Blackbird bakery has great reviews and we were looking forward to going here. When we got here, they didn’t have the pastries we wanted as we probably arrived too late. Unfortunately, the coffee was just OK. The shop itself is really cool and the staff was nice, but not over the top friendly. This bakery is on a main strip so there’s steady foot traffic. We like this place, but the our expectations may have been too high.

I got a hot cafe latte from Blackbird Bakery on my way to Bainbridge Island. The quality of their coffee is great. The customer service was fast and the ambience was amazing as well. I wish they were open later, as I went there around 3.55 pm and was afraid I wouldn’t be able to place my order. Fortunately, I saw quite a few people entering the cafe after I did. Overall, a nice choice for good coffee.

TLDR; super long and slow lines, really nice pastries. When we got here (9.30am), the line probably had 7-8 groups ahead of us, and it took us about 20 minutes to get to the front. I got the savory croissant which was overall pretty quite nice. Unfortunately it felt a bit oily (not buttery) to me - I let it sit in the paper bag for a couple hours, after which it was perfect since the bag soaked up all the extra oil/butter.

Came for the gluten free, left because of the gluten free. I have celiac disease and was excited at the prospect of gluten free baked goods. However the cross contamination is huge here with gluten free baked goods in the same display touching non-gf items. Once again, the people who actually need gluten free can’t have it. I wish this business would have information on their website about their lack of safety protocols to save some of us a trip and disappointment to find out ourselves.

Really beautiful pastries that look as good as they taste. Small little place without a lot of seating, and rather noisy. Pretty good coffees as well. Great stop for a Sunday morning pick me up!Kid-friendliness: Brought our children and it was fine. Booths are available.

Located in a cozy street full of souvenir shops, wine tasting bars, local art, and museums, this bakery is a brisk 10min walk from the ferry port and a lovely spot to have a quick bite and a coffee. While there was a line, there was still lots of seating when I went around 8:30am on a Monday. Everything came out quickly and I enjoyed one of the best croissants I've had in a long time. The potato quiche was fluffy and hit the spot! I hope to be back again someday soon.

A must try bakery! Their cinnamon brioche bun was SO GOOD. We went in RIGHT before a rush of people, but we did feel just rushed to order since it's a smaller space. All the seating was taken so we took our order to go. Coffee is good but their iced sizes start at 16 oz, which for me personally is a lot. Still would recommend going as they have so many pastries, cakes, tarts, etc.

I came on a Wednesday around 11:30 and the place was packed. Orders were taken quickly. I tried many things but the most delicious and what they are famous for is the toast and jam. GET THIS!! It was the most amazing homemade raspberry jam on their thick-sliced whole wheat oatmeal toast. I also tried the banana walnut bread, molasses ginger cookie, savory croissant, chocolate chip walnut cookie, maple scone, and apple scone. All were delicious but the toast and jam were the best. Street parking - later in the day harder to find parking. They do have a bathroom.

This is such a charming little cafe with amazing breakfast options! I especially enjoyed the spinach quiche which was decadent and creamy with a perfectly baked crust. We also tried the cinnamon roll which was soft and fluffy as well as the savory pastry which was flaky and filling. Loved this as a stop to grab some pastries to-go and save for tomorrow's breakfast.Lots of street parking along the main roads, very easy to find a spot.

Had high expectations of this place based on reviews, a bus and two ferries later ventured out to be disappointed. Don’t order the minestrone if expecting minestrone. This bakery has other ideas. After taking my to go order back on the ferry, discovered I got a $7 veggie w/ beans soup. Called the place to inform only to be told that’s the way they make it and it needs to be gluten free. Pasta and rice is available GF. Suggested they should consider remaining their soup to Vegetable Soup or better inform their customers of their version of “minestrone.”In case you are not familiar with What's the difference between minestrone and vegetable soup?Minestrone soup is unique because it typically includes beans, pasta, or rice, as well as vegetables, and the ingredients are always left chunky (it's never blended), making it a heartier option. Vegetable soups are usually simpler and don't typically include beans or pasta, and you could have a blended vegetable soup.

I couldn't decide what to try. I had a Helen's French roll, a pumpkin cream cheese scone, and 2 cinnamon rolls to go. My London Fog latte was so yummy. We'll have to visit again to try more.

