It was my first time being here and I have to say I am impressed. Immediately I’m greeted and helped. Kyle was very informative about what options I had for a good helmet and locks. He was a great help. Sadly, the prices were way too expensive. I went across the street to the hardware store and it was about half of the price it was at REI. Even the bike lights were $20 here.

We recently had a very positive store experience in Bellingham. Friendly staff offered help! Wow this doesn't happen in Canada so thank you REI, so glad I became a member years ago. I never regretted it since. From visiting the flagship store in Seattle to Bellingham, staff are warm and welcoming and never seem to be irritated with customer questions. So grateful for REI offering this true outdoor co-op store experience and offering the variety of products at fairly competitive prices.

Always a. one stop shop for any outdoors needs.The store is large with a spacious layout.The my have a bike repair service, classes for various outdoor activities.I’ve been happy with items from jackets, shoes, outdoor equipment.The staff is knowledgeable, but not pushy for sales.Don’t forget to check out their cool stickers by the check out.

This store is odd, as sometimes staff are everywhere and helpful, or no where to be found.The selection for this store is also off-putting as sizes for jackets and pants are at far ends of the spectrum. Example: Kuhl pants I wanted to try on today only had two size options, one 28" waist, and eight 40/42" waists. Went to look at REI branded puffys, only medium and xxl options. Went to look at glove liners, only small.I understand the store is a smaller location that seems to focus on the outdoor biking community here, but when the shelves are bare and have few options, it's not encouraging to go shop or even try out new gear. This has not been my experience today, but my the same experience I have had at this location for close to 2 years now.

Great healthy precautions in place. Masks required. Bathrooms open. Lots of hand sanitizer. Lots of cleaning. Cleaning in-between customers at check out and dressing rooms. Clothes quarantined post trying on if you don't want the item (s).

Can’t remember the name of the Manager but she resolved a nightmare I was having trying to cash out a check! I’m international so I couldn’t do that on the normal stores but she fixed the issue in no time and with such positive energy! Jessica too, the first one I talked to when I entered the store was full of good vibes! That’s why I keep buying in REI and the only reason for this review is to let the management know how gold this two employees are and how much deserve a good compensation at the end of the year! Good job guys and thanks again!

REI. Stopped by here today with my wife to look for a new wallet. I was amazed how cool this store is. They have everything outdoors you could think of. Great stuff for camping, biking, hiking etc. Great selection of hats, jackets and shoes. REI may be on higher end cost wise for clothing but these are top of line items such as northface. Found my wallet I needed and noticed a clearance rack with some great items discounted at a great price, 50 percent off. Staff was very polite and was pleased with my visit and purchase.

I don’t post negative reviews ever. However I feel like I need to this time. I never have an issue with this location, but on this particular day the staff made it their goal to actively ignore my family and myself and assist more “desirable” customers. It was as if they were only looking to service a very particular type of clientele. We were never once approached and asked if we needed assistance. This had never been an issue up until this point, and a drastic contrast from the last time I visited. Where the staff would make it their number one goal to make sure you had all the help you could ever ask for. I worry if anyone else looking to start any outdoor hobby would be discouraged to do so because of the treatment they receive at this location now. REI please do better like I know you are capable of.

picked up an order that I orderedthey obviously have their systems dialled as it was a quick scan of a barcode, the person went to the back to grab it and I was out in secondsused my table over the weekend and am really impressed by it, even better than I expected

Great no pressure sale team, and can open and inspect things for a picky customer. Pictures from bike racks. So much more than products these guys actually do trips and stuff too. Come get any bike tuned up at this location, discount for members

The staff is always super helpful! Went in for a lost key issue with my Yakima bike rack, the associates were great. Came out to my rig and removed my lock assembly and hooked me up with a new lock core.

Great experience picking up my online purchase from this store! The bike was assembled and ready to go when I got there, a member of the cycle department helped me out and took time explaining to me how the bike worked and answered all of my questions. Very appreciative of the wonderful REI staff. :)

The staff at this store are exceptionally friendly, and the overall atmosphere is very welcoming. The gentleman at the cashier explained the benefits of being a member in great detail. I would gladly make the journey across the border to shop here again.

Large collection of outdoor clothes and gear including backpacking, sports and travel supplies, clothes, shoes and camping food. REI stocks high quality items and the prices reflect it - though a one-time $20 membership fee will get you an annual dividend.Service is always friendly, though there seems to be fewer staff available to help these days. S the store itself is inviting and beautiful - no harsh lighting!Tons of parking at Sehome.I wish they included more vegan food and shoe options as well as clothing for larger sizes.

