This is a great place to visit for an afternoon, or for an event! We actually had our wedding here in October, 2023. After touring many of the local wineries/venues, 8 Chains North was just right for us. The panoramic views provide a gorgeous backdrop, the space was the right for our medium sized wedding, the staff is amazing and so is the wine. Definitely check this place out if you're planning a wedding in Northern VA.

My family came here and everyone really enjoyed it. The view is beautiful, everyone had a wine to enjoy, and we really appreciated that they included a couple beers so that my husband had something. The dog park is an extra bonus.

Stopped by with our dog, and enjoyed the nice (enclosed) doggy play yard. Had adequate shade and seating, as well as a hose to fill your water bowls. All told, it was a nice place to have a glass of wine and enjoy the view.There was plenty of indoor seating (also dog friendly, but our pup was more interested in sitting outside) and the space seemed comfortable.Wine was pretty good for the area. Would have been nice if there was also a “frozé” option as it was a bit warm out.

This winery has some nice views of the hills and vines. The building itself is rather small and seating overall is limited. The vibe with live music was good and the staff friendly. The wine tasting was decent. I didn't much care for the wines but I did enjoy the chocolate flight I had as well. Overall, the wine wasn't to my liking so I wouldn't go back. There's just too many options in this region of VA to pay this spot a second visit any time soon.

8 Chains North Winery was the best wedding venue I could have ever asked for. Elly, the events coordinator, was my savior the day of the wedding. She helped make the day about Matt and I, and that was so amazing of her to do. It also didn't hurt that she was always on wine duty :)We had the max amount of guests at the venue, and it was still so spacious and comfortable. If you are debating on going with 8 Chains, I'd definitely recommend it.If you're not getting married, they have an amazing winery and tasting area to enjoy!!

Had a lovely time at this establishment. The people who worked there were very helpful. They came around to check on our group frequently, but it definitely wasn't overkill. The view was gorgeous. They have food here but you're allowed to bring your own as well. I would definitely return.

Very good wine in a great location. Wine is very personal; my favorite was Tempranillo. The best thing we also enjoyed was the personal interaction with wonderful owners. A must stop on your wine journey through Loudoun County VA

This Saturday we had visitors they used to live up here so they came up for apple picking and I set up to go winetasting even though I’ve met the owner where are used to work. i’m not gonna say I am a wine expert but a couple we hang with R and we’re going to take them up there too but the couple that was here for the weekend for apple picking I took the lady and we left the daughter in the car becouse she was tired.We love their presentation and love the look of the place inside and out. I’m going to drag a bunch of people every time I go up there and I get a five star rating and if you don’t go, you’re missing out on a good time.Staff was incredible.I will definitely be a regular when I get a little time off and my wife enjoy her self.Jorge Ayan.

My husband and I had our wedding here back in November. The whole experience with Elly was great! She’s so organized and accommodating. On the day of our wedding I really felt like Elly and her staff were watching out for our best interest. (Actually, they were. They helped prevent potential drama from occurring before I even knew about it) and I am forever grateful. The venue itself is so beautiful! I would definitely host an event with them again!

I chose 8 Chains as my wedding venue, and I am so happy I did. We looked at many different venues and this one immediately felt "right". One of the main reasons, other than the beautiful setting, was Elly, their director of private events. She made the whole process very easy, was always available for questions/concerns, and did more than I would have ever expected, especially on the day of the wedding, and throughout the evening. Elly is simply the best! The winery is continuing to make improvements to the vineyard, and the grounds for guests to visit and enjoy wonderful wine. I would recommend a visit, especially if you are looking for a place to host a wedding or other type of celebration.

We held a catered prewedding party at 8 Chains North with over 100 guests. The winery gave us private access after 5 pm on a Saturday evening to their indoor Rose Compass room, the covered patio out back and a large lawn area with Adirondack Chairs.The view of the vineyards and hills from these areas was sublime and the 8 Chains staff went above and beyond to make it easy on the hosts and hold a perfect party. They spent time with us beforehand planning all the details and everything went perfectly. There was plenty of parking, they worked with our caterer on setup, allowed us to play our own music after the live music was over, and made our guests feel at home.Honestly, the only problem we had was getting our guests to leave when the party was over. This is a beautiful, well-run venue and we highly recommend them for your next function.

Location was nice; our party indicated they enjoyed the wines. Food options were good. Only issue is the insane amount of fruit flies in the building. I know the staff told us that its just what happens during harvest season and there was nothing they could do - but I disagree. The ceiling fans could have been turned on low to create a light breeze which would likely push the critters away from food and drinks. When I tell you there were massive amounts of dead fruit flies in any wine glasses that sat on our table for a few minutes - I would not be lying to you. Also they were all over our food platters. It's really not appetizing folks. If you are able to eat and drink outside during "fruit fly season", you'll be better off. Better yet, just go visit before or after harvest season and I'm sure you'll probably have a 4 or 5 star experience.

