Such an amazing rescue! I just adopted my second puppy from here. The puppies are so well socialized with people and other dogs from here that it makes it so easy to continue that once you bring puppy home. My two year old that I adopted from here has been the best dog and so far our new pup has also been just amazing and so sweet. The lounge is very clean and such a great environment. Excellent way to be able to hang out and observe the pups if your looking or just to get some snuggles! Highly reccomend visiting and adopting from here!

My new favorite place in Bellingham! The puppies were absolutely adorable and so sweet. The lady working there was also super nice and kind. We had such a wonderful time and I love how all the dogs are available to adopt. It’s a great place to go if you’re looking for a potential forever friend or to just hang out with puppies for the day. I will definitely be going back!

We got our dog, Bella, from Are You My Human. I actually didn't look for a pup, I sat down and waited to see which dogs were interested in me. Several came up to me a few times, but this beautiful, golden puppy named Bella crawled into my lap, gave me a slurpy kiss on my cheek, and snuggled onto my chest, where she fell sound asleep. I can honestly say that my dog picked me. Quite a departure from the norm. Bella is a little over a year old now, and needs a playmate, best buddy for her big back yard. I think we're going to go back to AYMH to find her new best friend. Excellent concept that works fantastically if you commit to letting the dog pick you.

This place helped me a lot when I was grieving the loss of my two dogs. But now I’m hearing about a lot suspicious goings on. How are this many puppies coming and going and in very unhealthy conditions? There seems to be no sterilization protocol in the building. Even former employees/volunteers have spoken about lack of job training and unhealthy contagious dogs put into the groups. ASPCA should do a look into this business. From my hard look it almost seems like a puppy mill front and NOT a rescue. Do your own research, but this seems shady the more you look into things.

Went with a friend who is looking to adopt a dog. The staff member who was working there was super sweet and made for a positive visit! It was so nice to hang out with some dogs just for fun. My only suggestion is lowering the amount of people allowed in, I found it very crowded which was hard to get much puppy time

I come here all the time since my dogs are back in my hometown and I don't get to see them very often, usually it's very great but this time was unfortunately not. I had booked an appointment prior and was super excited to hang out with the dogs, I don't know if maybe the person working misunderstood but after helping the two people in front of me they left to go talk to other guests already inside. The next time people came in I was ignored again. It's understandable if it was just a misunderstanding which it probably was. But I do suffer from severe social anxiety and it's hard to speak up when a situation is uncomfortable. It was just a unfortunate circumstance.

It's a place where you can go to sit down and pet a lot of dogs. What's not to love? All of these good boys and girls are perfect for adoption as well. I know where I want to pick up my next pet.

Workers were kind, helpful, and kept good care of the puppies during our visit! We visited with a wheelchair user and were able to comfortably enjoy the experience. Would happily go back again!

Such an amazing place! I love that if you just need to get a puppy fix you can come play and snuggle for a hour or two. The place is clean and the owners are very personable. We loved the puppies so much we didn’t want to leave!

I used to love this place, but have really disappointed in their lack of customer service / communication. I had an appointment set for my best friends birthday on 10/21, and due to a family emergency we weren’t able to make it. I reached out to them that night to ask about rescheduling or a refund. They told me without 24 hours notice they wouldn’t be able to refund me, or reschedule. I totally get that they have their policies, but i reached out again and asked if there was any possibility of an exception. They left me on “seen” for 2 days. I reached out to them again on Monday and was ignored again. I’m honestly more upset about the complete lack of communication as opposed to the policy itself. But i was disappointed that i lost out on my $30, since it’s is a good chunk of money to lose out on when I specifically saved up to give my friend a special birthday. I was already on the fence about going back because of an experience i had last time, but now i definitely won’t be.

This is a wonderful place where you can meet a d spend time with puppies who need a good home. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about dogs.

Great place and great folks! It does get messy at times (because it's literally full of puppies!) but the folks who work there are quick to clean up any indoor accidents. Devin is obviously super passionate about the dogs, rescue and adoption in general and he was very knowledgeable about each dog's personality and background. All the pups were super sweet too! Best of all, today, two days after my initial visit, I was able to bring home my own sweet little chihuahua! She's sleeping in my lap as I type this review and she's absolutely the perfect pup for me! After such a long search, I have at last found the droid I was looking for <3

