This is the kind of place you want to keep a secret. It's such a perfect stop on the map. A restaurant & gas station with groceries, gifts, Sasquatch Tee Shirts lots of local goodies just about anything you will need while in the mountains.Stop by and see the Queen of Gravy cooking up the best biscuits and gravy I've ever eaten. Everyone is so friendly it's like being at Grandma's. There's even a mountain view for you while you are pumping gas. Clean bathrooms and you will usually find the boss hanging out at the counter. Tell him how you appreciate Railroad Market! We do!

Lovely mother and daughter team running the restaurant. A ton of baked goods to choose from and all were delicious. We are glad we stopped in for lunch and strawberry cake and an apple caramel cookie!! Thank you! Tried to find you on Instagram for a shout out. I have nothing but the best to say about this place. We ate breakfast here every day of our vacation. The food was amazing, and the service was top notch. We were greeted every morning by Copper a dog who sleeps out in front of the store on the church pews that are out front. The market inside helped us from having to go all the way in to Damascus. We appreciated this place and everyone's smile and care. You won't go wrong eating here. Make sure you get a blueberry lemon cookie, and I loved the Breakfast Burritos! Country boy breakfast was great too!

My first time visiting. I live in a nearby community and needed a small amount of milk for breakfast. Many items do not have prices on shelves or product, one of my pet peeves when shopping. I asked about milk prices. Without leaving the counter, I was given the gallon price, then the half gallon. I was looking at a smaller container, but the clerk clearly was not interested in what I came for. Ive worked in retail management for decades. When customers have to stop and ask, they lose interest in shopping. I will not return, especially for the $3.75/gallon gas! Perhaps the negative rumors are true.

Our first time here & for sure won’t be the last. Great breakfast, friendly folks and absolutely spotless throughout. Very nice store & gas as well. We ride Hwy 58 a lot and will make the next trip include a lunch stop.. maybe ice cream or milkshake too.. Highly recommend. Sarah did an awesome job talking care of us too. 👍

Four of us stopped for lunch while "leaf peeping" in the area. Cafe very busy that day and our server was very friendly and efficient. Two party members had hamburgers and said they were delicious; one of our group had the steak and cheese and it was enormous; she had enough leftover for lunch the next day! I had a hot dog and it was also good. I think we will all four have the steak and cheese next visit!!!!This isn't just a cafe and gas station; there are crafts for sale by a local craftsman; lots of provisions for nearby campers too. The manager said they hope to have a beer license soon. They have also had live entertainment which was a big success.What make the Railroad Cafe & Market a success is the managers and employees. You feel so welcomed and with smiling faces. We will definitely return!

This is my new favorite Mom&Pop diner. If you ever have the chance, stop by. The food is truly spectacular, cheap prices for the quality and quantity, and a snug 50's vibe throughout. I had a bluecheese burger with a fried egg. I still dream about that meal. Of course, I did just get off the trail, so that may sway my judgement a bit, but definitely check this out if you have half a chance.

We got breakfast here and enjoyed it very much! We got the country ham and eggs, biscuits and gravy, and everything was great. I meandered through the store and noticed they carry a variety of provisions, as well as the normal convenience store stuff. Family owned and operated (I asked), friendly staff and good food. We will definitely be going back.

We are excited about this new cafe in our area. Visited and ate at the cafe for the first time today and enjoyed our experience. Our waitress was great and all the staff was very friendly. It was just day three since they had opened everyone was doing a great job. I had a blt but their fried chicken looked amazing. We look forward to returning.

The food was very delicious. I had a classic cheeseburger made from fresh ground beef with a side of homemade potato chips & my husband had the fried chicken sandwich with onion rings. Eveybbite was yummy. The restaurant is clean & looks newly decorated in a 50’s diner vib. The restaurant is hosted by a friendly & attentive staff.We will be back!

I called in a breakfast order about a month ago or so, been debating review. Smokers hanging outside not far from the doors was a bummer. The lady that helped me was nice, very clearly rushing as they were busy and understaffed. The eggs were too greasy, the biscuits tasted like straight flour, the gravy had no flavor except flour taste, but the bacon was good. Not if you don’t like your bacon super crispy tho. I think I will stick to driving all the way to Chilhowie for Hardy’s breakfast for now. The food doesn’t need much to improve, but that small change would make a HUGE difference in the taste. I’m hoping it was just because they are newly open and very busy. But really, the free second hand smoke was a big turn off.

We visited Railroad Market & Cafe today for the first time and will definitely return! Chris and Sarah, along with family and friends, have given a gem to the White Top community, the Christmas tree growers/workers, and visitors traveling in and around VA, NC & TN. The food is down home country good, and the employees are warm, inviting, and encourage everyone to try EVERYTHING! We are proud of this Market, and we are thrilled to add it to our “Sunday drive” stop-in and stay awhile routine.SFW
