I can’t say enough about Ridgeside. We just had our dog Kevin there for the two week board and train puppy university. Mike was Kevin’s trainer and he is amazing! Kevin is a very, very sweet boy, but he is huge and would drag us down the sidewalk, jump on counters, eat our plants, furniture, shoes, etc. and basically listened to nothing. We picked Kevin up today after his training and spent three hours learning how to keep up with everything Mike taught him. We feel so empowered to keep this going and Kevin is like a brand new puppy! Same lovable, sweet, fun dog, but he listens! He has leash manners! He doesn’t jump on everything and if he does, we know how to correct the behavior in a way that he understands, as well as reward good behavior in a way he understands. I cannot tell you how much relief I feel and how much JOY this brings me knowing that we can enjoy him but also have some control over his behavior, which is so important with also having four kids in the house. Everyone we met at Ridgeside has been so awesome. They all care about what they do. I can’t say enough about Mike though. We SO appreciate all the work and time that went into training Kevin and the love he clearly has for the dogs he trains. I would give a 10 star rating if I could and Kevin will be back for swimming and boarding when we go on vacation. If you’re on the fence, check them out. Very worth it! Thank you again, Mike!

We obtained Ryder a few days after his first birthday from someone who simply didn’t want him. He is a big, energetic boy, a mix between a Great Pyrenees and a Black-Mouth Cur. Ryder had not had the best dog’s life; in fact, he was not accustomed to any handling and was used to only having his basic physical needs met, but in a substandard way. He was usually chained and kept in the previous owner’s backyard. Ryder didn’t know basic commands, had never been on a leash, had never ridden in a vehicle, and didn’t even know how to play with a toy! However, when we met him, he stole our hearts when he looked at us with his soft, brown eyes and rested his head on one of our feet.Our daughter told us about Ridgeside K9, a place where two of her dogs had been trained. We saw how well-behaved they are and were convinced Ryder would thrive with such guidance. We made the decision to drive from Texas to Virginia to enroll him in the two-week canine training package, and we are so glad we did.Ryder didn’t have any particular behavior issues or aggressive tendencies to correct, but he learned basic obedience words that, with occasional reinforcement, he responds to very positively. Ryder likes his freedom, so the ability to keep him off the leash yet keep him safe and maintain control is a huge plus. When he sees the training collar go on, he anticipates something fun is going to happen. A well-trained dog is such a joy, and we have benefited from Ridgeside K9’s training as much as Ryder has.Thanks, Ridgeside K9!

My wife and I just picked up our furbabies Sadie and Sally after a 3 week foundational training course today.I was literally stunned as to how well our girls now behaved!They are literally different dogs now.. I was able to walk them tonight with a leash and neither of them gave me any hassle at all!They follow commands, have impulse control and the amazing trainer Emily left us with more then enough training for ourselves to ensure continuity of process and routine so that the girls continue to evolve from mischievous puppies into well behaved best friends for life!Thanks Ridgeside for being best in class!-Brian K

My husband and I could not be more pleased with the results our two miniature poodle puppies got through training at Ridgeside K9. After meeting with one of their trainers for a consultation, we chose the three-week day training. The trainers and other employees treated our pups with love and kindness, and our dogs were excited to go to “school” every day. Ridgeside posted pictures online every day, and they even had a party for our dogs on their first birthday! Their trainer EJ did an amazing job both working with our dogs and training us on the final transition day. He was extremely thorough, and we left with a clear understanding of how to continue our dogs’ training at home. It’s been three months now, and the pups’ behavior and obedience are just as good, if not better, than when they left Ridgeside. They look forward to our daily training sessions, and they’ve become even more affectionate and connected to us. We give Ridgeside our highest possible recommendation.

We did a two week board and train with our 6 month old lab/ hound mix. I must say I'm completely amazed with how much they taught him! On the first night back at home we were able to eat a meal in peace while he stayed in "place". Unbelievable! He clearly bonded with his trainer Sidney, he gave her the sweetest goodbye hug and kisses! I only wish we could take Sidney home to train us 😅 Thank you Sidney and Ridgeside k9!

My dog Bo did training at the Winchester facility. The experience was amazing from start to finish. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. I recommend Ridgeside to everyone that is looking for help with their dog. I will continue to use them in the future for other services.

Had our lab trained with Aaron when he ran the business out of his Bluemont location about 5 years ago. We needed to board him recently for a few days and even though we had to make the trek from Ashburn to Winchester, it was well worth it. Aaron is a fellow vet and a long time friend who I can trust with high drive dogs. Our lab requires lots of exercise and we knew they could help. He had daily treadmill sessions and spent time with some new friends.Pro tip - we had him bathed at their new grooming facility next door right before we picked him up, super convenient!

