Ever since Alberts0ns bought haggen in 2016 the quality has left and the price has gone up. Moldy produce is what you will expect from these stores.

Have always bought beer and wine here but was just denied by an employee that has made multiple sales to me in recent weeks. I don’t use a fake ID, but since I’m out of state they consistently make an issue when selling me alcohol.Definitely done buying alcohol here as the 5 minute hold up to inspect my legal New Mexican ID is just ridiculous (literally happens every time.) Drop the power trip, you’re NOT COPS!Also thanks for the food poising from your bakery (:

Very nicely organized and very clean. The employees definitely stay on top of re-stocking items. Only a couple of times they were out of something that I needed, other than that they are pretty well stocked up. They do accept SNAP and WIC and their Similac selection and PediaSure selection is great. U can grab 10 to 15 cans at a time without having to go to 2 different stores. There's a bank for ur convenience and a Starbucks inside as well.

Barkley haggen is an exceptional store! Their employees are always so friendly and helpful! The floral department is the best in town! Unlike most stores the Barkley haggen has floral staff there to help you from 7 a.m. till 7 pm!!! They even help you pick out flowers and then wrap them for free! One of the things I like the best about the Barkley Haggen store is it's size. It's a good size store with high-quality selection, but not as big as Safeway and Fred Meyer so you can get in and out faster. I would highly recommend this store!

usually love coming here, but the man at self checkout gave me the worst attitude - when i tried to ask for help after waiting for minutes he said “don’t come up to me, i’ll come to you when im ready”. left a terrible taste in my mouth, don’t usually complain about stuff like this but he had an awful energy

They keep well organized and comfortably spacious to meet social distancing standards and requirements. Staff still thru their masks, manage to keep their smiles visibly warm and welcoming thru these trying holidays of 2020 and continue to be as friendly and helpful as ever given the current circumstances. Thank you Haggen Employees. Q1

$27 for 1 bottle of Flonase(generic)?! This store has obvious and outlandish price gouging. Drive an extra 3 minutes to Fred Meyers.

Their cinnamon rolls are so good warmed up! Best from a grocery store bakery. Their produce is nice too

This particular location has the best selection of vegan cheese and "fake meat" products. Produce is high quality, and considering the smaller footprint of the store, selection is excellent - they have baby bok choy for example, and lots of organics. The variety of Silk soy milk I use (Unsweet) is reliably in stock. Plus staff were super friendly and helpful. Prices are higher than the other chain grocery stores but sometimes it's worth it.

Least favorite grocery store in Bellingham by far, and I’ve given it a fair chance living down the street from it. The prices are higher than anywhere else, they remodeled but it didn’t help (the aisles are still confusing), the to-go salads are way too much lettuce and skimpy toppings with one tiny side of dressing, and a very rude associate at the self checkout told me that I “must be new to town” because I asked her a question about tax. I’m not sure how this place does well.Update on 5/16/23: Staff is still the most rude in Bellingham.

LOVED this store!! It was like a whole foods but did have some junk food people like. It was like a mix between whole foods and a Safeway but pretty nice and well stocked. Lots of fresh cold food and snacks to choose from at the entrance so it was very convenient and looked tasty. Easy to shop healthy with a few snack in between, will absolutely come back again

Ok place to go for a quick lunch....but for groceries I would not shop at Haggen. The prices seem high to me, especially for thier meats.

Came here for the sole purpose of finding tahini, because I couldn't find it at another store. The employee was eager to help me and persisted until we found what I was looking for. Thank you!

Got off of a 12 hour shift and was excited to eat dinner. Picked up some “fresh” pasta noodles and sauce from the fridge section.. drive all the way home to find they are BOTH expired/moldy. Super disappointed in their quality control. Gas isn’t cheap, my time is worth a lot to me, and now I either don’t get dinner or have to drive 30 minutes back to the store.

This store has a good selection of smaller pre-made meals, catering to university students. I like the layout. It's not an overwhelming expansive store, I can find everything on my list. I especially like that they carry Kirk's products, that I discovered during Covid. They also have great produce, flower, gifts, and alcohol departments.

