I have given this establishment 3 stars in hopes that they usually do better.My husband and I drove through town looking for a quick bite to eat (something to go) on a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon. When we arrived the employee working informed us that her boss was gone and that she was out of many food materials to make the items on the menu. She went on to say that it would be easier for her to list what she "could" make. I quickly asked if she had any soup. Luckily, that was something she had (chili and chowder). It took her a couple of minutes to find the right containers and then the lids to fit them. We were getting a little frustrated at the amount of time this took. However, the soup was good. The coffee stand inside was closed down and that was also a little disappointing.Having said that, the employee was very polite and the soup was good. As this was our first time going there, I am not sure if this is a common occurrence that they are out of things on the menu or that the coffee shop was closed when the restaurant is open.Along with indoor seating, they do have a nice covered area outside to sit and enjoy the weather, rain or shine!

Great staff, they are doing the best the can with what they have. The coffee if pretty good too.To be totally honest someone just needs to clean the place up and do a little renovation. It doesn't need to cost a cent just less clutter, less dust, and rejig the menu (there we're some things removed, some things difficult to read).Otherwise excellent location and kind staff, a little leadership would go a long way.

BF swich tasted good, BF burrito was average. Milk shake so thick couldn't drink through straw- gets sickly with so much ice-cream. Whole place including bathroom needs a proper clean. Decor is crazy cat lady theme. Hearing staff complain about owner is a turn off. Prices aren't great compared to other small town USA. Got extremely sick a few hours after eating here but can't be sure if it was from here or a cafe in Bellingham..

I came today for the first time after working on a project for my AP Lit class on the beach. I left my cowboy boots on a board and took my other stuff for protection and warmth. A lady and her group passed by and saw my boots (first not knowing whose they were), complimenting me for them. After I was finished, I needed to head out, but I needed to find a bathroom. I was going to stop at the C-Shop, but decided to stop in the café instead. It was very cute from the inside and as I was heading toward the bathroom, someone complimented me on the boots. It turned out to be the lady who complimented me earlier. She was talking as well to the employees, and I asked if she knew them. Little did I know, I was talking to the owner. She and the other employees were so friendly and welcoming of their customers! She even invited me to sit down as we kind of chatted for a little about my project, schools, and cats while I waited for my milkshake (which was very good) before they closed. I got a call from my work saying that I was supposed to be there, and I was pretty distraught. I was so busy and sick with a cold, and I didn't realize I was scheduled that day. Carol (the owner) told me to go home, get better and not to let it worry me. She is such a sweetheart, and she wants me to come back so I can show her my project. I definitely will! Thank you for such amazing business and care!

Stopped here for coffee and a quick bite to eat. They serve Fidalgo coffee which is top notch. The chicken ceasar salad and ice cream are amazing. Very accommodating and friendly service. This quaint little building has been here since the 1930’s and has a lot of local character.

Saw this gem of a cafe in Blaine while driving back to Seattle. Love the quaint vibe, has cool local artwork, and is pet friendly. Carol rocks and gave us helpful info on local sights and happenings. Glad we found this happy place.

Nice little place. We actually spent a couple of hours here just killing time. Nothing special about the food and a little pricey but a nice atmosphere. We were able to sit and play some provided games. Kids were entertained and we had a relaxing afternoon.

Worst customer service! They open at 8? I was there at 7:55 and waited. There was one other lady, a truck full of 3 guys and me waiting. They all gave up and left. Then 2 girls showed up and were sitting out front. I assumed they were waiting for coffee too. At 8:15 the lady with the keys showed up and all 3 girls went inside. I assumed they would come open the door but after standing at the front door for another 5 minutes I gave up. If I owned this shop I would have opened up the front door right away, apologized and said "we'll be right with you." I then had to drive 20 miles to find the next coffee shop. Way to treat your summer vacationers that keep this place open with any sort of respect. Highly disappointed!!!!!!!

I honestly can’t tell you why someone would give this any stars. If you want to pay for food that clearly purchased from Costco and simply reheated (and not really even that since everyone’s food was room temperature) and served on paper plates with plastic flatware - definitely go here. If you like to watch the “cook” do every task of the job wearing the same pair of gloves - again, go here. If you prefer that your food is NOT touched by gloves that also touched money, a cell phone, and while washing dishes - try any other establishment. Honestly I can’t imagine how there are any reviews that are more than one star. The place is filthy, with gigantic dust bunnies ALL OVER and with decor extremely confusing and off-putting, to say the least. Just steer clear. It’s terrifying. We could not wait to get out of there. Unfortunately we did not realize our folly until after we’d received our “food”. I guess their definition of “cafe” is something different than mine..

Not the best experience. We went there on a Saturday after lunch hour and asked for a menu which they gave us. My girlfriend was waiting in the truck with the pups so I brought the menu out to her and she chose a Panini off the menu. I go in to order it and they say they don't do Paninis anymore (they should remove it from the menu). So I return to the truck and tell her the news so she orders a Club sandwich for $7.50 with chips and a can of pop (which the menu said add chips and a pop for $1.50) I order a grilled cheeseburger no onions for $7.75 and added chips and a pop to my order too. I grabbed cheetos for me and lays potato chips for my girlfriend. The cheetos were horribly stale so I took them in to exchange them. We got our food and ate it there in the parking lot. It was Ok. Nothing super spectacular and then after we left I noticed they had charged me $30 dollars for the meals!! It didn't add up it should have been no more than 20. I felt dumb for not looking but I was busy getting my drink when they ran the card. I will not be coming back and if you do choose to visit, just be aware.

I really like coming to this place every time I visit the area. I love their clam chowder enough to make a 600+ mile drive for it. I definitely recommend stopping by this place.

Food was served cold after a half hour wait.Update: as of April 1 2019, the Bay Cafe is under new ownership and will reopen on May 1 2019. I wish them the best of luck.

Signage on building says they serve espresso, was told by staff that they do not serve it. At all.Family attempted to get lunch there today and was told, "No food today. Maybe next week."I get that we're towards the end of the busy season for the area, but get real.