Excellent smaller winery in Northern Virginia. Beautiful setting and wonderful ambiance and atmosphere with very relaxing decor, seating and views. Our hostess Emily was excellent in describing the wines, 8 Chains process and history. They have a very nice selection of both red and whites. Highly recommend a visit!

This was our first vist to the winery and we’re looking forward to returning! A cozy spot in Waterford with wine and music we enjoyed! We started with a tasting of several whites and reds and enjoyed them all. We settled on a sparkling white and one of their reds. Seating inside on the main level is limited, but there is an upstairs as well as the outside. Nice views and a good place to bring a dog if you are so inclined. More reasonable prices than some other wineries we’ve been too as well.

The staff is helpful and friendly! The wine is always delicious! They have a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside yesterday. It was really windy and pretty chilly but they have heaters and we still had a great time.

Wine, venue, and overall ambiance were great, but the staff was absolutely blow you away fantastic! I searched the web for hours trying to find a winery with outdoor seating for my parents' 40th anniversary party that allowed babies, dogs, outside food, and decorations, and I feel so lucky to have found this incredible hidden gem! Staff was so accommodating, kind, and chill about everything, taking so much stress off of me. There was no reservation fee or table fee, and there was no time limit for the table! They made it a spectacular--and affordable--experience for a recent college grad hoping to celebrate her folks right! Thank you, 8 Chains Winery!!

This is a good example of a family run business. They work very hard to get things done there, they have approximately 10 wines although none of them are of the sweet variety that I favor the most. A tasting is $12 and to test a flight of wines is $16, but either money would be well spent. Cissi and Ed (the owners) are polite and knowledgeable and you really feel welcome when you're there. Good place to bring your money. Open 12:00 to 6:00 Monday through Friday and I think the same on Saturday.. yes, you can get hats and shirts if the mood strikes you. I like their black hat with the orange logo myself. They are also about to join the HARVEST HOST FAMILY!!

The tasting room welcomes you and has always been a relaxing environment. Granted, dogs are allowed, but dog owners often mind their dogs if they act up a bit. The wine is wonderful and hasn't disappointed me once. The staff are very accommodating and the views from the back patio are very calming. Inside, during the winter, there is a full on fire place which confirms the relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend at least a visit, but I'm fairly confident you'll want to come back.

I wanted to do something special for my wife's birthday, so I started looking into what I might be able to arrange at a local vineyard. I came across 8 Chain's picnic option, and it turned out far beyond my expectations. My wife and I joked that some people have to travel by air and spend thousands of dollars to have the experience we had with just an 11-minute drive from our house! I worked with Elly Sullivan to plan it, their director of private events, and she was incredible -- friendly, communicative, etc. I am a major planner, so I started to get concerned when the weather started looking rainy for our picnic, but Elly already had Plan B and Plan C lined up just in case -- we ended up having a wonderful picnic (under the pop up tent Elly put up for us just in case) right among the vines -- it was a truly special experience. You of course can't write a review about a winery without talking about the wine, so I'll say this -- every wine we sampled was wonderful, which made for a difficult decision as to which bottle to choose for our picnic -- we ended up going with their Grenache, and it did not disappoint -- in fact, we went home with a few bottles of another one of their wines that contains Grenache that was equally delicious (GSM). In addition to Elly, everybody we met at the vineyard was extremely friendly and genuinely interested in our enjoyment of the picnic. I would highly recommend this winery to anybody looking for a beautiful, friendly, and delicious experience in Loudoun wine country. Thank you 8 Chains!

It's with a heavy heart that I write this review, My family has been a member of 8 Chains since it's conception while Ben was an apprentice at another winery. We followed Ben to his new winery and loved it for 12 wonderful years, bringing family and friends, even hosting an event for the Minnesota State Society. We hosted the very first Mom's Apple Pie event, which continues to this day. Sadly we said our goodbyes today. The newly promoted manager has repeatedly been nasty, rude, and condescending to our family over the last 9 months. He made us feel like we are no longer the target audience (have 2 children in elementary school) and with him in charge and as the representative of the owner, would rather see us leave than address our concerns. The white wines this year have also changed dramatically. This could easily be a situation of the new owners tastes compared to ours, but we followed Ben for his original Loco Vino and the 2022 Rose and Loco didn't compare to last years. The change in pallet in addition to the pure nastiness of the newly promoted manager (who’s behavior the new owners may have been unaware of until after this review was published) is making us say goodbye to a place we would visit monthly.
