Ace is the go-to store on the island for many reasons but for me what stands out to me about Ace, over that of even Lowes or HomeDepot, is the knowledge and willingness to help of the employees there. The Anacortes Ace is a special store. Over the last 8 years they have been a HUGE help to me and my husband for small to large projects around the house. But the other day I was helping my dad work on the boat and we needed some bizarre piping when this super friendly gal named Maree helped us and I mean holy cow. Her knowledge blew me away! Then we returned (same day) as the project progressed and Nate helped us. He also was a wealth of knowledge and so friendly and non judgemental with our questions and went the extra mile several times. Then Jakob I think his name was in the christmas area-- so friendly and helpful. I'm just at a point where I want to visit Ace for the awesome people that work there almost more than for the desire to fix things! The team at Ace is incredible. They seem like happy employees. That is hard to find these days anywhere you go! And they are all so incredibly knowledgeable-- it impresses me every time I visit the store. I wish I could name every employee when I say YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!! Thank you.PS If they don't have what you need they can order it for you. You just gotta talk to the many helpful people there!

I was there today and found the softest pale pink hydrangea that I've ever seen!! It was so beautiful I had to buy it for my 95 yr. young Auntie!! Absolutely her favorite color!!The whole staff there is so knowledgeable about everything they carry!! They all are long time employees so they really know their stuff!! Also you can find them again the next time you want to shop and have ? 's !! ☮️

Despite being a simple hardware store in a relatively small city, Ace Hardware goes above and beyond. On several occasions I have shopped in the garden department and have been amazed by the efficient organization and, dare I say, artistry of some of the plant presentations. Truly, whoever is responsible for the department is currently running one of the unknown gems of Anacortes, "The Ace Botanical Gardens", I call it. Aside from the sweet plants, the staff is always friendly and helpful, the selection of items is very solid, and the prices are fair. As far as hardware stores go, this has got to be one of the best.

The store didn't have what I was looking for but phenomenal customer service. I got approached 3 separate times asking if I needed help and from their tones they were genuine and it didn't feel forced. I will certainly be back.

Wow this was a rough one. Spent over an hour here waiting for a fishing license (they only take cash and check too). Was overcharged for my license and when I went back to correct it instead of reissuing my license for the correct amount the person was rude to me and then took my license and told me to call the state if I wanted it corrected. Gave me a scathing “your welcome” on my way out even though she knew I wouldn’t be able to fish or crab without a license.I went down the street to West Marine, got a license in 5 minutes from a friendly person who immediately saw the issue with my account and was on my way.PSA: go elsewhere for your licenses

Strange little parking lot. Make sure you go in the right way. We had a guy trying to come out the wrong way I was creating more of a havoc than it was needed if he would have just went the right way. So pay attention when you go in. Parking lot is strange. Storing employees are helpful

The garden is wonderful.I was a little taken back when I asked for help with a special 'bouquet' for a special occasion. I repeated that I was broke so I needed it to be cheap.I ring up at $70+ 😕The two helpers were so nice butI still felt like I was taken for a ride. 😒I like them for some things but I usually hit Sebo's first.

Very helpful staff! Willing to order anything they didn't have in-store. I left with everything I needed. Also, something that was nice, is they picked up everything heavy. I'm a small woman and it was so nice not to have to worry about it.

Okay I don’t get it! I went in to see if there was any discarded paint. Paint they either made the wrong color or was old etc… the boy behind the counter said they didn’t have any. Knowing the ACE store in my home town had a recycling program. I asked if they had any paint that was going in the trash. The boy left came back with 4 cans of paint. Two in one gallon cans and two in one pint cans. All had been opened and used. Paint drips and brush marks on all cans. All cans had less than full in them. I was appreciative to the boy for looking for me. BuT then he charged me for the paint! I said let me get this straight, this paint was already paid for then brought here for Recycling and now you’re going to change me for it. He said yes. I called the store when I got home to make sure this went down correctly. The manager said that it had gone down correctly. This is beyond okay! This is pure greed! The saying “Anacortes can’t afford us”, is so fitting!

Peanut rolls are still two for $1.00.Great local hardware store. Many knowledgeable people to help you find what you need. They will also provide good advice if you have a question. One of my favorite weekend stops. Don't forget the fee popcorn on the way out.

Again another one of my favorite places to go to gain knowledge on local planting tips.It is also the place I buy all my yard tools they have an exceptionally knowledgeable women who runs the tools store and I enjoy picking her brain along with the others who work there.I have bought plants, bird food, dog stuff, candy, FREE popcorn, I have bought, paint, different types of soils for planting, seeds, stuff for wall hangings, stuff for my shower, fixings for my walls...you need it, I think they might have it or they can get it.It's one of my happy places.

Good for propane and has a great garden section with outdoor plants. Lacking in choices for day to day hardware, but closer than HD-- if they have what you want. Nice crew.
