If you are by any chance in Wythevile, VI , you should try the local specialty > Skeeter’s world famous Hot Dog. The place is located on the center opposite to Bolling Wilson Hotel. There are open only from 11.00 to 15.00! So plan Your trip properly. I recommend “build-your-own” option, so you can pick exactly what u like!

Great nostalgic place to drop by for a good hotdog and fries. The servic was great with very friendly staff. We ate at the counter on the red swivel stools that so many others have used before us. Great trip back in time for all of us!

Got the Skeeter dog and fries. Every time I come through Wytheville at lunch time I stop and get one. The ambience is great.

This place is delicious. While road tripping through the area, we and friends stopped for lunch to see if the dogs really were as good as they claimed. They were so good that we timed our trip home to hit Skeeters for lunch again 4 days later. I could easily eat 2-3 hot dogs.

Had the slaw dog which was good, the fries were really good, a bit crispy on the outside and not mushy on the inside. The staff is friendly and the food reasonably priced. The seating could use some updating, rather uncomfortable and worn. Maybe there is a point to that!

While in Wytheville, VA one of the first things we did was stopped into "Skeeters" for a "Skeeter Dog" Ranked in the Top 64 Hot Dogs in America in "Everyday with Rachael Ray" Magazine, we had to have one! It was great!!! The building is a simple corner joint that has nostalgia galore! Sold for a nickel back in the day, the price has changed, but the hot dogs are the same! A fun (and yummy) stop!Parking: We were able to get a spot on the street, wasn’t crowded at the time we stopped.Kid-friendliness: Kid’s menu available. High chairs.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, tables, restroom and parking.

Came in on 5/2/24 for lunch ..nice, old school atmosphere inside with places to sit inside and outside.... ordered the Red hots and all beefs ..dogs were cooked to perfection, and the fries fresh and crispy....asked for gluten free buns, wait staff said they didn't have any, owner came in just as wr finished and said they did have them....oh well...it was still delicious!

Skeeters’ heyday is long since past. The place is fairly run down and the counters appear to be some type of pressed board or plywood so I am not sure how they are able to be cleaned adequately. The two young ladies working were preparing food and handling money without wearing gloves or washing hands. One of the two had a very runny nose and was so busy she just wiped her nose on her sleeve and kept going. My husband and I ordered together: a BLT, cheese fries and a slaw dog. We drank water and the bill was just shy of $20. The food was cheap in quality (red dye hot dog, small thin slices of white bread for the BLT, and liquid cheese product on the fries). I wanted this to be the soda fountain/ hamburger and hot dog joint of my youth, but this one misses the mark in quality, cleanliness and taste. The ladies were nice so I gave 3 stars. The business only gets 1 star.

Cute place. Lots of vintage decor. We were there on a very busy day and the waitresses were still friendly and the food was good. Hot dogs are a unique red color. Historical building. Worth the stop.Closed on Sundays.

So I’d like to consider myself a bit of a hotdog connoisseur so in staying the night in Wytheville, this was a no brainer stop in for me and my gf. I have to be honest, the hotdogs aren’t the best I’ve ever had but between the price, the toppings, the friendly attentive service, the prices and a bit of Americana nostalgia, I have to give this a 5 star rating..it’s a must stop in and have a sit and try something on the menu kinda place. Outdoor seating is available but I recommend the diner style barstools myself!

We ordered the chili cheese dogs. They were delicious.The staff was pleasant. And we got to eat outside at the little tables that they have outside their store. Which was great cause we had our little chi with us. And Somehow the bricks they have on their sidewalk were way cooler than the sidewalks nearby. A nice little place to visit for lunch

Awesome historic spot with great food at great prices. The toasted buns made the "umburgers" great, and the chili cheese dogs were great. They are steamed red hot dogs and the chili is delicious. The family size fry fed all 5 of us easily. They were out of "baby coke" bottles this time.

Normally, I love this place and was really looking forward to it, but this time the owners were morose and stressed, the counter was sparse compared to last time, and adding a topping they don't normally add became such an issue that I just gave up. I enjoyed the dogs and the decor, as usual. But guys, if someone asks for BBQ sauce don't make them feel like they asked for truffles and say how that ain't the Skeeter's way. Just say you don't have it. ;)

We love to travel and supporting local business when possible - especially older cute ones. This one was on the radar as it had an old school appeal. So when we were finally in the area, we had to give it a try. We expected more old school but saw a good bit of reproduction stuff instead. We felt the food just meh.... Price was a bit over $13 for 2 dogs and small fry - no drinks or anything else. We felt quality and portion size was lacking - especially at this price. We felt the food quality was similar to low end grocery store products - crinkle cut fries, bubble gum pink dogs boiled, white enriched flour basic buns, etc... lacking flavor. We had to try it based on the other reviews but were quite disappointed. After consuming this $13+ meal we proceeded to go to another establishment to get enough food to call it lunch.

It was like taking a step back in time to enjoy the simplicity of a perfectly smoked hotdog and Slush Puppy. We were warmly welcomed and had great service. We felt a sense of pride and got to read up on the history of the place. Recommend!

The home of the world famous hot dogs, Skeeter's is a hometown favorite in Wytheville VA. Surprisingly, the hours are from 11 to 3 pm! So make plans to visit before they lock the doors. We found ourselves racing down the interstate at 85, looking for state troopers, and walked in at 2:58! Whew, what a relief. The nice waitress & cook helped us choose from the large selection of hot dogs. We went with The Works and the recommended Big Texas. We enjoyed them both.
