Hours were spent!! An amazing collection covering thousands of years. Very well done and unexpected for a small town. My husband and I both heartily recommend a visit!I would like to have some more detail in some of the descriptions and maybe a larger font in some displays for the seniors!😁

Neat little museum with a great outdoor exhibit of a pioneer town.We enjoyed seeing the history of the area. There is a scavenger hunt for kids.Low cost makes it easy to do without killing the budget. You can rush and see everything in an hour or take it easy and really look around and spend a few hours.

This is a self-guided or you can pay $2 for a headset guided tour. With the AAA discount it's $6.50 to get in. There are tons of Indian artifacts and old pioneer buildings that were moved here. Some of them you can actually walk inside and touch the items.

So much more than meets the eye! My sons loved the scavenger hunt with free prizes, and were a bit too old for the complimentary costumes that they loan out to kids, but I can see how they would add a lot of fun to photos out by the cabins for folks with younger kids! The staff is warm and welcoming, exhibits are varied and interesting. There are two floors to explore, and while I enjoyed the upper floor with the Native American artifacts, my kids preferred the lower floor with the gems, minerals, and dioramas with all the animals and birds. The gift shop has a great selection of items for all ages, and I was impressed by how they highlight local authors and artists. Highly recommend!

By far one of the best Native American, pioneer museums I’ve ever been to. Also includes archeological artifacts. This museum has it all for plains Indians and some NW tribes as well as a pioneer village comprised of original log structures from within a 40 mile radius. Don’t miss this! The NYC MET has a native exhibit that is not worth the time. Go here! The exhibit on native plant usage for common ailments was outstanding. The pioneer village has more than 8 log cabins. Wow!!

Very nice museum! Pleasantly surprised. Nice artifacts and well curated. The village out back is displayed with a nice collection of items. The Native American stone-ware collection is impressing for it's volume. but not just foe volume sake; it's well presented and curated. The rock/mineral display is extensive. We are museum geeks and we very much enjoyed this one.

This Museum is well organized, with lots of info & artifacts. The interior is deceptive - what you think will be a simple local museum experience is professional & abundant! The Pioneer Village is really interesting for Kids & Adults alike. Good presentation of Native American Life too. Even some local animal exhibits - including pre-historic! The Treasure Hunt kept our kid's (9) attention well, and was fun. Cute gift shop. Knowledgeable host. I liked that it was self guided with an Audio option. Really quiet - we were the only people there on a Sunday afternoon.

Stop here if you love history and artifacts....you will love it. Inside is large collection of pioneer and Native American collections that explain the areas history. Outside are original cabins and homes to explore, which were moved to the site. It is a very memorable beautiful place to visit. They have AAA, senior and student discounts.

We greatly enjoyed both the outdoor Pioneer Village and the inside Cashmere Museum. The Pioneer Village has several individual buildings spread out over well-kept grounds. Each building is furnished with authentic items and can be viewed looking into them. Some of the buildings can be walked into, including a detailed railroad station and train car.The separate Cashmere Museum has many displays, including Native artifacts, Pioneer artifacts, and some great wildlife displays, and is much bigger than it appears. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We really had a great afternoon exploring it all.We went on a Sunday and there was a fun Farmer's Market in the park across the street.Price for entry: $7.00Ticket type: Adult

Very nice small town museum. There is a small village of historical wooden buildings behind the museum. This is a good place to see old arrow heads and indian artifacts. Some of their display of motars and pestles strongly resemble parts of the male anatomy.

