What a great day it was to re-discover Anacortes and one of its shopping and browsing cornerstones: Marine Supply & Hardware, which also houses The Alley Cat. Eclectic, intriguing, historical with new and salvaged items as well as practical supplies, clothing & garden decor. Not the huge inventory of its previous incarnations, but certainly worthy of a shopping bag (or two). And Coffee – roasted to order in the store. Added bonus is the location: it’s like a perfect bookend at the end of the main street. Take time to park & walk a few blocks so you can enjoy the water views. Great proximity to some local trails as well! A big thanks also to store hosts Terri and Joanne; pretty sure they can locate any (inventory) item in under 2 minutes! Their casual and friendly attitude reflects a welcome, relaxed pace. Definitely a go-to for visitors and a continuing staple for locals.Sonia & James HarveyBurlington, WA

We were treated horribly by the manager of the store. This has been one of our favorite buying spots in Anacortes and we made a special trip to bring our friends out. She literally ruined it by being so rude as soon as we walked in the door. We will not be back as long as she is working there. Joanne was lovely and tried to make up for her rudeness. We were ready to purchase two deer mounts at $600 guess they don’t need the businessor our dollars

SCREW & LASH - THIS is the place for brass and stainless steel screws. Staff said hello and was approachable, yet not especially engaging.Great place to wander. You will get "hooked" once you start. Pricing was "OK", but on the high side for most of the tourist stuff (according to my expert shopper).Amazing boatyard just around the corner!

Cool place. Lots of novelty items and new stuff. To numerous to list. Store was a 3 generation business that was in business for 110 years. Met Gary today, worked there for 35 years. JoAnn was a pleasure also.

Oldest hardware store still operating on the west coast. Lots of marine related gear, clothing, boots, hats, tools, crab pots, fishing, etc. There is also an annex store called Alley Cat Antiques that offers fun old antique stuff for men and women!

I used to like this store...until today. My children and I love antiques, and one in particular enjoys the coin section (and has purchased MANY from this store in the past.) The woman manning the front this time was nothing short of unwelcoming and "Karenesque" with us. She incessantly followed us like we were freaking criminals, to the point where my youngest son and I decided to leave as she was practically herding us to the door and making us uncomfortable. When I attempted to make polite conversation to lighten the mood with her she became instantly defensive, snarky and wholly OFFPUTTING. The lady on the Marine side was kinder...however the seahag on the otherside wrecked the vibe entirely, and my son who was still admiring one particular coin just decided to leave without it because, "that women was making me feel unwelcome." Quite a shame as they have interesting items.

Great shop with anything you need and don't need. Gifts, antiques, and new stuff too. We spent over an hour looking at everything.

This is one of the most beautiful stores I've ever been in. A mix of new and old, finely curated, immaculately clean. Vintage items are fairly priced for their age, rarity. Reproductions are inexpensive. Can't comment on new items as I didn't purchase. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Check out the Alley Cat vintage shop adjacent.

It's kind of one large split shop, one half is antiques, and the other is pretty much a boutique marine shop. Fairly small focused selection on both halves, nice staff, cool store.

The shop workers are awesome and they LITERALLY have a little bit of everything. I was in search for a telephone cord and bam, they pulled out a box of them! Prices are great and I couldn’t suggest a better place if visiting the area.

This is such an eclectic store with items for kids that I didn't expect. Because they open earlier than most other stores, we wondered in there and were delightfully surprised!

What a great store. Very pleasant experience and they had the products I needed at a fair price. I would rather shop at a local establishment than a large chain. I'll be back!

When they had surplus and/or antique items I would have given them 5 stars. They used to have many interesting and hard to find things at reasonable prices. Since they downsized they are like a watered down West Marine with unexceptional stock and few deals. Should they go back to their old model I would recommend them.

If you are into nautical gear, you shouldn't miss this spot. It's a old-time place with some new gear, some useful marine items, and just a lot of interesting junk. Stuff can be hard to find if you're in a hurry. But if you like prowling around looking for the hidden gems, this is your kind of place...

Great place (OK the only) place to get nautical charts in stock. Most everyone has gone to print on demand and takes several days to get.

Interesting store that is for sure. Their prices are exhorbitant. The two male staff members need to be reminded the customer comes first.Neither have the skills to interact politely with potential buyers.

Love this store. I try to go in every time I go to Anacortes. This is not a junk shop, just a blast into the past.

If this store doesn't have it , it does not exist. Very cool marine supply attached to a antique nick back store which all have friendly staff. I saw several things I will store in the memory bank for the next time I break something which will be sooner than expected I'm sure. Take a look around, I'm sure you'll find it.

Very rude to my wife and I since we had a service dog. Told us we were not allowed to bring our dog in. They have a cat, that I am allergic to. Do not shop at this store!!!!!!

Lots of everything. Historic and irreplaceable. Losing this landmark would be a serious strike against me ever living in Anacortes again as it seems history is the last thing on the city councils mind and explosive growth is...

Wonderful little store with all sorts of different items, look hard enough and you'll find some very unique to the area items that you won't likely find anywhere else

Great working with Rick Sohns. He knows his business: very informative. Would return to this business pretty much because of his demeanor!
