Please be careful if you plan to use Greensprings Pet Resort. We rate their pet sitting services as average (3 stars) because we have only used them once for a 1-week vacation. We were non-plussed but puppy came home clean, safe and sound. Interestingly, we were never allowed to see beyond the front lobby despite our request, and we were not provided any photos during his stay despite assurances that we would be. Again, non-plussed.Their grooming service is another matter (1 star). Three weeks ago our mini-doodle puppy was groomed there. By arrangement, it consisted of a bath and trim "after morning time at the kennel". Both we and our puppy were very pleased with the grooming (see photo taken on the lawn of the Pet Resort immediately after grooming). Three weeks later we took him in for repeat services. I received a phone call within an hour of drop-off directly from the groomer stating that the puppy would need "cutting" due to matting, which I knew he had on his belly. When I asked about morning time at the kennel, she said they were grooming him then or else he would not be ready by 1 pm. I agreed but, unfortunately, did not clarify the definition of cutting. When my husband and I picked him up at 1 pm we were told he was "still on the table". When he was brought out, he was shaved to the skin with "poodle" ears and tail (see photo taken upon arrival at home after second grooming). If our puppy hadn't been delighted to see us, we would have sworn they gave us the wrong dog. We were beyond disappointed. To make matters worse, we paid $20 more for the same "set of services" as the first time.Did we pay for shearing and crate time? I suspect there never was "morning time" and that grooming probably took several hours. Fair enough but we deserved a better explanation up front and charges should reflect only grooming services. I called the front desk staff several hours later to express our dismay with the radical grooming. I was told that "this is what she had to do" and that "it would have hurt him to brush him". In other words, the staff shifted responsibility to the pet-owner/pet. Not once did the staff validate our concern or offer any type of apology. Extensive matting was simply not the case (see third photo taken 1 week ago). These types of dogs are furry and require regular grooming which is why we scheduled grooming after only three weeks. Perhaps a pre-grooming photo from by the groomer to justify the radical cut would have been in order. Likewise, If she did not have time or want to take the time to do careful brushing and trimming, then we should have been informed. If the groomer was only experienced with poodle cuts, then we should have been given the option to reschedule. So many options.... and we were not offered any.Our puppy is fine and his hair will grow back. We love him all the same. Our issue is with the obvious miscommunications, not only between the groomer and us, but also between the front desk staff and us. No transparency whatsoever. We would not recommend these Pet Resort services under the current circumstances.

My pup loves the Pet Resort at Greensprings! We have a rescue German Shephard, and we wanted to keep her socialized with other dogs so decided to send her to doggie day care at Greensprings twice a week...plus she's still young, so she can burn some energy. The staff is fantastic and always takes great care of her. Our dog's favorite seems to be Jessica, but everyone there has been great, all the way up to the owner(s). They all have gotten to know our dog well and we are always confident she is in great and caring hands. We use them for both doggie day care and boarding, we have been extremely happy, and our dog loves going there. I highly recommend!!

I’ve been very pleased with Greensprings! The staff is always welcoming and friendly even when very busy. I’m pretty particular and like things done a certain way. I never feel like I’m a burden by emailing and asking for updates during my doggos stay.

When I began looking for reputable boarding services for my "special needs" blind dog, two of the three facilities were not willing to take on the responsibility/liability for a blind dog. The Pet Resort at Greensprings was the only one who replied that they would happily take on the responsibility for my special needs dog. And his needs are not super difficult... just some patience, understanding, love, and humor is all that was needed. I have been overjoyed with the care, attention and love that the staff and owners, Jill and Jeff, have provided. The relief in knowing that my dog is in caring hands is amazing. I am aware that he could get hurt himself or get hurt during his visits (that's inherent anywhere) and I'm also aware that he could get sick during his visits (also inherent) but I have complete faith that the owners and staff take his care very seriously and would do everything possible to help him out. His tail is always wagging when he arrives and it's wagging when he leaves. I couldn't ask for anything else. Thanks Jill, Jeff, and their caring staff! You have a customer for life.