Casual ambiance. Server gave great recommendations on drinks and cakes. Smaller selection when we went at 2pm. Pumpkin cake and chai latter had strong flavor.

We got our wedding cake (3 tier + a GF berry cake) from Blackbird and were very happy with everything. The cake was wonderful - lots of compliments from guests! - in both flavor and presentation. Heidi made sure to work with us to provide exactly what we were looking for.We opted to pay for delivery and were very impressed with the service - they arrived on time and with all the skill and equipment required to make it a success.Thank you Blackbird for making our special day so sweet!

I am not even done with my meal yet and I needed to write this review because the Seasonal Pot Pie (v) is the most perfect pot pie I have ever had the pleasure of eating. In Jan, the golden beetroot was the prefect ingredient to fuel my shopping trip!

Returning back to the peninsula on the heels of a major surgery, we decided to have coffee and a bake good to celebrate the moment. We had been told that the Blackbird Bakery was the place to go to get top notch coffee and bake goods. Added to this it is close by to the ferry which met our time travel (hospital to home) restrictions. While the service was quick what we ended up with was abysmal; tepid coffee and horrible bake goods . We only discovered this once back in the car and we had to go. I cannot begin to emphasize our disappointment.

I read about this bakery in a visitor's guide and I see why - it's cute and the service is friendly. The real kicker for me though was the vegan chocolate applesauce cake slice I had. It was unbelievably moist, not too sweet, and had a great flavor. It was also just a bonus to find a vegan option for food since I was expecting to only be able to get a beverage here. The cake slice pairs well with espresso so I recommend treating yourself to both. Their espresso was good too - bold, rich, not burnt tasting like some places I've tried.

Amazing bakery. We got the spinach quiche, savory croissant and almond croissant. They were brilliant. We also got helens rolls, pear anise scone and chilly cheddar scone for later.

We have loved Blackbird Bakery since our first visit in 2005. It is always crowded and loud, and the customer service tends to suffer because of that. But, I learned I could place an order online and was able to pick up a full two potato quiche, four loaves of honey oat bread, and an extra large bag of their amazing granola for our guests enjoyment at our home. It worked out perfectly! Now that I know I can place orders, I will probably never suffer the toddler crowd again (no offense toddlers, you're adorable). My family devoured the quiche and toast and granola. Now I'm debating if I mail some to them when I make jam in the summer, but am afraid it will be one more reason for them to skip visiting me. Decisions, decisions. Thank you Blackbird for making your delicious food easy to access. :)

Very well priced with a wonderfully not-too-sweet lemon tart, the black bird merch is also very cute! A cozy place to stop by before catching the ferry.

Nice little bakery in Bainbridge. It's quite small though and they have an awkward system where two people take orders, which makes it uncomfortable for the left-side line to cross to the cashier. Additionally, the employee helping us select our pastries visibly zoned out while I was selecting my order, then she asked me to repeat it. The pastries were decent, but I'd probably try another option next time I'm on Bainbridge.

Ummmmm absolutely best mocha I’ve had in the PNW. Also tried the Vegan Chocolate applesauce slice and the “lady Yum”. Reasonable prices and such nice people! 10/10 recommend adding this to a stop on your bainbridge trip

Blackbird Bakery made our wedding cake and it was delicious and beautifully decorated. Heidi really helped steer us towards the right design and it turned out just right what we were looking for.

Wonderful local bakery. The prices have gone up since I first started going here, but it HAS been fifteen years! The toast and jam, the orange rolls, the vanilla sugar downtowners, and the vegan chocolate applesauce cake are my favorites! The coffee is pretty good too, probably the best on the island.

NOT cash-only, they take card too. Cinnamon roll, lemon blueberry scone, oatmeal apricot scone, and savory croissant were all outstanding. This was a perfect stop after getting off the ferry.

Seriously, they get my order wrong almost 1/2 the time, then I get attitude. Surly bunch. The toast and jam are very good and that’s the only reason I go from time to time. Coffee is okay...the barista cranks it out like Starbucks (that's not a compliment!). Trust me, do a search and take your $'s elsewhere.

Nice cozy coffee shop. Good soup and scones. A bit small seating area though. We shared table with people who stayed to read books for long time.
