We have been been in contact with this breeder for 15years. We have acquired precious family members from Wakon. Lisa has taken over since Marlene’s passing, Rest In Peace. Lisa has been amazing in communication and care of these animals. The dogs are beyond wonderful in every way, if your looking, I highly recommend a malamute from Wakon

We just picked up our pup yesterday and he’s an absolute DREAM! Lisa took over for Marlene and she was sooooo great to work with! Very friendly, responsive, professional, everything. Our pup has been an angel- temperament is so loving, calm and very quiet. All the dogs at the farm were super happy and healthy. We love our pup so much! High recommend this breeder!

I am writing this morning truly saddened and disappointed with what we just experienced as a family. We found out about Wakon Malamutes through a friend who has a beautiful three year old male from Marlene, called her and paid a deposit for a female: 6 months later and one week ago 6/18/21 we got to pick up our sweet baby girl who our 7 year old son named Callie. She was beautiful, we loved her and she loved us, she loved our 10 year old pit bull Obie (who has been a member of our family for 10 years) she loved our two cats and she lit up our lives for the one week that she was able to be in our family. Unfortunately this morning our sweet little Callie had to be put to sleep, we couldn’t bear for her to suffer any longer through the pain that Marlenes neglect caused her. This was a very hard decision to make: we gave her the best chance she had at a healthy life. Three vet visits and one major surgery later the outlook wasn’t positive. Ultimately our sweet baby succumbed to parasites and Intussusception. Marlene knew our baby was sick: she sent us home with medication telling us that it was to help with diarrhea caused by diet change. This neglect needs to be stopped. Marlene please, this was very hard on us: you truly should stop breeding puppies and subjecting families to this heartbreak. Please to anyone reading this, do not believe that Marlene cares for you our her animals any longer. Please find someone else that cares and takes good care of their animals. Because what we just went through should be criminal.

Make sure you go visiting the breeder and their barn before you get a dog from them. I went to see the puppy. Almost 80% of the adult dogs there have droopy ears, some have one droopy and one upright. The breeder told us it takes 2-3 years for ears to go upright but this is not what other breeders told us. I am not sure how often they update the photo on their website but the dog pictures are not like what I saw there. And most important- they do NOT do genetic test on their dogs. I asked the genetic tests of the parents and they don't have it. They do accept the refund if your puppy has genetic problem but it's very irresponsible to breed a dog without a genetic test.We ended up getting a dog from other breeder in Oregon. Their 7 week puppies already had upright ears. Barn is very clean and adult dogs look happy. We are glad we did not get a puppy from Wakon. Please please make sure you visit the breeder and take a look at the environment before you putting the deposit.

After putting a 500 dollar deposit, that I lost, I went to see the puppy. First off the dogs are not groomed or well kept. They just looked filthy. The ears on the parents were droopy and when I asked about the ears I was told they can take up to 3 years to raise. I contacted my vet and other breeders and was told if they aren’t up in 6 months they won’t go up. So I was lied to about the ears. Raised ears on a mal are very important and to some a sign of bad breeding. After voicing my complaints I never heard back and never saw my deposit. Do not buy from Marlene. Her dogs used to be the best but she doesn’t care about the dogs anymore. Just the money.

I love Marlene!! She is THE MOST PASSIONATE person I have spoken with about Malamutes. I have visited Wakon twice, while on vacation in the Cascades and absolutely adore all of these magnificent creatures. So giant and so loving. We travel all the way from the East Coast to spend time with Marlene at Wakon. One thing: she is an older woman and you will need to speak loudly-- she will do the talking anyway since she LOVES these dogs!!

Amazing, loveable and energetic dogs. The facility is really clean, just watch for horse poop. Marlene is pretty straight forward so don't wear your heart on your sleeve. Listen to her, she knows what shes doing.

I purchased a puppy from this lady on 12-31-2016, I was told she was 13 weeks old and my receipt showed a birth date if 9-25-16. I was skeptical of a puppy 13 weeks old, in the past I have had 2 malamutes at 8 weeks, never had any problems, This puppy is not sociable and trembles avery time we put her in a car, I thought she just needs more time. After contacting Marline @ Wakon to find out what age she should be coming onto heat she did not recognize my name so I told her I was the person that drive up on new years eve and that she was from the 9-25 litter, Marlene told me she had no litter then but mine was from 9-5 16...that put her @ 16 weeks old without being out of a 12 x12 kennel. My wife and I have been to several trainers which both of them said it my take a year for her to get used to people and that 16 weeks is about the end of being able to socialize her without great difficulty, When I told Marlene about this she ruddy said I and the trainers are crazy. The puppy is now 8 months and still cannot travel or be around people without shying away. If I had known that she was 16 weeks old I never would have purchased her, I would have waited for the next litter. Bottom line is that this woman [ Marlene ] is a LIAR and very rude. She has a wonderful breed of dogs but DO NOT trust what she says.

Beautiful farm. Clean, safe, well kept grounds. Animals very well taken care of. Experienced, loving breeders. They take pride and ownership of every dog, puppy, horse, animal on their farm. We visited the farm and chose our dog. They educated us on the breed. How to take care of them, feed them, train them. They go above and beyond for you and their dogs. They are great! So happy we got our fur baby from them!

60 years and a proven blood line. Needs no testing. Dogs are huge. Folks come from all over the planet to purchase these true Giants. Don't get your feelings hurt if this gal straightens you out. Listen to her. She knows her dogs. And please. Make sure you can accept/accomidate this very special, GIANT breed animal before adopting. They need lots of room to thrive. You simply CAN NOT ditch them in an apartment or a kennell while you work and commute 11 hours a day! They need companionship- they are PACK ANIMALS. They need fFIRM DISCIPLINE!! And EXERCISE! Many times a dog park is out of the question...they are not little fur babies. This is a huge dog with an instinct that is strong. This dog needs acres to run. Daily. And they will run, no joke, so fencing is really a must. Tall fencing! Lots of food and i mean LOTS! They will EAT CATS and other small critters SO THEY MUST MUST BE SOCIALIZED PROPERLY. This is a unique bloodline. Strong amazing sled dogs. Tame but wild. i would imagine they had to feed themselves, to some extent, so instinct kicks in easily. They are BIG! BEAUTIFUL and amazing critters! Definately not your average dog. GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS!!

Extremely rude! She also does not screen her dogs for ANY health problems and as soon as I asked her she started viciously defending her dogs saying that such things are not needed and started talking to me like if I were an idiot for being concerned for their health! Then she pretended that the line was breaking up and laughed while she HUNG UP ON ME! TWICE

It's on a horse and dog ranch so bring your gumboots but the pens, runs and nursing areas are well looked after and clean, the dogs are obviously well cared for and get ample affection and care, they are all raised in the out doors with good cover and chips for bedding, wonderful location, Marlene is great with her charges and her web site speaks for her experience