I gave one star because I left my 13 year old lab/retriever and my 5 year old boxer/terrier on Saturday . I never received any photos of their day, and when I checked in on them I was told they were fine and nothing to report. When I picked my boys up on Monday my 13 year old lab/retriever was covered in feces. They sprayed him off and gave him to me wet. I ended up taking him to the ER because he was not acting right and where he needed fluids and antibiotics. My poor old man had colitis and dermatitis. He could hardly walk his paws were so sore. They neglected my baby and took no accountability. I am so disgusted. I was not allowed to pick him up on Sunday because they are closed. That was a medical emergency and I should have been called. My dog could have died. Never again will I trust these people with my family. BTW I’ve called 4 times with no answer. The owner NEVER contacted me!

I left my dog here for a week while I went on vacation. He sometimes gets reactive around other dogs when he’s on a leash and we’ve been working with a trainer who recommended a pronged collar. I brought him in using that collar and asked to take it off in the lobby, assuming they would have a slip leash to use to take him back. They did not. The girl taking him back said they would take it off. When I picked him up he was wearing the pronged collar. I assumed they had put it back on. Once at home, I found that the collar was caked in blood and fur and he had multiple open wounds all around his neck. One looks infected. Nobody said anything to me at pick-up. He was supposed to be bathed on his last day there. I don’t know how they could have done that and not noticed all of these huge scabs and injuries. I think they left that metal prong collar on him for 7 days and nights. How many people handled and “cared” for my dog during that time and no one noticed multiple bleeding wounds? This place is at best neglectful and at worst callous and cruel. Pronged collars are training tools and anyone who handles dogs for a living should know they shouldn’t be left on a dog’s neck for 160 straight hours. Knowing that my dog spent a week here in what was most likely constant pain and irritation while they just ignored it is extremely upsetting. It makes me sick to think how uncomfortable he must have been every day and every night of his stay here. I don’t even have the words to adequately express how angry I am. These people have no business working with animals. If you care about your pets, take them someplace else.

This Kennel had a Kennel Cough epidemic. I have given this place a 5 star in the past. However new staffing and bad employee attitude has taken over this kennel. I have an older dog. The one employee who walks him has pressured and hinted to me in the past that I should euthanize my beloved dog. The other employee with the short and purple hair wrote me an email stating that I should immediately pick up my dog because he had loss of Bladder control. The vet checked him out and cleared him of any issues. These worthless lazy employees develop lies and drama as an excuse to not take care of your animal. He is in good condition but his lack of care here by certain employees has given him diarrhea. Food comes back unfed at times and meds are not given. Any denials here won't work. I know who these worthless, Lazy employees are. I really liked this place until I was starting to get pressure to euthanize my beloved fur child.....

The new owners are great! They interact with their clients, and are quick to address any issues that arise. My three puppies love going and are always well worn out by the end of the day!

I am trying to not come from a place of anger while writing this. My husband and I left our two dogs in the care of this pet resort from July 2nd to July 6th. Upon drop off we were not informed of an upper respiratory infection that had caused them to close their daycare services and weren’t informed until the day after when I called because one of my dogs was sick. When we picked up our dogs on the 6th the first thing we were greeted with was a giant infected sore on our German Shepherds face. The woman who brought them out to us then proceeded to ask if it was there when we dropped off and when we told her no she nonchalantly said oh well she must have rubbed her face on something. Irritated we left, our entire drive home our dogs were heavily panting and as soon as they got in our home the proceed to drink two bowls of water. About an hour after getting them home our lab was hacking and spitting up mucus, we immediately were scared and got a hold of our vet. The next day we were informed it was kennel cough from our vet and that we were the 12th case to come from this resort within the week and that they had informed the kennel of the outbreak before we checked our dogs in. The next day our German Shepherd also began to show signs of kennel cough. I am sitting here writing this review with two sick dogs that I have been up with for the last 4 nights. The resort told us nothing until we called and informed them our dogs were sick and started asking questions. They never called us though having all of our information to tell us our German Shepherd was injured in some way and didn’t notice that it had become infected. The pictures I’m sharing are the day we brought her home and it was already scabbed. They ask us for our vets information and make us sign something stating if something is to happen to our animals that they reserve the right to take them to the vet and we are to cover the bill. Instead of informing and honestly noticing at all this turned into infection and two more cases of kennel cough. I am livid. I will never bring my dogs back. I urge anyone that had their animals there during the time period we had our dogs there to get your animals checked out.

