We have used Salty Dog for years, generally with good results. So we felt confident in dropping off our Golden Retriever for a repeat grooming. Imagine our shock at finding that the groomer chose to shave him from nose to toes, removing all the gorgeous long feathers along his legs and body. When asked why they would do such a thing, the groomer shrugged off our horror saying that it was something other Golden owners requested. We did not, and have lost all trust in this business.

We brought our younger dog in for a trim. They are familiar with our dog and the cut we want. She is a water dog with thick, curly hair. When she was picked up we found they had shaved off her coat except for a frizzy pom pom at the tip of her tail. They claimed her coat was matted, which was not true, and said they had to shave her. If they could not trim her coat they should have told us when we arrived or called to check before shaving off all her hair. She is now freezing, has to wear a sweater, and is very skittish. With our other dog, they complained about dandruff jamming their equipment. We have been bringing our dogs there for years and this was something we had never heard. They told us we would need to wash her before bringing her in to be groomed. I thought it was their job to wash her as part of the service. The new owners are a big disappointment, and traumatized one of our dogs. The prior owners were excellent. The new ones do not seem to know what they are doing, how to treat dogs, or customers.

We booked an appointment online 2 weeks in advance. The appointment duration was 1 hour. When we got to our appointment. I was told to pick up my dog in 2.5 hours bc it was a holiday weekend and busy. I should have just rescheduled then - that was my mistake. I came back in 2.5 hours. My dog had been washed, but not groomed and was visible from the front room. He was in the crate shaking like a leaf and panting. When I inquired as to why my dog was still in the steel kennel. I was told my dog would be groomed in another 30 minutes. Then, when I told the front staff that I was disappointed that the appointment I scheduled for 1 hour in duration turned out to be a 3 hour wait for my now stressed out dog. The front staff person and groomer's position was that it was a busy weekend. My point was that if you are going to be a high-end boutique don't pack them in like the big box stores or let clients know that the 1 hour service you promised in the making an appointment in advance is not accurate. Everyone can get behind, but this is overscheduling and also unnecessarily stressful for dogs. I was calm and cool and the front desk and groomer had no real ability to understand the issue - it was a lot of personal talk like "I can only go so fast". Which is not the point. Really disappointing experience and unnecessary stress for my dog.

Will not return. When this place changed hands last summer, everyone quit and prices went way up. Now its business base has dropped considerably, from what I can see, and I understand why. My 65-lb. dog would now cost me $30 to wash, and getting his toenails cut now would involve three separate fees: $5 for shaving between the pads, $25 for actually having the nails cut (by an inexperienced person), and then paying $10 to have this same person dremel around each nail to smooth the edges. The last time I went, since I was already there, I agreed to having my dog get the full-service pedicure, paying a whopping $40 to have an obviously inexperienced woman draw A LOT of blood from my dog's foot, something that had never happened before during the years I used this place before the new owner took over! And I left the establishment having paid $70 before tip for a visit that should have cost no more than $42 before tip.From now on, I'll just wash my dog at home or take him to Rub-A-Dub-Dog in Seattle on a day I'm running errands there. They charge $24 for a wash and $18 for a nail trim and dremel. Or better yet, I'll go to Tractor Supply in Silverdale and pay $10 to wash my large dog. Call for an appointment first if you choose this option.I really don't appreciate businesses that charge absurdly high prices compared to their competitors because they think they can. I also did not appreciate the new, untrained nail trimmer. I had her cut my dog's nails because I didn't want to hurt him. Then she did.

We've always loved the salty dog wash. Super simple to get your pup in, bathed, dried and out the door in 30 to 40 minutes. For our senior pup, who's 13 and 1/2 years old, Cheddar Pancakes, the best tub is the all metal one because there's a little belly band that helps hold her up due to her sore hips. It makes bathing so much easier. Fantastic start, A++

Great local business to wash my dog.It was quite loud (other dogs and background music) so a bit overwhelming for my puppy (and myself) just getting used to dog bathing.Super helpful staff (she actually blow dried my pup while I fed my dog treats). And received helpful tips as well.Tough to get in for a nail trim (booked months in advance).I’ll be back since it’s so close to my home.

I really missed going to Salty Dog Wash for my German Shepherd after a long absence due to moving, COVID, etc. The services are excellent: the dog tub, supplies, water hose, dryer, etc, all make the do-it-yourself dog wash pleasurable and comfortable . The staff are very pleasant and assist where necessary. I also love the ability to schedule appointments for the do-it-yourself wash. It is a great value for the services provided and both my dog and I enjoy the experience.

I just arrived back from my first visit to Salty Dog Wash and what an incredible place!!! They took our little "Bundle of Joey" clipped, cut, shaved, shampooed and he looks ADORABLE!!! He is a pure bred miniature long hair dachshund and in his 16 fabulous years he has NEVER looked better....EVER! All the staff are very warm, caring people and so good with our little "fur babies"! I cannot rate you high enough! Thank you for all you do!

I don’t usually write reviews, but I was just so thrilled with the service I received today at Salty Dog Wash that I had to share my experience. My dog is extremely resistant to getting his nails trimmed, his vet was unable to trim them, and after feeling hopeless about the situation for months, I finally called Salty Dog Wash. They were able to get us a same day nail trim appointment and they succeeded trimming his nails within 10 minutes! These are true professionals. I am so grateful to the team here, and will definitely be back!

What a wonderful place to have on the island. Professional staff and they do a fantastic job! My dog will not allow me to wash him so when taking him in its always nice to have him come home clean and fluffy. We go for the boss wash as that's all he can tolerate. I would recommend them highly to anyone who has a fluffy family member. I love that the staff gives him a bandanna to make him look handsome and cute. Well worth the expense!!

I've been going there for over a year. I love the self wash because they have everything i need, a reasonable price and i don't have to clean up after. They have great facilities including a big blow dryer, they keep things clean and they are very friendly and king to the dogs (and to us people too).

We walked in without an appointment with our two dogs to get a nail trim. The staff was very friendly and immediately started trimming their claws. They used a motorized trimmer which was a first for me. They said the trimmer allows them trim more of the nail without hitting the quick. We were totally pleased with the results.

First time for our “very lively” Wheaten mix. Must admit I was nervous given she needed her eyes trimming and she is only 4.5 months. Couldn’t be happier. The groomer assured me that even if I was nervous, she wasn’t 😊. All went so well, I shall be back soon for the first full groom.

It really is your best option. I’ve been taking my dogs for a long time now and am always satisfied. Their full service is excellent and self serve is super convenient and the staff is always available to accommodate.If you’re reading this review your interest is high enough that you should just go and find out for yourself. Good prices and excellent value.

Great facilities and awesome folks working there. We take our hound there whenever she needs laundering, and she comes out smelling like lavender (or whatever the other supplied shampoo smells like). Highly recommended.

The water was cold. The dryers were cold. The shampoo was so watered down. If I would have known I would have brought my own shampoo. The women helping us was very rude.