I worked here for a few months, before quitting. I am a college student at wwu and only worked Saturday’s. I have always loved dogs and animals, so working here was a dream. This dream however turned into a traumatic experience and scars I will carry for the rest of my life. One day I went to work and I had a kids birthday party come in. I had a bunch of puppies, in addition to 2 adult dogs. A Great pyrenees and a shepherd. Both over 80lbs. I was less than 100lbs at the time, not that I can’t handle my own. The two adult dogs had previously been aggressively fighting throughout the previous sessions. As the end of the session approached, the birthday party was the last one out. While the kids were passing through the gate, the dogs got overstimulated and began fighting again. They cornered the birthday girl while snarling at each other and broke out into another uncontrollable fight. I grabbed the great pyrenees since I knew she was the one causing the problem, and I didn’t want her to snap at any of the little kids. However the dog whipped her face around and bit me in the face. The birthday girl looked at me in horror as blood dripped on the floor. What a fun and memorable birthday!! Her parents were very sweet and wanted to make sure I was okay since I was alone to deal with the situation at hand. My boss came about 30 minutes later and said it wasnt my fault but that getting bit is apart of the job. And that most of the workers have been bit. I was completely gas lighted. My boss did check up on me, but it felt like he was only making sure I wouldn’t sue the rescue. While I didn’t sue, I am completely furious with the whole situation and how it was handled. The great pyrenees was adopted the next day, and I doubt the adopters are aware of the incident that occurred. While I believe they are trying to do good, they do not have the necessary safety precautions. There is zero training with how to deal with aggressive dogs or how to safely dismember a fight. I know the main cause of this is funds; however this is not fair to the staff, adopters, visitors and dogs.

Absolutely do not adopt a puppy from here unless you want to spend thousands of dollars on hospitalization for your new puppy because it came with a contagious upper respiratory illness. There have been SEVERAL cases throughout several different months of puppies from here being sick and many to the point of needing oxygen supplementation to breathe. I’m sure these people want to make a difference, but they need to shut down and seriously deep clean and sanitize the place and then reopen with new standards for cleaning and isolation. I know the puppies are cute, but please, find one somewhere else!

I adopted a puppy from Because We Care Rescue, he was at the lounge. They throw puppies with contagious diseases and parasites together. They do not provide clean drinking water and all times- that’s neglect.I also don’t believe the facility gets properly disinfected.I was told my pup possibly had kennel cough and it was just a “head cold” and not anything to worry about. I was given a sketchy bottle of doxycycline.My puppy ended up with severe pneumonia- hospitalized on oxygen for 2 different 48 hour periods. When I contacted BWC, I was offered a friendly gaslight about how his siblings are doing great (was not true, I’ve found out since then that one of his siblings is at risk of being put down) and the adoption fee back ($350) after I had already spent nearly $3000 at AEC.After I found a trusted vet, I found out he also had coccidia and giardia. My vet was obviously upset and she contacted BWC and then I was offered financial help from Natalie- she covered his first visit at AEC.My puppy is recovering and has the best support team now but he’s been through so much trauma- as have I and my partner. I was looking for an emotional support animal and the experience was just not one that I can recommend in any way.

Though a cute idea, our experience was poor. Let alone two dogs being in recovery from medical care, one dog was barfing on the furniture and had diarrhea on the floor. The staff was barely paying attention to the dogs, let alone monitoring the aggressive bulldog carefully. We as customers had to break up a few tense dog showdowns as well as keep the bulldog from terrorizing the puppy because the staff did not intervene past what was in arms reach from his seat. He sat on his phone while the bulldog was aggressive to the other puppies and children that were also there visiting. The dogs that were sick or recovering should not be at the lounge that day and it was disappointing to see the state of the dogs.

This is an inspiring organization! Such a fun way for dogs that need good homes to socialize and for people to enjoy the elating company of puppies, even if they aren't planning on adopting! The kind folks that run operations are excellent at correspondence, diligent about the cleanliness of the cafe during visits and most importantly, they love the pups that are in their care. Can't recommend this place enough!

What am incredible place! Well maintained and well managed relaxed atmosphere with playful puppy energy! Are you my human is a fantastic way to find a furever friend or simply stop in for an hour of puppy love!There is no pressure to buy a puppy and the owner genuinely cares for each individual puppy as his own. He encourages people to come and play for an hour regardless on if you want to take a puppy home because who doesn't need a little puppy love in their life?!I drove 1.5 hours just to get here and would come again in a heartbeat! What a great experience for my kids to enjoy!!!

I came here a few weeks ago and loved it... The adoption process is so tough these days, since most rescues don't allow "meet and greets" prior to application. A dog should be a permanent member of a family and for that reason, I prefer to meet a dog before applying to adopt them to make sure our personalities and traits are a good match. This is the perfect solution! I was able to play with the dogs for an hour and get to know them. I didn't meet a dog that worked for me, but now I will keep coming back! The owners were obviously honorable people who care a lot about rescuing animals and it was an overall great experience. I highly recommend it!

This place is a front for a puppy mill. Interview is little more than “do you have cash and a pulse?” How else does a 19-year old with no fixed address end up with a pitbull? SPCA needs to investigate this place.

I got a dog from them and she had advanced kennel cough and giardia. Both are highly contagious, and can be carried home by humans on your clothing. I would not recommend this establishment.

i had so much fun coming here with a few of my friends!! the puppies were so sweet and the employees were super kind. we were lucky enough to get an hour by ourselves and it was honestly such a nice end of quarter treat for us to de stress. highly recommend!!!
