WOW! What an experience! On a visit to the island, I came to this store with a friend based on a recommendation from another friend. She said that we absolutely had to meet the owner of the shop. That he was super interesting and would give us a quarter to play in a vintage slot machine. Unfortunately, when we got there, the owner was not at the shop.We enjoyed looking around at all the finds and my friend happened upon a jewelry case. Among the many glittering baubles in the case, a ruby ring jumped out at me. It was a stunner - but something I needed to think about. We continued to browse and about 15 minutes later, a gentleman walked up to us and asked if we wanted a quarter to play a vintage slot machine. We asked if he was the owner and he said yes he was and we told him that we came in to meet him today. We started chatting and he began telling us about some of the items in his shop. He literally knows the backstory on every item and can tell you the family, the date, and interesting stories around each piece. I mentioned that I was looking at the ruby ring and he told me that it came from the Armour (meat) family. He then went on to show me other pieces from the estate which were dated back to the early 1900’s – engraved Tiffany baby plates, engraved flatware, bunches of amazing things. The stories he told about the previous owner of the ring were amazing and absolutely sealed the deal.Denis, the owner, is fascinating and has truly amazing items in his shop that are all researched and come with great historical detail. Can’t recommend a visit enough. It’s truly a treasure of a shop. But hopefully you will have the opportunity to meet Denis - who makes the visit an incredibly memorable experience.

I didn't buy anything but it was worth it just to go inside. Such a cool selection of antique items, beautiful pieces. I also really liked the setup of each room, especially the room with the Asian items.

Abundance of antique furniture, porcelain (Meissen, Waterford, Staffordshire, Limoges), and other articles of finer living from a bygone era; Paintings, prints, piles of estate jewelry, lots of old glassware, Lalique, and artifacts of notable local provenance, and some odd quirky items of curiosity .. a must see-&-do cultural experience because all of it is orchestrated or curated by the proprietor who is a dramatic story weaver - and of course, every item has a historically interesting back story. Conveniently located downtown, within walking distance of the Seattle ferry, also with ample store parking.

An amazing shop! So many wonderful things to look at in here and it is beautifully laid out. It feels so homey. If you're really into antique shops I would def check this place out it is a must. The person who owns the place has a wonderful personality and is super helpful. I almost didn't go in since I was tired of exploring bainbridge but the owner came out and dragged my booty in there haha trust me it is a good thing I did. When I walked out of there I felt like I made a new friend and will be welcomed back with open arms.

Quite a lovely antique shop. Their collection is impressive. Many of their pieces, especially in their Asian antique section, are breathtaking or just really cool. Everyone who works there is helpful and knowledgeable!

The owner is aggressive, rude, unfriendly, unpleasant, and immature. Does not conduct himself in any semblance of a business owner. Between the vulgarity, profanity, and gaslighting, you could do much better elsewhere. Terrible experience overall.

Don't bother with this place if you can help it. An item that was quoted to me last week at $75 was jacked up to $100 when I came back for it yesterday just to be told "it was always $100." No, hun. 😂Feel free to shop here if you love gaslighting lolHonestly, just read other reviews about this person and judge for yourself. I don't know what he's been through, but there's no call for straight-up lying.

I have gone in twice, once just to look, once for a purchase. The owner was pleasant and informative both times. He took me around taking pieces off the wall telling me about them. This is a collection of highly curated finds and not a garage sale.

