Refused to see my dog because he had been seen at a different vet before. Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Also some of the rudest people I have ever met. Absolutely do not recommend this vet whatsoever.

I will be taking my kitties elsewhere. My kitty went in for neutering. In at 2:00 and they called and texted both!!! by 2:30 that he was ready to go. I have had cats my whole life and never, ever had a vet neuter or spay and "push" the animal out the door within 30 minutes. To be fair, I was told it would be a short time but I told them I had an errand to run and would be right back. I have always taken my kitties in and then they stayed for observation afterwards. Not 20 minutes!!!....I was warned about this place beforehand and I should have listened. To be fair...again...the staff was very friendly, the surgery went well. However, both times I went there, the place was completely empty, by the way. If you want animal lovers? Go somewhere else. If you want straight no nonsense assembly line surgery? This is your place.

I have been contemplating for months whether or not I should actually leave a review, since I didn't have any concrete evidence that they mistreated my dog. This last spring, I boarded my dachshund here for 6 nights, she no longer has the use of her back legs, as of about 2 months before I boarded her here. When I got her back, I was appalled at the condition by little dog was in. She was emaciated and had somehow lost weight in the little time she was there, and her hair was matted and she couldn't stop having diarrhea everywhere. The care they provide here is bottom of the barrel. They charged me the max amount possible, citing it was because they had to bathe my dog every day. If they had taken her outside to go to the bathroom, and provided her with the amount of care necessary, the baths wouldn't have been needed. They prescribed an unnecessary medication that my dog was to take indefinitely, but my regular vet said that medication was not needed, and completely unnecessary. They are obvious money grubbers, only looking to extort you and not take care of your pet. Do NOT take your pet here if you care about them, especially if they have even the most minor of medical needs. Took days for my dog to seem like her old self. These people should be out of business.

I made a last minute appointment this week for my dog. I was initially surprised that I was able to get in so quickly and that the office was empty when I arrived, but it makes sense now!We went in to have a half-centimeter wide skin growth on my dog looked at. It had appeared and grown rapidly in the last two months or so, along with my dog losing weight and some other symptoms in the same time frame. They took her back by herself because the vet didn’t want any “distractions”, in fact I never even spoke to the vet, just the women out front. The appointment lasted about 20-25 minutes, then one of the girls came out they said nothing about her growth, just handed me an estimate for about $1400 to have it removed and biopsied. They never said anything about it, not even that it was concerning, literally told me nothing. Absolutely awful experience. And a total waste of $109.

The absolute Worst! I brought my sweet little bechon in there. She was having a seizure. And the vet was soooo rude! He totally acted like he couldn't be bothered. And looks at me and said "what do you want me to do about it ". With tiers running down my face I wrapped her up and left. They say everything happens for a reason and it did. I found a nother vet and his wonderful.

I have a small older dog that was experiencing some toothpain. She also had a weird lump on her belly I was worried about. I took her in for an exam and I was told it would be a head to tail exam. After her "exam" she was prescribed an antibiotic for her tooth infection. They would not tell me what all was wrong inside of her mouth and I needed to pay for another exam to have the lump on her belly looked at. The exam had cost me $150 and I left feeling like she didnt get the Proper exam I had paid for. I was struggling financially and had expressed that ahead of time. I was not told what work she needed done in her mouth, only that it would cost me somewhere around $3000. They would tell me nothing about the lump on her belly until i paid for another exam. People should not be told their beloved pet is getting a head to tail exam when that is clearly not the case. I would not recommend this place unless you enjoy wasting your money. I left very disappointed, not knowing anymore about her health status then when I arrived.

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Did everything possible to help my pet, clear and upfront about costs. They don't take every penny from you like other vets do. Will be bringing all my pets here now.

I’m not sure why they have only 3.5 stars. I’ve been bringing my pets here for years and they are reasonably priced and offer great care.

