We love Cedarwoods! We've been going to them for 18 years. Most recently we took my very reactive GSD mix in for training. The first group class we could barely enter the building, the second class we spent most of the time in the building, and the third class she was laying calmly at my feet waiting for her turn in the lesson!

This is now my 3rd dog I've taken through cedarwoods and I couldn't be happier! The results speak for themselves as you can see my Catahoula mix can so a sit stay without me hiding the leash after only 6 classes! Absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking to train a dog without treats or clickers!

Cedarwoods Canine School was phenomenal when I lived in WA from 2001 to 2009.Looking forward to taking my next service dog up for training. Definitely worth the travel!

The owner and lead trainer, Sam is incredibly caring, dedicated and talented at what he does. We are midway through private lessons with our high energy puppy and learning so much! Her progress is slow, but REAL, and I believe it will be life lasting vs just following treats around to give an impression of obedience. You must be ready to pour a lot of time and energy into your dog via daily homework and prepared to enforce boundaries and discipline via controlled leash pops. (Good and safe enough for Monks of New Skete = good enough for me!)We have such a good time there and love his warmth and passion for dogs and their owners- I want to adopt Sam as my uncle.

We've brought 2 of our dogs there and have had nothing but fantastic results. They're the only place I have found in the area that will help you train your dog to respect you instead of only listening to you when you have a treat. 10 out of 10 would recommend them to anyone, especially with a new puppy!

Cedarwoods Canine School has been amazing! The trainer, Sam, is very educated and experienced and will always problem solve if you need it. The classes are very fun, and clearly taught, my two young daughters love to come to class with me. I have been following Sam's program and it's amazing what my puppy can do! Going to these classes has also bonded my puppy and I, and is helping me become a confident handler. Thank you for all you do Sam and for all the support!

We enrolled our dog in basic obedience at Cedarwoods. She is pretty loyal but we needed guidance on how to best train her. Cedarwoods utilizes sound practices to help your dog walk better and listen better. As with any dog training, the handler is the one being trained!

The classes are well run and trainers work with each owner and dog. They also guarantee their trading, allowing owners and dogs the ability to redo the classes, as well as offering tune up and boot camps to help with your dog. Highly recommend.

Sam and Ariel are amazing and so very helpful- the results of praise based training are evident early on in the program with my puppy, now 4 months old. I highly recommend Cedarwoods Dog Training!

Well worth the overall price considering you will have a lifetime of proper training, obedience and love with your dog.Even though my puppy and I recently began obedience training with them, I'm overall excited to see the excellent outcome and reputation I've heard and read about. Love that it's a family owned and operated facility as well as they make all the training materials after researching what works best best for dogs, and people all on site. Like that if needed you and your dog can get any extra attention/help in order for one to succeed.P.S. Appreciate that it's all praised based training as well.So after about 7months of continually going weekly and STILL NOT GETTING WHAT I NEEDED FROM THESE CLASSES, OR THE OWNER/TRAINER....I DROPPED OUT ENTIRELY. You see what happens in the actual sessions is that you sit in a room full of dogs/ owners(keeping your dog well behaved)for 45mins of "STORYTIME" then shown once, expected to do it once in front of class then back to seats. Honestly the REAL Training comes from the "Tune Up Classes" that are highly encouraged and worth it if you have some free vouchers, otherwise you've got to pay. I'm on disability and I would do everything told and more and yet my Biggest concern was that my German Shepherd puppy (9wks old when started-dropped out around 6months of weekly classes and extras) was that I was never seen as "Alpha" and therefore, wouldn't listen to me. I was only "helping a friend out by taking her TEMPORARILY, then later asked if I could/would be able to keep her for good. Nothing seemed to get through with her while I was at the end of leash, literally and figuratively. I became terrified I'd have to get rid of her since she was now bigger and becoming aggressive when training came around. Every time, same answers for my fear filled concerns. "Just keep at it" and/or the "Private One on One” AKA.....YEP MORE MONEY I COULDN'T AFFORD TO DISH OUT FOR JUST MORE FRUSTRATIONS.I just want to be COMPLETELY HONEST WITH MY REVIEW SINCE I LEARNED THE HARD AND EXTREMELY PRICEY AND FRUSTRATING WAY.... LESSON LEARNED!!P.S Me and my almost a year old now German Shepherd and I have never been happier now with the changes we've made, still a couple small hurdles constantly having to do but she's come such a long way from when training wasn't working.

Great teaching institute, for my dog and more importantly for me! Who knew dog training involved 90% training yourself. Sam is awesome and totally the best dog whisperer I have ever met. I get compliments about my well behaved pup now.

This is an exceptional dog training and boarding company/facility. My one and only complaint is the cost. The dog training program is expensive. Well worth it but expensive none the less. Not necessarily affordable for everyone.

We took our dog here for boarding because of the "great" reviews. However we will never board our dog here again. Maybe they have great reviews because of their obedience school but do not board your dog here! They took our dog to the back and didn't say much. We've boarded our dog once before somewhere so wasn't really sure what to expect. We came home early from our trip because we just had a bad feeling about it. The kennels are filthy. Our dog stank horribly and he had just been groomed before he went. His foot was bleeding but we didn't notice until after we got him. We inspected his foot further and it looked like he had been so anxious there that he chewed them. He also has cut under his armpit that has no explanation. We aren't sure what happened there but the condition our dog came back to us in in just 2 days surprised us...never again.

Cedarwood was extremely helpful with our pups. They're small and needed custom training collars and modified training for their quirks. No problem for this awesome organization. We'll be back for the off leash class.

I can't stress enough how much my dog and I appreciated Sam and his training method. I now have a dog who doesn't really need a leash when we leave the house, who listens when I tell him to stay, and waits for me to give him a command when needed. When you get tired of the food-based obedience classes where you dog might listen to you 50% of the time, Give Cedarwoods a call.

Sam, the owner, is AMAZING! My dog has the worst separation anxiety and with Sam's help, on-site obedience classes, and super affordable Daycare, we are managing it. Highly recommended for anyone with a pup with major behavioral issues, looking to get their life back.

Sam is awesome! We have taken all of our dogs here over the years and the service and training has been well received by our dogs. When they had the kennel, our dog, Little Licken' Larry did awesome with Sam. Thank you Sam!

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! You get MAYBE 2 minutes working with your dog in class, then you are on your own until the next class a week later. The classes are oversized imho causing little time for you and your dog to work with the trainer. You spend most of the class sitting and watching other people work with their dog and the trainer.

In a former life I was a dog trainer at one of the big-box pet stores ('cough' it was Petco). I wasn't very good at it and most my students would quit before they finished all their classes. They quit because my training was horrible and therefore their training was horrible and they were wasting their money by getting training through us. Those who needed serious dog education and not just 'puppy play time' ended up going to Cedarwoods. Cedarwoods was a REAL dog training school that actually produced results.

I stopped taking my dog there. He was a working German shepherd.Seemed they are better suited for dogs like golden retriever or pomeranian. Not a eastern German Shepherd or working Rottweiler or definitely not a Caucasian Ovcharka

Teaches effective dog management skills, hands on, without silly ineffective clickers or food bribing. Really WORKS. You can always tell Cedarwoods graduates by their excellent behavior.