Our almost 5 month old GSP puppy (Duke) completed his 10 day and 2 week training with Zach and the difference in his behavior is unbelievable! We walked into Ridgeside wide eyed and overwhelmed with where to start with such a high energy dog and right from the beginning they paired us with a trainer who’s familiar with hunting dogs. Zach is just awesome….he sent us daily updates/photos and answered any questions that we had. We did two week training turnover on 6/27 and its amazing to see how much Duke had learned! We no longer feel overwhelmed and are able to enjoy this super sweet pup that we brought into our home💙

We sent our Boston Terrier, Jerry, to Winchester Ridgeside K9 board and train program for puppies and adults. Jerry understands all of his commands and we are very comfortable with him being off leash, when appropriate. The results have been amazing, and we continue to use the Winchester facility for Doggy Daycare and Boarding when traveling. Jerry loves to see his trainer, Ariel, when he goes to daycare or if she boards him. The staff and facility are amazing and I would not trust my dog with any other. Ariel and the facility welcomes any questions I may have with regards to Jerry’s training. He is safe, happy, LOVED, and well cared for while in Ridgeside K9’s care.

We brought our 7 month Pomsky Jasmine in for training and were very satisfied with the results. I have owned big dogs in the past, but nothing as energetic as a husky or breed mixed with husky.She has always been a sweetheart, but we can now enjoy walks without her trying to drag us, and she does better around people. Just last night, I was able to walk her in Sportsmans warehouse, and she was okay letting a little girl and mother pet her when normally she would have shied away.Shannon did a wonderful job helping her learn the basics. She can now walk well on a leash and respond well to minor corrections. she still loves to chew on sticks, but all teething puppies do.

Our Rottie has been going to RSK9 Daycare since she was 10-weeks old and LOVES it. She is a high energy dog and always comes home tired, especially if she swims. She has also been boarded at RSK9 and comes home happy and healthy. RSK9 is her home away from home and loves all employees too!

Had my dog groomed for the first time ever here. They were absolutely amazing. The receptionist was so sweet and came out to meet my dog and then the groomer came out to go over what my ideas were for the haircut. She was so patient with me and set realistic expectations based on my dogs fur and breed. When I picked her up she looked better then I anticipated! Definitely would recommend!

Ridgeside K9 has been nothing but amazing for our girl, Kona! She started going to doggy daycare about 8 months ago as a puppy, where they loved her and took great care of her, even with all her access energy. In December, we were able to have Kona trained with EJ, and wow! It’s a night and day difference in her manners, excitability, and neutrality. And today, Kona had the privilege of being the first client for the grooming salon. The groomer did an excellent job with Kona! She returned to us happy and adorable. Everyone we have interacted with at Ridgeside have shown nothing but love and respect for our fur baby, and we couldn’t be happier that we found them for her care. Thank you, Ridgeside! Thank you for taking such great care of our girl at day care, for the amazing work EJ accomplished with her during training, and to the new grooming salon where she will be getting groomed from now on. Came back to a dog with kennel cough thankfully we were able to get something for it. Our biggest concern was that we found a bite under his neck. Won’t be returning. Our dog has stayed in many dog boarding places and loves playing with other dogs and this is the first time we found him back with a bite. It’s healing now after a vet visit. We only have one dog and he hasn’t been exposed to any other dogs anytime before coming to Ridgeside K9 Winchester. That’s how it’s determined he received this while we were away.Update: I appreciate the response, but I must say that I was disappointed by the tone of your message. It came across as rude and defensive, which is not the kind of communication I expect from a professional company. The incident has already occurred, but I believe it’s important to provide honest feedback for consumers and you can take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of other pets in your care. I hope that you will take this feedback seriously and make the necessary changes to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Our dog, Lola, did a 3 week board and train with Bernie and it truly changed our life. The dog we got back was still our dog, but better! Bernie helped her have a purpose and recognize boundaries. She knows how to calm her puppy energy and is much safer for our kids. She loves to practice her ongoing training and get all the treats that come along with it. We couldn’t be happier with our experience with Ridgeside K9 and the training and guidance that Bernie provided! I would highly recommend them to anyone with a dog!

I rescued a 3 year old dog who was very nervous to the point it was impacting quality of life. Gina taught him all of the obedience commands which gave me the language to communicate with him and in turn built up his confidence. He is now a happy, confident, and well behaved dog. I can’t say enough good things about this place. We started bringing our 3 month old standard poodle Roxie here everyday for daycare and she absolutely loves it. Checking her in and out of daycare has been seamless. They always remember which puppy is mine. Roxie recently graduated from their Two-Week Board and train Puppy Program. Shannon was her trainer and she did an outstanding job training Roxie! Shannon has tought Roxie about 6 commands & Roxie executes them every time. I am so grateful for Shannon and the whole team at Ridgeside K9 Winchester. Once Roxie is 5 months we will bring her for the Three-Week Off-leash Board and train program!