We have been coming to Dr. Bill for over 4 years. The staff is wonderful and caring. Our animals love coming to see them. They treat our babies with nothing but compassion and care. Dr. McGaffey saved our Bessie girl multiple times and when he finally couldn’t save her, he and the whole staff grieved with us. He is a man of integrity and will do whatever necessary to help. They have seen us in an emergency situation and NEVER once did anyone say anything about having to stay late or we can’t help you because its closing time. They did what they needed to and stayed as long as they were needed. They may be a bit pricey but it is so worth it knowing they will do everything they can to help our kiddos. I have read some of these bad reviews and can’t believe they are talking about the same place we have been going to for so long. I have never seen the staff, including Dr. Bill, be anything but courteous, friendly, caring, and knowledgeable. So I don’t believe any of those people or anything they say.

I have NEVER had such a horrible experience in my life!! We couldn't get into our reg vet so we these guys said we could get in today. Our dog has an ear infection she is a pitpull who has anxiety we asked if we could go in and the Dr said no. The assistant comes out saying they will not work on her without putting her out to the tune of 386.00 because they could not work on her and besides she peed on the tech. Who in their right mind would not let an owner come in to be with a dog who has anxiety. Don't waste your time with this vet!

Horrible experience! Their bottom line is about the money. I told them I had a max of $500 to spend on our elderly dog. I asked for expert advice. After taking my money and giving me a short term fix they turned me away unless I wanted to spend $600 more on X-rays. Our dog is 15 years old and just needs something to help with pain. NOT A $600 X-ray!

Today, I had to make difficult choice to put my sweet kitty to sleep after many years of love and companionship. My regular vet was out of town and I could not wait as kitty was suffering. It was a heartbreaking decision especially since I just lost my dad 2 weeks ago. I called, barely able to speak and explained our situation. The patience, kindness and compassion by the staff that was shown to me and kitty was amazing. Truly I felt as though my pain and Margaret's pain was understood. Thank you for taking care of my little Margaret. She is resting in the forest near the chipmunks she so loved to watch. When I am over the heartache and ready for another fur baby... my pet will be your patient! ❤

No stars if possible. The staff were pleasant. After taking my dog into a room away from me, 5 minutes or less later the MD Dr McGaffe informs me that my dog who is a Male although the MD does not realize this and keeps repeating " She" throughout and he replies "Its an animal what does it matter"charges me 100 dollars for exam and wants 700 more dollars to scope his ears for cheet or seeds. My last vet charged less than 300 for same problem last summer. This Dr seems out for money. Very quiet not busy unlike my normal vet. Would not recommend 😕😐😒 I would like to add that some of the vets actually reply or acknowledge the reviews they get. This MD McGaffe said that everyone has there own opinions and could care less. I am returning to Deer Park Vet

My husband and I would like to thank the Deer Park Animal Medical Center for the past 11 years of loving care that our dog Sofie received from Dr. McGaffey and his wonderful staff. I always knew that Sofie was receiving the best of care whether she was there for medical reasons or for boarding. You made us feel welcome the first time we walked through the door with a dog that had been sprayed by a skunk. Thank you again.

My friend took her dog in, who isn’t extremely old, because they were having an issue. We’re told by this guy that the dog would need surgery or need to be put down. My friend was not ready to put her dog down but decided to get a second opinion from the only other vet place in deer park .The second vet(opposit side of deer park from the first) told her, her dog only had diabetes and that the surgery that they were told the dog needed was completely unnecessary. So this guy was ready to not only cause more issues for my friends dog but also charge 6000 dollars for a surgery the dog didn’t need, and he was ready to just kill the dog too.Don’t bring your pets here unless the only solution you want is to be told you need to put your dog down unnecessarily.

I called to ask about the cost of having my little dogs anal glands squeezed. I was told that it would have to be done by the doctor, NOT their vet tech. The doctors visit would be $57 and the anal glands would be $29.60. Now times that by 2 dogs, that would be $173.20. ... Going and having it done with a vet tech, it's ranges from $19 to $23. Now times that by 2, it would be $38 to $46. What do their vet techs do, stand around and watch? These guys are way too far out there in left field.Found that Deer Park Veterinary Clinic only charges $20, so you know where I'm going.Update: You're correct by saying I'm not a client! . . As you can see by my review, I REFUSED TO PAY YOUR OVER INFLATED PRICES, SO OF COURSE I'M NOT A CLIENT..