While the facility met basic standards, our experience was disappointing due to poor communication, unwelcoming staff, and a lack of support for nervous/first time dogs. We did not encounter an environment where our dogs felt loved or cared for beyond meeting their basic needs, and we will be seeking alternative options in the future.

I can’t speak to other people’s experiences but I have nothing but positive comments about the Pet Resort. I have been taking my 2 year old mini dachshund since February 2023. Ella attends full day daycare 2-3 times a week. She has boarded several times (including a 5 day stay). If I would let Ella she would jump from her car seat to the ground the minute we stop in the parking lot. As it is I drop her leash and she runs straight to the door. When I switched daycares from Charles City County to Greensprings I was a bit nervous due to a few previous reviews I had read. However, everyone I met in the parking lot had been bringing their pets to daycare/boarding for anywhere from a year to 10 years.Ella has been happy and well cared for since the day I took her for assessment in January. The new owners are present and you can tell that they are pet parents and bought the Resort as a labor of love. They are available to talk with anytime you have concerns. The staff is wonderful! The managers, Lexi and Jessica, are friendly, knowledgeable and care about their pet clients (and owners). Jill is another fantastic front desk employee. I’ve met many of the behind the scenes staff. Again, they are knowledgeable, friendly, know who your pets are and are very concerned with the health and wellbeing of the dogs entrusted to their care.No question is too small for any of the staff.I trust the Pet Resort implicitly and sing its praises to anyone who wants a recommendation for dog daycare and boarding.

As a dog mom of a scared & shy dog, I cannot recommend this place enough! We brought our two dogs for boarding, and we had our own anxiety about boarding one of our dogs in particular, Scout. The staff was absolutely amazing during drop off, when Scout was nervous about going inside. One of the staff members got on the floor to coax her in and to show her that she would be okay. When we picked Scout up a day later, she was a ball of happiness and energy. She LOVED it, and even did zoomies outside the facility. The staff said she was the sweetest dog, and I appreciate them working with her to make her feel safe & loved! This is our first time boarding them here, and now our dogs will ALWAYS be boarded here when we go away.THANK YOU!!!!

I recently moved to the area. I picked this boarding location for my Pomachon due to the great reviews. The process was easy especially with the online platform. I had no issues during the stay and when I picked my dog up, she looked great. The location is nice because it is somewhat remote. The staff was friendly, and they appear to have many happy clients, including me now. I will definitely use this place when I have to go out of town.

I am so incredibly happy that “Greensprings” is well and thriving under its new owners and management! I’m back to getting excited about going out of town because I now have a trusted caregiver for my blind dog which makes traveling so much easier and less stressful. They have remodeled, re-painted, re-designed and generally updated almost every aspect of the place so now I actually get excited to leave my dog. It’s a huge relief!I love that I get to pick up a happy and cute little blind wiggle-butt after being away for two weeks! That speaks volumes to the way they care for him. Thanks Greensprings!Keep up all the good work and all the fun changes! It’s working well for y’all!

GreenSprings always takes good care of our pup! She always comes home happy and exhausted from her playful days there. Friendly staff. Easy to track and book everything online.

Highly recommend this facilty for your fur baby. Easy booking, friendly responsive, and attentive staff. Our 60 lb bully is a social eater and typically comes home a few pounds lighter. This is the only facility our baby has not lost weight after a stay, which tells me she is very well taken care of.

