation with limited suitcase space, I had to support them by buying a book. Loved the bookmarks up front made by local artists. Staff was warm and welcoming. Cant wait to come back some day! ❤️

This is one of my favorite book stores in the whole world. I have tons of childhood memories coming here, and every time I hit the island it's one of my first stops. They have a gorgeously curated selection of books, and their magazine rack is bar none. I remember discovering Lucky Peach #1 here and losing my mind. I've found so many gems in this book shop and am sure to find many more in the years to come.

Great bookstore that has been on the island for a long time. They have a much bigger selection than you might think. Also a great kids section with lots of stories about whales, the islands, etc. The coffee shop is cute but seating is limited. Also an interesting selection of magazines.

A must visit on Orcas Island. Quaint store with million dollar view of East sound waterfront. So nice and organized with tons of book selections. Super nice coffee shop inside to enjoy while you browse. Courteous knowledge staff. The entire town of East Sound is like a movie set! Don't miss this store when you visit!

This is a dangerous store!!!! You will have a hard time leaving with only one thing. I really enjoyed the selection, though limited by space. I go for more fantasy and sci-fi novels. There was a better selection of children's books!The types of books are very numerous, though, don't get me wrong. Seemed like most categories were represented to some degree. Very cleverly arranged laid out *just so* here, laid on a counter there, or next to this other book that maybe you could also take home? Well marketed, ladies.Plenty of stationary, too, which is impossible to resist. Cute locally-made cards and art work. Beautiful packs of greeting cards, or note cards. Thoughtfully made notebooks. Games placed strategically for kids or adults. Little toys and artsy puzzles. Bits of art work that would look really cute on your office desk, or tucked into a corner of your bathroom- surely you have room for more frames!I went in for one thing. I didn't find it, but I did walk out with a full tote bag with enough treasures to have earned the tote for free!Beware walking in- you WILL find something to purchase. Probably several!

I always love exploring the bookstore any time I'm on the island. It's great to grab a cup of coffee from the espresso stand inside and peruse for a while. There are great books all about, but also the fantastic little gem you don't find just anywhere. Today, we purchased a couple of books about orcas and a memory game where you match the poop to the animal it came from! Hilarious! At Darvill's, we always find the expected, as well as the delightfully unexpected.

Love the coffee, couches, staff, atmosphere .... Oh yeah and the books, this is a bookstore right?! : ) This is an essential stop for us every time we visit the island. We like to stay at the Landmark on Orcas Island, and then walk down to the shop's like Darvill's. In the winter, it's nice to come here and cozy up watching the sound roil, while you drink your coffee and read something amazing. Good selection of books. Real books. Made with paper too.

Compassionate and well read workers define books with an aptitude that leaves you enchanted and ready to devour your multiple purchases. Please, do check out the employee favorites sections. I was happy I did. This all can be accompanied by your very own perfect cup of coffee, perfect pastry, and cozy chair.