Studies show that if people are pleased with a store, they tell an average of one person. If they are displeased, they tell an average of 7. The owner of this store deserves any negative buzz that flies around Bainbridge Island, as he is UNBELIEVABLY, shockingly antagonistic and arrogant. I find hard to believe that anyone like that could possibly remain in business, especially in such an intimate community, or that he could possibly get along with anyone.Soon after I walked into his store, I mentioned to the owner that I had lost five people to Covid-19 recently, so he knew that I was in a fragile state of mind. Then again, he appeared to be so dense that perhaps he did not understand that. More likely, he is an immature person who just doesn’t care how anyone else feels.I considered four items in this store, but put back three because I felt one was too expensive, and the other two lacked price tags. Note to owner: Customers are skittish when antique items lack price tags, as we assume no research has been done on the pieces. After having asked for a price on one of the two untagged items, the owner quoted me $20. Only then did I notice a tag on it for $7.50. This experience led me to mistrust the owner, as I questioned the fairness of the price he had just given me verbally.I gave back to the salesperson all the merchandise I then decided against. As I was pulling out my credit card to buy the fourth item, the owner turned to me and said, “I just have to say that you are an incredibly annoying customer. You think you know everything, but you don’t.”I responded by putting my card away, buying nothing, picking up my belongings to leave, and saying, “I won’t be returning.”He yelled back, “GOOD!,” loudly enough for the six or eight other people in the store to hear. The owner appeared to be at least 60, but he acted like he was five. The owner’s dog is no better. I looked down at him and said hello when I approached the counter to buy the fourth item — he responded by growling and barking. I did not attempt to touch him. I said, “He just wants to be a baby,” to which the owner responded, “No, he just wants to be left alone.”Well, you got your wish, obnoxious owner of Pastiche Antiques. I will leave you and your equally obnoxious dog totally alone from now on.

Owner is rude, kept following my sister and especially me around the store . Was looking in a bowl at what I thought was jewelry (the bowl was completely amongst other items on sale too and practically displayed at the front) and owner rudely tells me they’re the keys to the cases and I apologized and he just like gave me the death stare? Also was in an an area and he immediately went to the spot i was and went “where’s the key that was there?… Oh there it is” . maybe don’t leave your keys in random spots around the shop first of all xD. Everything is WAY overpriced too, and it’s a really cluttered store. No wonder this store gets no sales !

I moved to Bainbridge Island this summer and have had a wonderful experience in all the shops I've been in. This community is incredibly friendly. That is until today when I brought my friend to Pastiche. We were interested in a couple of items and politely asked a price for each. We tried to negotiate a price for both purchases. Maybe we insulted him with the offer? If that's the case a simple, "the price is firm and I don't negotiate" would have sufficed. His demeanor was rude during the whole interaction and he even followed us through the store in a harassing way saying we were crazy to think he would accept an offer on these items. He was so incredibly rude and I let him know that he was "being very unpleasant" and he said "I don't give a sh*& honey get the hell out of my store". I have NEVER been treated this way by a store owner. His multiple "dear" "honey" "sweetheart" comments were condescending. I grew up with a family business and have worked for 15 years in a very customer service centered business. How we were treated was unacceptable and I can only hope he doesn't treat other locals -or visitors -in this way. It was despicable.

I do not recommend coming here. I did not feel welcome in this shop. The owner didn't even acknowledge us when we walked in and shopped (probably because we're younger folk). He did greet a few other customers walking in after us. Then, loudly complained about an item being a reproduction. He was loud and obnoxious. There is a dog in the shop that will follow people around and bark at them. The shop is cluttered and there is almost no room to walk around and look at items. Most of the items are over priced anyway.I recommend going to Zutto Vintage & Antiques instead. Staff are friendlier and prices are more reasonable.

Dennis is a true treasure - and out of all the riches in his shop, that's saying something! It wouldn't be a trip to Winslow without tea, biscuits and tittle-tattle at Pastiche. The lily starts Dennis dug out of his garden and sent home with three years ago have taken over a bed in my yard and the vintage tuxedos he had (that fit like they were tailored for me!) come out on every festive occasion.Headed over this weekend, with visiting family, and looking forward to hearing how Pastiche weathered the pandemic.

had a bad experience with the owner and went to google to check if others had a similar experience. to no surprise, my suspicions were confirmed: the owner of this store is so insufferable it’s almost funny. racially insensitive and just plain nasty - i’ve never seen such an old man act so childishly. can’t help but feel bad for him because clearly he sells next to nothing everyday and it’s hurting his ego. the store smells bad and it’s grimy and dusty. hope it closes its doors soon!

Do NOT go to this store. Why?I always try to post honest, valid and reliable reviews. This is the worst store which I have ever visited. Terrible experience. See reasons:1- The owner is a super twitchy, nervous and rude person.2- There is an aggressive young shop-boy. He is always behind you checking on you rudely.3- Most items in the store do not have price tags. If you ask for price, owner rudely gives you a price from nowhere. He rudely expects and forces you to buy.4- I can say by sure that all items are overpriced.5- The store smells really bad, nasty, dirty and messy.6- There is an unleashed dog in the store which follows you from when you enter the store and frequently barks at you.7- A couple was there for shopping. They asked the owner about few items prices, then asked "are the prices negotiable?" He was so incredibly rude and he said "I don't give a sh* and get the hell out of my store".8- I went to this store to buy but after few minutes, I ran a way.I do not recommend this store to anyone, even thinking to try this store. After this terrible experience, I went to other antique stores in Bainbridge island and also in Poulsbo. They are much normal stores. I bought several items from them.

