This is a beautiful store! Employees are friendly, helpful, and approachable. The inside is immaculate, well-stocked, and aesthetically pleasing. The people in the bakery assisted me with my cupcakes order, assuring me that any number of cupcakes, no matter how odd, could be easily filled, whether ten, twelve, sixteen, or more. I shopped early in the morning and it was not busy at all. The produce looked especially appealing and fresh. I had no trouble finding everything I needed.

Normally i go to yokes but decided to go here for dinner ingredients. Got a package of steaks that looked fine and were packaged that same day but when I started prepping the steaks, ALL of them were brown and one had dark purple spots and the steaks were slimy…SPOILED. i don’t understand how they can sell spoiled meat.

The self checkout woman came up to me during checkout and asked “did you pay for those?” I find it quite rude to subtly accuse people of stealing on no basis. I only got four things and they were obviously all paid for.

Pretty nice selection, although the cold drinks section is very minimal and the bread is sort of hidden away all the way in the back left. They've never been out of anything I buy regularly though which is always a good sign. I would definitely like to see an aisle to choose any drink I'd like however, and not just what's on the three shelves for drinks.

Large and varied selection. Sushi is great. Deli has awesome deals. Huge beer aisle and wine inventory. This location has really improved in the past year. Only did 4 stars because the price hikes recently. Nice people- Freindly customer service was a pleasure to deal with.

My family and I have always enjoyed shopping with the Cheney Safeway for over 10 years. However, today we had a very uncomfortable visit as we were followed around the entire store by some guy, and I mean followed into every aisle until we headed for self checkout. Come to find out he was working security for “loss prevention.” Now, being followed in this manner makes us feel we were being discriminated. There has to be better policy’s put into place for these 3rd party security companies to allow customers to shop comfortably, and without a disturbance. I’m sticking with a 5 star because we are loyal shoppers, the staff are always friendly, and we enjoy coming here!

Living behind them is rough. So much litter everywhere from them. I wish their team would prevent it and take care of it. Literally pounds of trash in the waterways and pond behind them because of their cardboard bales and how they deal with their trash.

I've tried to be understanding around being understaffed, but today was the last day. Took more than 45 minutes to checkout, as there was only one checker and half their self checkout machines were down. One of which broke as I was scanning my groceries. Was told it'd be faster to get in the actual checkout line before they got it fixed, it wasn't. Also, the cashier made me unpack all my bagged groceries from the self checkout despite the fact the conveyor belt was full with everyone's else stuff. And on top of it, too many times have I come home with expired or moldy products. Yokes from on.

I like the store for the most part but I cannot stand when I see the EXACT same product in one store that is much cheaper than the other! Safeway is more expensive than others on most things, yet they are cheaper on some. I seem to find more items at Safeway that are marked up much more than othIer stores unfortunately....I wonder why that is? Do the vendors charge different amounts to each of the stores?? Anyway, I'll still come back most likely ☺

I have no idea what is going on with that deli but the customer service is terrible. The newer reps are personable but the ones who have been around for a while are nasty.

After gathering my items, and going to the register to pay for them; my card was having issues. The associate helping me offered to hold my groceries until I may return. I told him that I should be no longer than 15 minutes and excused myself. I came back inside ready to pay and he then told me everything was put away "because there were a few refrigerated items." THEN SIR WHY DID YOU PROMISE ME TO HOLD MY THINGS? I then had to go to work and not buy any of my groceries.I guess morale of why I'm upset is that the associate offered to hold my things, and didn't follow through.

Clean and friendly, but also very helpful. Update: still great service at this store would not change anything. Update: it's really amazing how staff remembers its daily your regular customers they remember me and my son since he was 1 years old and the fact that they still remember and always say hi or asks about him when he's not there in my eyes is great customer service and it shows how much they appreciate their customers.

Had to look for things and not familiar with layout. Use what the manufacturers give them for discounts that should go to all customers but you have to have their card. I avoid Safeway if at all possible due to their pricing and the card 'rewards' garbage.

I'm a truck driver and due to unforseen circumstances I had no where to park. I called Safeway and spoke to Aldo, a manager. He allowed me to park in the back for the weekend. What he didn't know was that I grew up in Cheney and was home for a family emergency. I simply want him to know just how grateful I am. Thank you Safeway

This safeway store IS NOT service animal friendly. I was kicked out because of my service dog so i will never go into this safeway store again. Update: Nothing has changed the store staff are rude as ever.

The store is packed with ailes and poorly laid out. I think the staff in all departments are overworked and pushed to their limits. Staff is good overall for what they have been through but darn that inside layout is suffocating and it is kinda dirty inside and outside.😑

Semi expensive comparatively to others near by. What sets then apart is the sales that randomly happen. If you watch sales you can save a decent amount. Store is always clean and staff are friendly.

My son and I have lived in Cheney since 2015 and I have always had a good experience shopping here. The Pharmacy is great. Very friendly people and the bakery staff are always friendly. My son gets a cookie almost every time we are there.

Safeway has always amazed me with their large selection and varieties of produce, dry goods and every other type of groceries. Their organic and natural foods offerings keep me from having to travel twenty miles to the specialty stores. Although I only visit once a month, every visit I see different brands and more selections from companies that have earned the public's trust.

Shelves were sold out of the best sale items but good customer service and when the checkout line got to the aisle they opened another register as needed, so checkout was quicker than most Safeway's I have visited. Prices are really high compared to other local stores.
