First time and it was really good. Food was good and fast and service was excellent. Sergio took care of us along with a waitress, with “hope” tattooed on her forearm, she knows who she is! Highly recommend and will be returning!

Expensive for what you get. Everything on the menu is $15 dollars or higher unless you get just a side order of something like a taco for $5. It's unfortunate that businesses have to charge so much. Service was grand and no complaints on the taste of the food. Enjoyed the Mexican water. The margaritas left something to be desired though. But if you're looking for Mexican up in Chewelah this is the place.

Good service, cold drinks, great food. Our daughter loves this place, it's where her birthday's will be until she decides otherwise. All the servers are amazing, Sergio and Hector are good folks and make the place feel like a "cheers" setting. Especially if your a local....much love y'all thanks for the service see ya soon

This was one of the best Mexican restaurants we've been to. In a little town in the middle of nowhere to boot. We were blown away by the stellar service, the freshness of the ingredients, the variety available, and the fantastic tableside conversation. I'm impressed, and if you're ever in this area, it's a winner. 😁Vegetarian options: Vegetarian fajitas were bomb.Dietary restrictions: No peanut products

My 15.00 bowl of soup was less than mediocre. The soup had obviously been frozen at one time, the potatoes were mealy and grainy, the carrots fared slightly better.Don't expect true to its roots food here, it has all been whitewashed for the general public of the area.

When we arrived, there was only 1 waitress staffing the restaurant. There was only 3 or 4 customers but that must've overwhelmed her because she never once came to ask us if we needed soda refills. That probably should have been a clue right there, at 6:00pm there's only four people in a restaurant that could hold 80! We were given cold chips, a stringy tomato puree, and a glass of water that tasted like it was straight from the canal. When I opened the menu my jaw hit the floor. Understand this, I'm an avid restaurant goer. I enjoy sampling people's food creations and I don't mind paying them well for it but there's a reason why Taco Bell does not charge $15 for a crispy taco. Apparently El Ranchito didn't get that message. This place is extremely expensive! A person with a fairly small appetite is going to pay $30 per person to eat here. Absurd! If this food was exquisite with huge portions and mind-blowing flavors with beautiful ambiance, then $30 may not be a bad deal, right? But this was far from mind blowing. Instead of being hot snot on a silver platter, this was a cold booger on a paper plate. My wife ordered the Ranchito special enchilada with their signature peanut butter red sauce. It sounds strange but like I said, we enjoy tasting people's food creations! It was big - but it tasted like week old freezer burnt chicken with wilted lettuce. The peanut butter red sauce reminded me of McDonald's sweet and sour sauce. This was supposed to be their authentic, Mexican, spicy red sauce, for their signature enchilada. FAIL.That single enchilada was $20. No rice and beans on the side, no extra toppings or anything like that, it is $20 as it comes. I planned on getting a three item combo, but that would've been $34.00! Want sour cream? $2.50 per item that it is placed on. Guacamole? $3.50 per item. Since when does a tablespoon of sour cream cost $2.50? Ludicrous! You can get 16 oz at Safeway for $1.99!A simple two item combo with rice and beans was $28! How does anybody in this area afford to eat like that? And, it definitely doesn't taste like $28! Taco Bell is a MUCH better option.I had their biggest offering on a plate and I will fully give credit, their Spanish rice was authentic and amazing because it was slightly crispy like it is an Old Mexico. If you've ever visited the Mexican interior you know that rice is made, then stored and served several days in a row. It's on that second or third day that the rice tastes so amazing because it's got a slight crispiness to it from airing out on the table three or four times during repeated family dinners. The rice was very good at El ranchito. But that's about as far as it goes. And, it sort of made me wonder how they achieved that crunchiness in their rice when in Mexico, that crunchiness is a product of the rice being taken out of the refrigerator and heated and placed on the family table and then leftovers put back into the refrigerator and then the next day being taken back out and reheated and put on the table for dinner and then leftovers put back in the refrigerator again. For a family that's acceptable, for a commercial eating establishment, not so much! The worst thing at El Ranchito was that my drink and dinner was nearly $40. One plate, one drink. So, 1/3 of my meal was supposed to be extremely tasty carne asada. Instead, it was mushy and LITERALLY rotten. I'm telling you now, that meat had to have been left out for several days and then heated up and put on my plate. I almost got sick, seconds away from vomiting. My wife could smell it from across the table and that ended her half eaten dinner! So now, we have spent $70 and at least $30 of our dinner is either inedible or going to be uneaten because of the repulsiveness of this steak.I fought sour stomach symptoms for several hours. I will never go there again! Drive another 10 minutes and go to Rancho Chico in Colville, get seriously good Mexican food for 2/3 the price, the ambiance is great and the staff are friendly and plentiful.

Went recently, food was OK. Nothing special. $20+ per person just for food, not counting drinks. Server was pushy and didn’t refill drinks. Atmosphere is nothing special either. Way pricier and not nearly as good as the Mexican restaurant in nearby Colville. You’re better off driving a little further than stopping here.

The food was delicious and portions were just the right size. They have selections for beef, chicken, healthy, house specials, and a large vegetarian section. The bathrooms were pretty dirty and the decor was old but it's pretty much the only stop through Chewelah. The wait staff were great!