I was seriously hoping I wasn’t the only one that had this experience and was relieved, in a sad way, to see I wasn’t alone. The store presents itself very nicely. That’s about where my praises end. The selection, for as big as the store is, is not particularly large. This was my first time shopping at REI. I was greeted by a sales associate on the floor and was asked if I needed anything. The first time I said yes and was directed to where I needed to go. However, the further 4-5 times asking if I needed any more help was very off putting. I used to work retail and can easily tell when they suspect a shoplifter. If the same lady wasn’t asking me what I needed, she was constantly lurking in the background. It was very bizarre. It isn’t as though I looked suspicious either; I came in with my work attire and left having made a large purchase. Customer service and selection are heavily lacking here.

Hate to leave a bad review- but I had to chase down people to help me multiple times while I was trying on climbing shoes (understaffed). At the end of the interaction the salesperson, while super nice, gave me the wrong size shoes. Shame on me for not triple checking. When I went to return them at a different location on my way home, they charged me the difference in tax (a higher amount) instead of eating their mistake. Insult to injury that I had to take that time out of my day to handle. Will seek to avoid REI for things like this.

I’ll be honest. I don’t know what the bad reviews are for. I am CDN and normally shop at MEC. The customer service here is 100x better than MEC, and MEC is still pretty good. I dealt with Thomas the other day. He’s a big unit, you can’t miss him! Lol. I want to let the managers know, you guys should give this guy a raise! His customer service was bar none one of the best I’ve ever had at a retail shop. I had an issue with an air mattress and he went above and beyond helpful. While I was there, a customer came up and he quickly stopped talking to me to ask if the gentleman needed help. He asked about coolers. Thomas quickly radioed someone about coolers and someone came to meet the gentleman. He apologized to me, but I wasn’t in a rush and thought it was great customer service to both patrons. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here and Thomas made it even better. Now as a CDN some of the prices are actually the same as MEC for smaller things, but these are in USD. So make sure you know your prices. But for big ticket items (backpacks etc) I would rather purchase here of the way Thomas handled my return. Thanks again Thomas and hopefully next time I come down you’re there, and I can buy you a coffee or something!

Huge shout out to Clay in footwear for pushing me to shop local instead!!!! Went in today to buy some running shoes that I've been unable to find elsewhere in Bham and hoping to look at a second pair as well. Clay came over and proceeded to "help" (if you can call it that???) and was condescending the ENTIRE time. I will be the first to admit that I don't know a thing about running-- I'm just getting into it and said as much. This guy made me feel stupid for any question I asked. Really took every opportunity to make it obvious how little I know and kept a better-than-thou attitude while I was apparently wasting his time with my questions. Finally I had had enough and said I would come back another time after doing some research on what I wanted. To which Clay said very snidely, "I can assure you that I have a more complete knowledge of running shoes that anything you'll find on any page online." This guy needs to get over himself. Not the kind of thing I would expect from an REI employee. You guys are usually so great about helping people get into the outdoors! And normally I LOVE talking to people when purchasing things, but this guy needs an attitude check. REI, I hope y'all see this and talk to Clay because he's not doing a good job of repping your values.

The gear you need with helpful folks. Nowadays, it feels a bit more like a department store than the place on Pine, but Bellingham location is good and less crowded than others, usually. Including during sales ... it seems.

The bike shop at this REI sets the bar high. Lauren got me in expediently then Joe persevered and fixed a vexing issue I had. They’re both very professional and I’d recommend their expertise. Ask Joe about his genius hybrid tire setup :)

I will never shop here again, I was double charged for an item I never received without notice. Their error could have overdrawn my bank account by $160! Customer service was no help at all, they told me to just be patient after I had already waited over a week for the charges to be removed even though I didn't have the shoes. I am in disbelief how customers put up with this arrogant corporate policy and the completely unhelpful customer service reps. What a strange way to do business. Stay away from these unethical people.

Like the layout. 1st salesperson who greeted me was a bit robotic. Greeted me, and asked if I needed anything I said no, it's my first time to their store. Tried to continue the conversing, but he was well ok, just let me know if I can help, did an about face. Then puff, he was gone.2nd salesperson was more courteous, recommended I take advantage of the sale currently going on and thanked me for stopping by. Now that's a salesperson.

Took my bike in for repair, REI took ten days, it came back in worse condition than before. Rear brakes not functioning, air in the line, brake parts missing. Loose spokes, after they "trued" them, supposedly. Took to a different shop and it was properly fixed in one day. Will never go to REI again for any reason.

They helped us find the right gear. The slopes are more rainy than we have ever experienced so we got soaked. They were able to help us find the right waterproof shells to go over our outer layers.

Several staff treated me like a criminal for returning some shoes that I had used several times but didn’t care to keep. I’ve spent thousands of dollars and am an REI member because of the flexible return policy. They deemed themselves the return police despite the clear return policy online, and did their best to make it a public hearing at the checkout stand. Have never had such an uncomfortable experience at any retail store.