If I could give a 0 star I would. I have used this facility before it changed to new management and it was fine. I suggested my son board his dog while we were out of town. He did because he trusted me. His dog came back with three puncture wounds around his neck from the prong collar. The dog could not have done that to himself without the staff pulling too tightly. Management would take no responsibility for the dried blood and wounds around his neck. It seems this new management may not give the same service you have been use to. We will not board our dog there and I certainly would not suggest anyone else do either.

My dog has been at Pet Resort At Greensprings for kennel, doggie daycare, and grooming. All three experiences were positive. She has some health concerns and they are so gentle with her. Helps to relieve the guilt trips when leaving them when you know they are getting the best care.

Had dog there first time with no issues.Second time made reservation online, because they wouldn’t return my wife’s call when she tried to make a reservation. Found out that our reservation which online said was “reserved” turned out it was waitlisted and we weren’t told that until the day we went to try to drop her off. Don’t like being mislead like. Never had any problems with kennels in Richmond. Kind of glad though could hear signs of kennel cough coming from the back. This business needs to go away.

This is a sad excuse for a kennel and they call themselves a pet resort! I would be very careful if you choose to trust these people with your pet. Awful boarding experiences!! Read the one star reviews and I wouldn’t be too quick to discount them.

Probably the best pet boarding business in the Williamsburg area. New facility. People love the dogs. Very friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Have to say I'm disappointed with the lack of outdoor space considering it is located on a farm. Coming from PA, our regular kennel had about an acre of land for the big dogs to run and chase each other. It is difficult to find the first time. Easy to drive right past the entrance.

Great Pet Resort. Friendly staff and the Lobby looks so much better. Our dog Daisy loves the place and the grooming is fantastic. Prices are the best in town.

The facility isn't as nice or new as the photos. The 'special' room with the TV didn't even have the TV turned on. My dog was obviously left to bark and cry for hours in end, as she completely lost her voice by the time I picked her up. This place has so many good reviews, but I just can't recommend it and wouldn't ever leave my dog there again.

We live in Colorado and had to find a place to board our dogs while we were staying in the Williamsburg area. Setting everything up long distance is never fun, especially when you are going into it sight unseen, but the staff at Pet Resort at Greensprings helped us through the whole process of getting the appropriate records and notes to them. The staff was great and our dogs came back to us bathed and happy after a week. Very nice, clean facilities. Recommend highly.

I can’t say enough good about Pet Resort At Greensprings and their staff. You have to earn our trust before we will let you care for our pups and they have definitely earned our trust. They cared for our four pups and the grand-kitty during our 10 day vacation. We received updates, including texts and a picture, while the crew was there. These updates were not the generic “they’re doing good” updates but detailed updates about our crew, correctly identifying their personalities and quirks. I gave the Pet Resort 5 stars and I would give them 10 if I could.

We were visiting Colonial Williamsburg. We decided to board our dog Jazi so that we could make the most out of our visit. Hotels, while they advertise as dog friendly often charge more than boarding and have strict requirements. Having such a wonderful place to leave her made out trip most enjoyable. We were both happy and the price was more reasonable than what the hotel would have charged me. The Resort is in a beautiful country setting, impeccably clean and very friendly. I highly recommend!

I use the Pet Resort at Greensprings for grooming. I have a medium Goldendoodle who is almost 2 named Tucker. I go in with a picture and description (just so she doesn’t have to constantly try and remember) and he comes out looking like a million bucks. Smells so good too. Prices did just go up and I spend $75 on my Goldendoodle (he is wavy and doesn’t mat. I’m sure it would be more for a tight curled/ standard sized doodle) but that’s unfortunately the case anywhere right now. Wanted to throw that out there though because that’s what most people want to know. But I have recommended Green Springs to a couple people now for grooming and they now go there too so definitely a 5 star for me.