Just went for consultation but they seem to have the area very well worked out, showed me all around and answered any question I had. Will share again once my pup has gone through the puppy training.Update, my pup has been home from puppy training and then back for her adult training. Ridgeside K9 trainers are the best! I'm so glad I put her in training there. A neighbor came up for a walk with their dog this evening and he couldn't get over the change in my dog, he was very impressed, as well as my cats were very pleased as well! Sydney was simply amazing. I am a novice first time owner and at turnover she made sure I was highly educated about the training Walter got. I could tell she really really cared about him. I wanted the best for my dog and that’s just what I got. THE BEST. 1 day after training we went right in the field and he recalled off leash from 50 yards out. Also stayed close by on the trail just on his own. I couldn’t recommend the team enough. Top flight outfit you all have!

I'm super happy with Ridgeside K9's training for my dog. The trainers really know their stuff and went above and beyond what I expected. They get how dogs think and their training really changed my dog for the better, teaching obedience and way better social skills.Ridgeside K9 cares a lot about making sure both the dog and the owner learn what's needed. Their way of training is easy to understand and it really works. I totally recommend them to anyone who needs great dog training. They handle everything with a lot of care and know-how.

Zach H. at Ridgeside K9 Winchester, VA was an absolute GIFT to us and our 11 mo. old Malinois. We are so grateful to him. We are a 3x Malinois family over 30 years. We saw reactive behavior unique to this boy that had to be addressed. Our pup board trained with Zach H. for 4 weeks in his home. Zach gained his trust, treated him as a family member, and worked with him in many different situations loaded up with distractions (parks, stores, their training center around other dogs, dog pool). We received daily updates and photos/videos. The type of training he did is excellent for Mals generally and was perfect for our pup because too heavy of a hand can easily backfire. Zach had great success and worked patiently with me to understand the new techniques. All signs are that it has transferred to me even though I am the main "protectee" in our pup's eyes. We can't thank Zach H. and Ridgeside K9 Winchester enough for turning us around onto a positive path. It was truly life changing for our family. We will definitely continue training with them in the future.

We are so thankful to have sent our pup to Ridgeside. Not only is their facility top notch, but so is their staff. Our pup, Ranger, worked with Sydney as his trainer. She not only got the results we were hoping for, but we know she treated him like her own and with tons of love. At our turnover, which they happily made work with our schedules, Sydney walked us through everything, answered all of our questions and Ranger showed off all his hard work. We are now able to communicate with him so much better outside and off-leash. Sydney helped us understand how ecollars work and de-bunked and negative association we use to have. We will certainly be sending any future pups to them for training but also have a facility we trust for boarding, grooming, etc. Thank you Ridgeside!

Boarded 2 dogs for first time and was not happy with the deceptive pricing online regarding the boarding costs listed on their website. Its is listed as $55 per day per dog for overnight boarding and was charged $110 per dog ($220 total) for 1 overnight stay. While the staff person checking me out was trying to explain the badly written website another customer came in and said the exact same thing happened to her when she first used their boarding services. The nice staff person said a lot of customers have said that as well but they couldn't update the website themselves. So just changing the wording online to reflect it will be $110 per dog for one overnight stay and not try to bait and switch when people come to pick up their dogs. This is a vet and police run business, you should do way better at making sure you do things the right way and not try to swindle money out of customers. A website review of how the overnight boarding price is listed is needed asap.

My dog blue has her second board and train with Ridgeside and I am left for a second time, amazed by them. Blue was trained with Gina and she was absolutely amazing from start to finish. We had a phone call prior to training then daily updates throughout and an hour plus session for pick up.Blue went from lunging and barking at dogs to calmly passing them and checking in with me. Thanks to Gina she is the dog I always hoped she could be. Gina has truly given me and Blue a new lease on life. I cannot say enough good thing about Gina and all of ridgeside, I will forever recommend anyone to them!

We have had nothing short of incredible experiences with Ridgeside! When Steele was a puppy we took him to Doggy Daycare there and eventually decided to get him trained by them as well!We get so many compliments now about how well behaved Steele is, which is a blessing in itself and while we haven’t been back for months (simply because we didn’t need their services) I dropped him off today to board him while we are out of town for New Year’s and as soon as I pulled up, they knew exactly who I was, and who my pup was. It’s this kind of service and personability that keeps us going back time and time again.I always know Steele is in the best hands! They also post photos of ALL the dogs EVERY day so I can always see what my baby is up to. I truly cannot speak higher of this business and would 11/10 recommend them to everyone for any of their services!