Great grocery. Just popped in, and was able to quickly locate my stuff, and be on my way. Good booze selection.

How's it that price levels have demanded such an increase, yet no sound news is available on the scuttlebutt lines? Information that's easy to understand: our prices are this much because of that. Anyway... other than that, I think Haggens has always had the best deli made foods & a nice, relaxed atmosphere. If you can afford it, dive in!

I used to Only shop here. It's handy, it's close. But since they were bought out, my God the prices jumped to a literally greedy high! I make a good living but no one wants to pay more for something you can get at another store way cheaper. Covid is over . Shortages are relieved. Let's get back to reasonable?

It's a grocery store. Haggen prices are a bit higher than at Fred Meyer, but their meat is superior which is why we shop there. Fantastic produce quality as well. It's worth the extra bit for us.

Haggen is a locally founded grocery store chain now owned by Safeway, but still locally managed. This particular store has a large footprint and is conveniently located near the University and just off I-5.Long noted for their excellent Deli, Meat, Bakery and Produce departments, Safeway has added financial stability, access to more distributed goods and, for the most part, better pricing.

Love getting sushi or wraps from here. Staff are always nice, but I usualy use self check out so I don't have to talk to people.

Love the cleanliness and has top notch qualities. Won't use as primary shopping as the prices are really up there, but for a quick stop for a last minute pre-made lunch or dinner, it's great.

I just bought vodka there and the self checkout man didn’t card me? I look like a tired 12 year old. Ruined my night.

Been going to Haggen's all my life as Bellingham local, never had an issue. My partner today went shopping hoping to use a couple of the virtual coupons we had clipped through the app using our phone number. We were not prompted to give a phone number and when we asked the cashier Erin, she said they were already applied. Found it very odd that every other grocery store we go to in Whatcom County has a rewards program attached to their customers phone numbers for online deals, ALL PLACES THAT HAVE THAT PROMPT YOU TO ENTER IT AT CHECK OUT REGARDLESS OF IF IT SELF-CHECK OUT OR A CASHIER RINGING YOU UP. Called the 210 36th St location asking why we weren't asked and if there was any way we could get a $10 credit or even a simple refund. I said I had the receipt, reference number, exact coupons, receipt amount, and cashiers name if that helped. NOPE. The only possible way for me to get the $10 was to BRING IN A WHOLE GROCERY CART WORTH OF ITEMS BACK TO THE STORE SO THEY COULD REFUND THE ENTIRE PURCHASE, RESCAN IT, AND CHARGE US AGAIN JUST TO GET $10 OFF. $10. $10 MF DOLLARS. "THERE IS NO OTHER WAY.". "NO OTHER WAY", really. I didn't ask for a $210 dollar refund; I ask for a $10 refund/store credit. BOTH MY PARTNER AND MYSELF WORK IN RETAIL. SHE WORKS AT A LOCAL GROCERY STORE. BOTH OF US HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A POLICY BEFORE.After the phone call really all I wanted were the 200 rewards points. Called Haggen Cooperate (forgot the name of the individual who helped me.) they were very polite and were able to apply the rewards points. 5 stars cooperate employee who helped me, 0 stars store manager who had no possible solution for me.

Great price for 1/2 dozen roses, also best section of flowers to make your own bouquet.

It’s a bummer that this is the closest grocery store to me. I’ve had multiple bad experiences here, mostly with the rude cashiers. This store most also have the strangest liquor laws I’ve come across, because they’ve denied me an alcohol sale twice even though I’m 22 (?)The first time, I ran into a friend at this Haggen while I was grocery shopping (it’s a small town, this happens a lot) and once we parted ways and I checked out, the cashier said they needed my friends ID as well. Why?? They had already left. Just so bizarre. And another time I was with my mom and they didn’t sell her a bottle of wine because she was with me, a minor at the time. No worries, I’ll just give my money to Fred Meyer & Trader Joe’s instead! They honor the federal liquor law and aren’t completely belittling at checkout. Don’t shop here unless you love ridiculous prices and prestigious attitudes.
