I appreciate how well kept their fish tanks are, but when I had bought this betta and inquired the next day about the mysterious white patch he had on his back, I was told by the owner it was likely a “dragon scale”. It was a tumor and he died from it 8 months later. They are not aquatic vets, but there is no way that this even remotely resembles dragon scaling on betta fish, and I feel it was a sales tactic to get me to not return the $40 fish I had just bought. I feel lied to and will be unlikely to return to this store.

I’m always greeted with a friendly smile and hello when I walk in. The friendly knowledgeable staff is always helpful when selecting from their large variety of freshwater tropical fish, plants, food and supplies. They also have a great selection dog & cat supplies.

I went in lookong for some freshwater snails , they asked about my tank i said 10 gallon. They told me my tank was too small and my fish were going to die in a few months as well as they would eat the snails I wanted to buy. I said I wanted snails and they rolled their eyes at me and got me 2 snails, I've had the two goldfish over 6 months healthy and the snails are fine. To this day i joke with my girlfriend about the fish eating the snails and dying any day🤣. Didn't like the guilt trip but they had some nice snails and there selection was different than the other stores in town.

This is one of my favorite places ever. The fish are safe, healthy and in better environments than what you find in chain stores. Their tank set ups are so beautiful. They care about the tank critters. The staff are always patient and kind. Almost all of my plants and fish are from them, which makes me proud because I honestly believe in this place and love coming here. I could keep going on why this is the best place to go to for aquarium life, plants and more but you should just check it out and see for yourself! Shop local!

Best pet shop in town, hands down! Every employee I have interacted with has been so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Their tanks are always healthy and well cared for, especially compared to the big chain stores in town. I won’t shop anywhere else!

The store has a really weird vibe about it I feel like they have a political agenda which you can tell by the decor and atmosphere has you step into the store feels like they can't make much money off of selling fish and pet supplies but they have a great location. I did not feel comfortable buying fish from them.**Thanks for answering my questions with your response;) The way you run your business is your business. I wish you the best.**

By far the best pet store in Whatcom county, there is a large diversity of fish and the fish are always well taken care of. I have ordered fish through them a few times and I am always informed promptly when the fish arrive and when i can retrieve them. I have always been treated with great customer service and a very welcoming energy every time I'm in the store.

Wonderful place. They helped my roommate set up his first freshwater tank with live plants,snails,shrimp and fish and it looks wonderful. They have everything I need for my saltwater tank in terms of supplements and food, and even have cheap Dubai roaches for my geckos. Couldn’t recommend more

In response to another reviewer, I personally love visiting Red's Pet Supply because the owner is so welcoming to everyone who doesn't raise a stink about relatively Inconsequential matters (apparently rainbows are scary). Every single person on the staff is very kind and pleasant to speak with, and *they know their stuff about the products they sell*.The aquariums are well maintained and the creatures well cared for. There's a good variety of freshwater community fish, and the bettas especially are top notch. Not only do they sell fish, but everything necessary for setting up and maintaining a healthy aquarium. If they don't have what you want, ask if they can order it.They also have high quality food and supplies for many other companions. My husband and I buy our dog and cat food here, as well as feeders and accessories for our snake (frozen mice are from Layne Labs - yay!), toads, newt and spider.If you want to support a small, local pet supply shop where you can find high-quality products and first-rate service, check out Red's.

This review is from the perspective of a local fish breeder. Reds does not support local breeders by buying fish wholesale from breeders in Bellingham or nearby areas, even when we offer a MUCH more competitive price than the international wholesaler that they use (the same one as Petco). So don’t go here thinking you will find locally raised aquarium fish unless they have been donated instead of sold to Reds (Graciously, Reds *will* accept fish from local breeders for FREE or for store credit that quickly expires). As a local breeder, I’m super bummed out by Reds policy to not support local breeders even slightly.

I've been building my first aquarium for a couple weeks now. Reds aquarium has been the place for every dumb question and has guided me on the right path every time. Every single one of their staff has been friendly and helpful. Nothing but positives!

Very small pet store. Used to have a very nice saltwater fish and invertebrates section. All gone now. Sad to see.Update: Went there recently to see if anything had changed. It's still the same, only good if you want some fresh water plants. No saltwater fish or corals are available even though they do have a large saltwater display up front. Customer service was little to none. If you are looking for saltwater fish, coral, etc, the best place in town is currently Petco on Bakerview.

This shop is one of my top faves now after my recent experience. Upon walking into the store you're immediately greeted with a beautiful marine aquarium with beautiful fish and corals on display. Upon inspecting the condition of the tanks and fauna within, there is obviously a keen attention to details and passion inherit to the staff exhibited by the state of their superb, clean, and well maintained living displays. If you can manage to look way from the aquatics section you will notice their well stocked supply for other critters we love from furs babies to scaly ones. Back to the aquatics: The staff member who helped me was extremely informative, listened to my needs, and asked great questions about my current setup and goals without being pushy or arrogant at all. I went home with 4 Cherry Red Shrimp and Two plants fit for my light setup and tank plan. The plants have propagated wonderfully, as testament to their health, and created a haven for the shrimp. We lost two shrimp the first day thanks to an aggressive pleco, but since removing the pleco one of the shrimp berried and had babies giving us a total of 10 Cherry shrimp.I can't wait to go back and get some more plants and shrimp from them. Well worth the drive from Mount Vernon. I'm really sad I can't recall any of the staff names to give them a shout out. Definitely go check them out!

This shop had big shoes to fill with beloved and historical places suffering such immense loss (Clark's and Hohl's) but the owner here has redefined "your best little pet supply shop in town". This is always my first stop. The owner and the very thoughtfully selected crew care so much and are so invested in our animal companions. I'm sure everyone knows they exist by now. But if you didn't, I highly recommend them.

I had SUCH a great experience at Bellingham Pet Supply! First of all, Dustin, their superstar employee, is both passionate about salt-water aquaria and an encyclopaedic reservoir of knowledge, which he freely shares.Dustin went out of his way to assist my in receiving a pet shipped from out-of-state, and holding it in good health until I was able to arrive. Going above and beyond the call of duty! He then gave me an educational that left me wanting to return to purchase an entry-level salt-water system. I feel much better-equipped to get started in this hobby having visited Bellingham Pet Supply, where they don't push you to buy, but give you all the tools you need to make an educated decision.I was impressed also by the excellent health of all of their salt water aquaria. These people know what they're doing, and only sell fish and corals in excellent health!Thank you, Bellingham Pet Supply, for really making my day and being a leader in your field. You make visiting Bellingham a rare pleasure!

I went there this morning. They didn't have any long fin leopard danios in stock, but took my name and will let me know when they come in. I did find the dwarf honey gouramu that I have been seeking! Saved me a long trip down to Aquarium Co-op. I am very happy that Bellingham has a good aquarium store.

We have been ordering worms online because the chain pet stores always seem to be out. We were looking for a local place and finally found this one. Bugs aplenty! And a giant puffer fish for good measure. Friendly people and great prices on cat treats that we were paying too much for. Thank you!

Very friendly and helpful staff! I’ve gone in a couple times for fish supplies and advice on how to care for my betta, and the workers employees there have always been happy to help me out! I’m also really happy to say my betta’s been feeling a lot better and acting more like himself since he got an epsom salt bath and started a course of Paraguard!