When I read another review that stated that this museum was ā€œWorld-classā€, I thought it was hyperbole. I am here to attest that this statement is a solid FACT, y’all! There are SO many great and important things about this museum that make it a must-see for any traveler-especially families-but there is something here for everyone!I have truly not seen a collection of Pacific NW Native American artifacts as vast as this (ESPECIALLY textiles! The beaded leathers and basketry quality & quantity is stunning) outside of Canada, and even then only at much, much larger institutions. Having said this, everything at this museum is impeccably preserved and beautifully displayed. Those who gathered (apparently some artifacts are literally scavenged from muddy local riverbanks?!), organized, prepared and ultimately displayed these incredibly important and vital historical items and symbols of local Native talent, religious import, work/industry (i.e., there are extensive fishing, trapping, & even weaponry artifacts) & ingenuity have succeeded in preserving an exquisite and unique record of some of the still extant local Nations’ vibrant history. It is obvious that this museum has been the result of a tremendous labor of love on someone’s-or several someones’ part; while at the same time one is struck with how it has been possible to even obtain this extensive collection & what it must be like for someone of Native ancestry to view it behind glass…it is a LOT to take in and I suggest visitors give themselves ample time to browse, read & review the exhibits in order to give it the respect it is due. There is a LOT to see & learn here & a cursory glance just isn’t enough. The museum is easy to walk but is larger than it appears: there are two floors so there are a flight of stairs and there is also an outdoor section that is fascinating as well. The indoor sections deal with: a vast array of beaded leather textiles & baskets, photos, pioneer dioramas, local flora/taxidermied fauna/geology, all other artifacts mentioned above & other various sundry Native & colonial historical artifacts; as well as much more historical information, including photographs & timetables. The outdoor section is huge & is composed of a complete pioneer town-having several open air cabins including a church, jail, post office, dentist/barber, doctor’s office, hotel, milliner, train station, typical home-style cabin, etc.Again, give yourself time to see and enjoy everything and BRING WATER to drink (& for your dog, too!) and a hat/sunscreen/parasol-umbrella as there is NO SHADE outside and Cashmere is typically around ten degrees hotter than lower altitudes in Washington (i.e., Seattle). The docents at the museum are simply LOVELY as well; the restrooms and gift shop are well appointed and the parking is easy and plentiful. Support animals are welcome and kids will love this museum for the animal &,pioneer home dioramas downstairs and the outdoor town (there’s even piped music and sound effects in the saloon, rail station and jail!).There’s something here for everyone to learn and this museum ranks as one of the best out there for completeness of their collection, ease of use, overall fun and superb helpfulness of their staff. It’s a MUST-see in Cashmere, WA!

I take my exchange students here every single year. Sometimes there's a small group like this year since it was after the covid pandemic but usually it's between 10 and 12. The first year that we went I mistakenly planned for about an hour, and every year since then I plan for at least 3 hours if not four. This place is amazing! This is the most interactive Museum I have ever been to, the women that volunteer to run the place are absolutely lovely, and everything is well cared for and takes you right back through history.

A dated museum with a eurocentric perspective of the indigenous population. Plaques pay little attention to the land rights transfers and the transition of the native population to reservations. No acknowledgement of the social, cultural, and emotional destruction. Many artifacts are from "private collections" that lack a native point of view and consent of having heirlooms on display. The museum has a great opportunity to refresh the displays with a more holistic history of the area. I would have loved to learn about what tribes in the area are currently doing. The natural history in the basement is nice and the taxidermy is well done.

We just finished our visit there. Our kids (4,5 and 7) loved it. They got to dress up as pioneers and explore the outdoor village. We had a blast imaging how it was to be a pioneer! The indoor showcase was fantastic as well. I absolutely recommend this for adults and families.

Went there with the family while visiting from Minnesota. It's a great museum and has many artifacts to look at. The outdoor village is very cool, and the gentleman who was nice and unlocked all the small buildings for us to look inside after they were closed, told us a little bit about each one. I would definitely check it out again.

If you are interested in the area's indigenous tribes, the pioneer families of Cashmere (or, back in the days of "Mission") and how they lived, this is the place to go...bring your kids. There is an amazing amount of well-curated, organized history. If your ancestors or grandparents lived in the upper Valley or maybe even volunteered here, they would definitely want you to visit. If you haven't been here for several years, it is completely updated/renovated, with new digital displays, background info, and close-ups of key items. The Museum is well worth another visit.