My husband took our dog here for an ear infection, the vet said he has a yeast infection in one ear that could be treated and an inner ear infection in the other ear. He said we will need to do surgery on that ear you have 2 choices one is $500 the other is $800 which I recommend, you need to decide what you want to do before I treat him. He did not give him anything for the pain and did not treat the other ear even. I told my friends and they said we haven’t heard much good about that Vet you should get a second opinion from our Vet (Deer Park Vetrinary Clinic). So after work I took him there the same day. They treated the one ear and gave me prescriptions for the other antibiotics, anti inflammatory and pain pills, and only charged me $110 bucks. I gave him the pills and he got better almost right away it has been about 3 weeks now and he is doing just fine with no surgery! The other place by the way charged us $260 for an examination and tests and did nothing at all to help him!

Edited to add: I wrote this scathing review not for the purpose of getting even with Dr. McGaffey but to protect other innocent pet lovers from having the same experience as so many of us have had with him.I warn as many people as possible to avoid this vet clinic. I will never take an animal here again. Even if it is dying! It's cheaper to let it die at home than take it to a stressful appointment that will cost way too much $$$$ for a fake treatment! He wants your pet to stay sick so he can continue to make money off of you. Unfortunately, I had to have my own horrible experience with him before hearing the same story from several long time Deer Park residents. Here's the long story:When I was new to the Deer Park area, I took my sick colt in to see Dr. McGaffey. My colt had an infection in his joint that usually costs about $300 to treat at a respectable vet clinic. I knew what my colt's problem was but wasn't familiar with the treatment options (which allowed the Dr. to take advantage of the situation.) He told me he wouldn't treat my colt without doing $1000 worth of testing first. (This is not an exageration!) When I broke down crying because I didn't have that kind of money, he had the nerve to ridicule me for thinking this was going to be a cheap appointment! He sent me home after charging me about $400 for the appointment and a tiny bottle of antibiotics. Fast forward 2 weeks, my baby horse is almost dead and I've given up hope thinking I've done everything I could possibly do. As friends hear my story, they are shocked to learn I took my colt to see Dr. McGaffey and I start hearing horror story after horror story. Even though I was out of money and hope, my friend convinced me to call Deer Park Vet Clinic and tell them my story. The vet knew exactly what the problem was with just my description and only charged me the cost of the medication. With 1 treatment from the other vet clinic, my baby was cured 100%!Even if there are no other options, I will NEVER take an animal back to Deer Park Animal Medical Center because as my friend said, and I can now testify, it's better to let them die at home for free than pay lots of money to draw out their suffering at the hands of a money hungry vet.

We had a 2:30 appointment recently within the last week, my 12 year old cat, butters, had somehow gotten an abscess on her cheek and hadn’t been eating or drinking for at least a day. I, being a concerned cat mom, made the appointment knowing they closed at 4. I had been quoted $57 over the phone for the vet visit and everything after would be added on. In the end it was about $79.50 just for the vet to see her, and all he did was check her temp, and look at her cheek. (the surgery to open and drain the abscess was about $600 or could be given 2 shots for about $177). My best friend who lives on the other side of the state offered to pay for the vet visit and medication. she was asking about information on weather or not the shots Butters would be given would be worth it or if the surgery would be better (she’s talking to one of the vet techs at this time) the vet tech proceeded to say “let me look into my crystal ball, yea I can’t see into the future”. The phone was then given back to me, my friend was appalled by the way she was spoken to for asking simple/reasonable questions. It appeared that the vet tech was more worried about getting the money for butters shots, because they charge extra if they go over 4 pm (at this time it’s almost 3), then answering reasonable questions.. altogether I wouldn’t recommend this place due to the unnecessary rudeness we experienced.UPDATE: so today I had to put my loving, strong beautiful cat butters down all because the "vet" was too afraid to open her mouth and look to see if she had teeth problems. My cat had to be put to sleep because she had BONE CANCER. I am mad because I and my husband had ask Dr. McGaffey to look inside her mouth becuase we felt he jaw abcess was cause from the inside. But becuase of high ego, "they knew better." The vet clinic we took her to to put her down even gave us a comment of disgust knowing we first took her here. This was wrong on our part for trusting them, but they were wrong for neglecting us and our cat Butters.

Horrible experience and outrageous prices. Had to take my dog to another clinic to undo the mess they created and give my dog the proper treatment he needed to heal for less than half the price.
