What a phenomenal book shop with a well-educated and friendly team! Trevor and Deb made our experience enjoyable, with helpful suggestions in their clean and thoughtfully organized store. We left wishing Winchester wasn’t several hours from home, because we would certainly visit Blue Plate Books more frequently. Unbelievable how many books are in this store, they have any book you could ever want. Laid out by types, so it is easy to find what you are looking for. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.

Fave used book store in Winc. Usually can find what I want and if I can't, I ask and they've had it in stock before. Clean, well lit and really good layout, I'm usually not good at navigating stores and finding what I need but in Blue Plate Books I rarely have to ask where something is. But if I have to ask, the front desk people are always happy to help. Been going here for years and never a bad experience. They buy gently used books and take donations.

Honestly the best bookstore I've ever visited. Tons of classic and out of print novels. The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere are well worth the 3 hour drive from where I live, just love this place. I even managed to snag an edition of Mario Puzzo's The Godfather before it was a film!

Absolutely amazing. I didn’t expect a small town book store to have such a collection but I think they have something for everyone. Very reasonable prices too. I got three books but there were many others I could’ve got it was hard to choose! The staff is nice and will not bother you unless you ask for help. I was in there for awhile and they had no issues with it.

I've always loved spending time here. It's well organized, cozy, and there are multiple seating areas. Books are fairly priced & staff is friendly. I've spent many hours browsing and reading snippets of books without staff hovering.

I brought in a box of books that had over $200 worth of books in it, about 25 books. The man at the register takes about 8-10 of them and gives me $8 for them. I ended up spending more money to get to this shop than to sell the books I had. Most of the books he left were in great condition, but had a few creases on the cover or a crack in the spine. The man refused to take them off my hands even for free. This place does not take books that are “gently used” or out of print.

I love everything about this bookstore. There is a wonderful selection for everyone, lots of new titles, lots of classics. The graphic novel section in the young adult section is worth a visit with your teens. The books of local history shouldn’t be missed. These are first class publications, not your dent and scratch books at a yard sale.

Good Ma and Pop place, wide variety collection to choose from and in very good condition books.Update since last few revisits:. An amazing store that has awesome book finds. Also Noel one of the employees there is a rock star employee. The last time I went in there, I gave her a very vague idea of what I was looking to read next ie sci-fi, no specific author, easy to read, etc. Noel went above and beyond and found 3 books for me to start off on my next reading adventure which was: American Gods and City of Dark Magic and City of Lost Dreams.The awesome staff at this store make this an amazing place to go to! 🙃

Some of the books were very pricey, saw a paperback with bent pages and creases and it was $12? I try and support local but that's just....very steep for me. I can get the same paperback on amazon for the exact same price, brand new. I also wasn't impressed with the selection...there was almost nothing for women. Young Adult & Romance designated sections being the ones I was looking for. For a store that boasts over 60,000 books, you'd think they'd want to have a lil something for everyone. I did enjoy the aesthetic of the store however and found the environment cozy and welcoming. Maybe I'll return one day and they'll have something for me.

This is an absolute hidden gem folks. Tucked back in a little shopping strip beside a barber shop this adorable book store sits. The gentleman behind the counter had a very warm and inviting "Hello" for us the moment we stepped inside. It has that "old book" smell (not the old moldy book smell) to it that book lovers like myself enjoy. Yes I smelled a few books while I was there (don't judge me haha). They have the cutest set up for children's books that separates younger kids from the older kids in 2 separate rooms with a reading area and easy to read labels on the shelves for the kids to follow. My kids loved it and easily found a book to buy while we were there. Both gentlemen at the front were warm and kind. As we were climbing into the car to leave my 8 year old said "That guy was nice. Can we come back here again?". Little things like that let me know I think we found a keeper on our list of places to frequent in the Winchester area.

Friendly and responsive staff, excellent communication on the phone. Rapid, safely packed, reasonably priced shipping over a 600-mile distance. If I'm ever in northern Virginia again, I'll stop by to shop in person. Highly recommended!

One of the few businesses that I actually enjoy shopping at. Large selection of used books in great condition. Well organized, clean. I do not live close but I make it a point to go to Winchester every few months and buy books. A great selection of noir category mysteries.

I’m always super excited to go here and find myself something but I always leave a little disappointed. I do find things for myself on occasion. The staff is super nice and welcoming.The selection of books just leaves a bit to be desired. They don’t even have an LGBT section, not trying to say they don’t have any LGBT books but if they do they’re mixed with other subjects. I’m also not trying to say they have anything against it, but probably just overlook it. I’m sure this store represents and services many different people, I’m just not sure I’m one of them.

If you are a book lover you must stop here. They have all kinds of books, not just old book more recent ones too. Love the little kids room with the sitting area in it. There is definitely something for everyone. Staff is very friendly. I was also looking for a German book to send to my mom and yes they had a few there too. Very cool place!Bathroom is at the store.

I've always liked this peaceful book shop. It seems small on the outside but inside is surprisingly spacious! They have a great selection of epic poetry which is where I've nagged most of my Divine Comedy hardbacks at, and for comic and manga collectors they have a nice sizable but not overwhelming selection of both and lots of oddball titles that you probably wouldn't find elsewhere. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful as well.Really, out of all the places I've been up in Winchester having lived around here my whole life, this store is the one with no problems that I've actually experienced thus far. Definitely give them a whirl of you enjoy reading stuffs 😊Oh btw do be sure to flip open the books before purchasing, I once found a still active $100 Martin's gift card in a WoW manga after I had gotten home. Was a great surprise!!

Absolutely one of the best bookstores I’ve ever visited! I live over an hour away but will be back as often as possible. Book lovers beware: they have a section of lovely signed editions from several amazing authors. I even managed to find pristine editions of a few old fantasy books I’d had and lost since high school. I did find their selection of graphic novels limited, but that’s not what I was there for and there are comic shops to sate that need.A must visit for anyone who loves books, hands down.

Blue Plate is the best place in town to go for a relaxing afternoon. I could spend hours basking in the comfortable store interior. If you have boxes of also books at home you need to get rid of fast blue plate will give you a couple dollars (which I usually put right into a new book). 5 stars, would recommend!

Stood their and watched him scan in 10 books to Amazon that ran up threw them $100,$50,$150,$45 ect that was in mint condition and never opened- A particular books that was actually worth some money one we were counting on to fetch at least 500 for He goes and offers 8 bucks for All of them con-artists if you ask me

I buy hard back books there every now and then. Good selection of kids books and history books. Books are clean and not missing pages.If you like paperbacks they have rows of them. Parking is a little dicey at lunch time because of the Dairy Queen on the corner. I have seen books there that I read as a kid that I pick up for my Grandchildren.

If you are looking for a unique, well run local used book store, this is your place.There is a great selection of material here. The amount of titles inside this place will surprise you.