“Haggling” for goods is a cultural norm in antique shops all across America - EXCEPT for Pastiche Antiques! One of my group attempted to negotiate a geode down from $100 to $80 and the owner flipped out!“$120” the shop owner declared. My cousin thought he was joking and laughed and tried to play along. But it quickly became clear, the shopkeeper wasn’t playing:“ No. $120. That’s how I roll. You lost it.” Then he made a big thing about it. It was so awkward it was funny! 🤣Look, we won’t buy anything, but I have to admit it was entertaining as hell! We’re going back next year to try to haggle with him again and see what happens. DEFINITELY visit and haggle with him about something - then enjoy the show! You won’t regret it! 🤣.“You lost it!” And “That’s how I roll!” Is now a family joke for us. Someone needs to haggle with this guy and make a tiktok! He’s untapped social media GOLD! A true character and you don’t even have to go to Disneyland!

The owner is very rude. Visited this antique shop as we love to purchase antiques and saw/heard the owner yelling at a couple to leave. Left the business as I don’t and won’t spend my money at any business that doesn’t have proper decorum. Ran into the couple in town and asked them what had transpired. The wife had moved her mask to take an airborne as the shop was full of people and there was no apparent airflow, and very hot, was going to take the supplement and give it to her husband and the owner yelled and kicked them out. Times are crazy but people seem to be crazier! Feel honored not to have spent my cash at a facist establishment. Do not go here!! There are plenty of other antique places to spend your money and the owner apparently doesn’t need any hard earned cash. People like this are the same people that will go into a restaurant filled with people with no masks and stuff their faces along side them. Try Zuttos they are much nicer, prices much more reasonable!

If 0 stars were possible, that would be my true rating. The owner was blatantly rude to someone in my group, which was unprovoked and uncalled for. How he stays in business I do not understand, because we all put down our intended purchases. And based off many of the reviews of his business- this is not his first time exhibiting this behavior towards potential customers

The owner is a terror. We visited yesterday and bought some items; the owner wasn’t at the shop and his boyfriend and another gal were there and very helpful. We came back the following day and the owner was there and was a complete psycho queen. Honestly THE WORST potential shopping experience EVER. He was yelling at patrons and kicking them out! Just TERRIBLE we left and won’t be returning. The owner responded that the folks were kicked out due to not wearing masks and that wearing masks is the law….It absolutely isn’t the law (if that’s true (about the folks not wearing masks) which I highly doubt, some people can’t wear masks for medical reasons) . Talk about facist/discrimination!! Remember when gays couldn’t come out of the closet without being ostracized or worse from society?! Yes it wasn’t that long ago..Shame on you! What goes around comes around! Abhorrent hypocrite!

My husband and I stumbled across this shop and it was as such a treat! Beautiful selection and the owner was so knowledgeable. He offered us a cup of tea and served it properly in china. A wonderful memory.

The owner was incredibly rude to my husband. He asked him to leave, and told him he was the most irritating and obnoxious person he had ever met because "it's not a coffee shop or a place for social conversation." A nice person and her son struck up a conversation with my husband the previous afternoon in the store. In the conversation, my husband mentioned that we are Mexican, and that there weren't many on the island. That's the only thing I can think of that would spur this reaction. I will never patronize that store.Despite the response from the owner, my husband did nothing to give offense upon his return except walk in. It's a horrible way to treat another person. Imagine being told you're the most irritating and obnoxious person by anyone.

Best authentic Antique shop in Seattle and definitely so much better than any Antique shops/centers on Long Island, NY. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and made my experience an enjoyable one. Thank you Denis for your help today. If you are looking to purchase authentic antiques, you can trust Pastiche Antiques to add to your collections.

If you prefer normal things and normal people, do not go to Pastiche Antiques. If you are more on the adventurous side, and you tend to gravitate towards things and people who are unique and eccentric, then do go to Pastiche Antiques.
