We needed stove chimney pipe and honestly, until now, we didn't know a ton about installing a chimney. The staff here are so helpful and knowledgeable that we now feel fully equipped to tackle this new project. The check out was fast and friendly and it felt like they really cared. Horrible service!! I like to go in there for the little trinkets and toys for my daughter and never had a problem, besides constantly being hounded by employees hovering around me. The last time I walked into the store, I was barely past the entrance when I heard "ahem, excuse me....you were told you were no longer allowed to shop here." I was like uhhh what? Since when? She said "since now" I didn't say another word and walked out. Doing nothing wrong and flabbergasted at what just happened. Warning to everyone they will treat u like a criminal for no reason and ban u at will. I've spent so much money there. They're loss, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Stopped in to get some fasteners that were missing from something I bought online. Very helpful I found an employee easily. Also, was in need of a garden shed. I was having no luck finding what I wanted. Noticed they had some sheds. So I asked about their stock and recommendations. They found what I needed and it fits my needs perfectly. Also described my house they found one that matches my house color perfectly.All the staff I have dealt with are friendly and knowledgeable of inventory. Even helping with solutions.You are now my hardware store of choice

This is a crazy-fun place to visit every week. Massive key making department, lumber- electrical - plumbing - tools - fasteners, but also clothing ... work site durable wear, and nice Hood Canal wear too. Absolutely always friendly staff!

McLendons selection matches and often exceeds what can be found at the big box stores. Their pricing is almost always lower and they have dozens of employees who are knowledgeable and eager to help. The consistently high quality of customer service between their Renton, Port Orchard, and Belfair locations has ensured that I will be a lifelong customer.

I just moved to the area and was excited to check out the hardware store. I just left a job working at a small town hardware store and wanted to see how they'd compare. The whole time I was in the store one employee kept following me around and kept asking if I needed help. I told him a few times I was just looking around. I ended up finding a few things I wanted and he came up and asked "oh did you find everything ok?" Kinda snarky. I felt like he thought I was trying to shoplift or something with the way I was constantly being monitored. I went back today and was again bombarded with people asking if I needed help finding anything. My husband told them no we just need some fasteners and we're all good. The employee just responded with "well, we'll see". We both were kinda taken back by that comment. Overall I feel like whenever I've gone I spend most the time trying to avoid the employees so I'm not constantly asked if I need help or I feel like they think I'm trying to steal something.

On a cool cloudy summer day, stopped here to just look around. What a treat. This is a great one stop "find everything" hardware store. Parking was an easy in and out, right in front of the main door entrance. When you walk in you easily see big clear numbered isle by isle itemized rows. Isles full of you name it, they have it. Bracket for mounting a boat fire extinguisher? They have it. Just looking for that tiny screw that secures the license plate cover you dropped, and can not find? They have it. Missing those handy tools, garden supplies, kitchen n bath projects needed, fire place screen, or just the replacement rope for the insert door? Yep it's there. Quick friendly check out and an arm full of goodies needed. Plus, I did not have to spend all day going place to place to see if it was there. Check it out.

Huge place. Loved the old-school place that was in Renton back in the day. I could wander that place for hours. This place is more focused, more organized with a decent supply of everything you'll need to fit your needs. The staff is polite and super helpful if you need it. Can't really say anything bad about this location.

This store carries everything imaginable! From hardware, clothing, souvenirs, snacks and candy. All the employees are extremely happy to help with any questions you may have. I think this might be my favorite store of all time.

My wife and I have always received prompt helpful service and tips from the cheery employees. Being a 23year disabled veteran i find it very kind when we receive a military discount on our purchases. This kindness is so appreciated!! It just says thank you for your service in the military each and every time we shop. We highly encourage everyone to shop here and get helpful tips if needed with all your projects big and small.

I was treated so terribly and what once was one my favorite stores I will now be putting efforts into publicly humiliating them as they did me, although nothing can even compare…… when I first got into the store I went to battery section and the small batteries are confusing so I had pulled out my little flashlight that’s attached to my coin purse so I could size compare to get the right size… a little bit later I realized that I had left my coin purse in the shopping basket so I immediately put it into my purse, and that’s when an employee approached me and demanded that I put back whatever I had put in my purse, I told him it was my own coin purse and even showed him the inside of my purse and he told me it was policy to have me leave now!!! So they have a policy that kicks out shoppers who put their own thing into their purse?!?!?!?! I was in tears at this point and can’t believe that they made me leave when I seriously was shopping for multiple projects I have going on and I don’t understand how they think this is okay?!?!?! If it were my business I would definitely try to smooth things over and try and make it right somehow, but they don’t care about their serious mistake and how it’s affected a regular customer…. Disgusting

My place when looking for Stihl, otherwise you are paying more for the convenience and local atmosphere, but sometimes that isn't so bad. They recently revamped the store and made it better. Good selection of many items that make it a pain to drive further to a big box store, but save the big purchases for them. Great that they offer a military/veteran discount.

Brought my mom camping to Belfair State Park. We went into town to the hardware store to get a few things, and she saw a shirt there she liked that said Hoodcanal on it, but it had a stain on it. She wanted a discount on it. After telling her she'd only get 3 dollars off, she said no, thank you, she didn't want it. After that, they were very rude to her, wouldn't even give her eye contact, or say, "Have a nice day." After that experience of watching them be so rude to her, I won't be coming here anymore, as I do live close by. It was very unwelcoming. My mom wasn't rude to them she only wanted to know if there was a discount on the damaged item to make her decision. The lady even rubbed her saliva on it to see if it would come off, which it didn't. I don't want your spit or your rude behavior. Thanks, but no thanks.

I had to return a surge protector because the USB ports didn't work. The exchange was easy and Thor even took time to test out a USB port there in the store to ensure it worked. That is outstanding customer service! This is just one of many examples of how nice it is to be able to shop at McLendon's.

Watch out for Bait & Switch! Their website said they had Ball brand canning jars in stock but when I drove out to get some I found that they were actually selling some off brand under the same item number.

I try to avoid McLendon's most of the time unless it's necessary to go there as you can see by looking at my reviews almost all are positive. Nearly every time I go to McLendon's I felt like I was being followed by the employees. Even with the shopping cart full of items credit cards in my pocket as well as cash, nicely dressed, or in work attire it didn't matter. So finally I got frustrated and asked an employee what was going on. They said on the down low... It's part of their training and that's what they're taught to do. I don't think that's fair to an honest hard working individual just trying to purchase items for simple home repairs or gardening ideas. The only reason a person should be surveilled is because they're in prison or commiting a crime not because there shopping for hardware.
