My wife and I had dinner here but did not stay at the inn. The only special event we were celebrating was a night away from the kids. Since we got here an hour before our reservation, we had drinks in a parlor area and it looked like a salon where afternoon tea was still going on. It was pretty nice and the cocktails were very tasty. Service was excellent. We were notified that our table was ready and escorted to our relatively private section. The food was excellent and the wine pairings were superb. Service was impeccable. It was a perfect mix of being attentive and leaving us alone to enjoy our food and drink. My favorite dish was the swordfish carpaccio and my wife enjoyed the lobster in baby cabbage. It was a memorable evening. Was it worth 1500 bucks? Eh. Am I glad that I tried it? Yes. My wife also really enjoyed the experience. This is definitely a place for really special occasions.

As many here have said, the most expensive yet most exquisite meal I have ever had. The food and drink were impeccable and paired wonderfully. It was one thing to be blown away by the presentation, taste, and texture of the food, but to have learned something new after each course was simply on another level. The thoughtfulness that went into every dish and its corresponding drink pairing was beyond anything I've ever experienced, and the staff was more than happy to answer any question we could conjure up. On that note, the service was impeccable and we were never left wanting. Perhaps the greatest aspect of the experience was the way you are mentally whisked away to another time and place and away from your worries in life from the moment you are greeted by the valet - a complimentary service, of course. I think above all, that's what we crave in any experience to include dining, and The Inn at Little Washington delivers a sense of wonder and euphoria that is hard to find in adult life. If you have the means, this restaurant lives up to its Michelin 3 Star rating - worth a special journey.

The food was a combination of a work of art and a performance - exquisite! The service was impeccable - as soon as you finished with a plate or piece of silverware, it was whisked away. The hotel itself was interior design masquerading as a museum of drawings, painting, furniture, and collectibles!Rooms: Comfortable and appointed with every detail imaginableWalkability: Wonderfully quaint neighborhood in small town VirginiaFood & drinks: World renowned cuisine

Most expensive meal I’ve ever had, but also one of the most delicious. Perfect for a special occasion. The wine pairing was nice, but not my favorite. Colby, the person serving the wine, was also one of my favorite parts about the whole evening though, so there’s also that! I wish I had taken photos.

This review is for the inn, not the restaurant. My wife and I had an amazing long weekend at the Inn at Little Washington. It has a magical feel that's difficult to articulate. It's almost like being on a movie set. The views are incredible, the people kind, and the food delicious. We particularly loved the cottage we stayed in. It was incredibly cozy yet spacious. I can safely say it's one of the best, if not the best, five-star inn I've been to. People should know ahead of time that little washington is tiny. As a result, the inn itself is a place to go and relax, enjoy nature, read, drink, and eat great food. It's not a bustling area with all sorts of activities throughout the day. To me, that's what makes it such a great escape. There are small towns and wineries nearby for those who wish to leave the inn and explore. But the inn is so incredible, you'll probably just want to stay!

I have never heard or dined at this restaurant. However I read a Q&A from the food critic of the Washington Post. A subscribe indicated he was charged $900 in advance for a diner reservation for 2 that he made 2 months in advance. Not too long after the reservation he canceled but was still charged the full $900 for the dinner. I find this to be outrageous. I can understand a cancelation fee for the dinner and to charge for the dinner if the cancellation is made less than 24 hours before the reservation but for me, charging for the full dinner with for a timely cancellation is not acceptable. That said since it is a private business, they have a right to do so, assuming the restaurant not required to post cancelation policies by law and or that he did not notice it. However for me it demonstrates predatory greed. If it were me, I would be filling a chargeback request with the credit card company and posting a complaint with the BBB. I would also be investigating if it was legal for them to do so, and if not I would be filing a complaint with the state and suing them in small claims court, inviting the local TV and newspapers to send a reporter to monitor the hearing. That said it will be a cold day in hell should I ever consider dining at this establishment.

The attention to every minute detail is what made my stay so magical. The experience from check-in, to room decor, to dinner, to the beautiful grounds....everything was impeccable. I very much enjoyed my stay with my husband thanks to the attentiveness of the staff. Loved it and can't wait to visit again soonNoteworthy details: Impeccable service. The attention to detail is impressive

What can possibly be said about this place? Only 90 minutes from DC in what feels like a storybook town. The Inns decor transports you to England (think downtown abbeyesque), the inn has a very warm feeling both literally and figuratively. The staff are so welcoming and sweet. We stayed in room 6, the Johnny Apple room and it was magnificent! It used to be 2 rooms and is now a suite. This room comes with 2 full bathrooms and an amazing arch door. We had the opportunity to have to attend tea time, dinner and, breakfast. Tea time was delicious and the tea selection was vast. Dinner was a set menu and you have the option of vegetarian and meat, we chose one of each. Each dish was delicious and thoughtfully prepared for your palette transition (see pics). We selected dessert and the cheese selection from Farah the cow, fantastic! We also had breakfast in the morning, it was a basket of muffins, croissants and bread, a flight of juices and, a selection of jams, we also ordered the blueberry lemon ricotta silver dollar pancakes and they were AMAZING! Overall I highly recommend you go.

Dining at The Little Inn at Washington was an extraordinary experience, one that was so remarkable, I almost struggled to put it into words. Even though the menu may have changed since our visit in Nov 2020, I feel compelled to share the wonderful memories from our meal. This visit, especially compared to other Michelin-starred experiences at places like Nakazawa, Jean-Georges, and Ai Fiori, was truly special. The dish that has etched itself in my memory was the appetizer, a Foie Gras soup. The name of the dish escapes me now, but the flavor was unforgettable. It elevated our entire dining experience, setting an incredibly high standard right from the start.Another standout was the can of tuna. Initially, its simple appearance in such a refined setting was surprising, but the taste was a revelation. It went beyond any preconceived notions, proving that sometimes, the simplest things can be the most extraordinary. This dish, along with the Foie Gras soup, marked high points in a meal where each course was exceptional in its own right. The meal concluded with a dessert featuring a delightful blend of dark chocolate and orange peels. It was the perfect end to our culinary journey, with a wonderful balance of rich and zesty flavors. The Little Inn at Washington not only met but exceeded our expectations, making it a standout experience among many notable dining adventures.

We came here a year ago and still tell all of our friends what a joke this experience was. We reached out 4 times to management about how bad our food was with no response. My husband and I by far were the youngest in the room. If they care about the new generation coming in, they’re going to need to pretend to care a bit more about the experience they provide. The food was cold. Each course was so tiny. We were starving once we left. Crumbs on the table and pillows fell on the floor from our booth. No one ever picked it up. We also heard a waiter next to us offer the couple dining other amenities we were told weren’t available. The staff look afraid for their lives and won’t talk to you much beyond acting like servants. Worst dining experience in the DMV.

My wife and I were in DC for a business trip and drove over to The Inn for dinner. Totally ... worth it. A lovely experience in every way. I could expound at length, but I think the attached picture pretty much sums up how memorable the evening was to us.Our Christmas tree contains a homemade ornament that I crafted to honor the night and specifically the hilarious king of both cheese knowledge and cheese-based puns, Cameron the Cheese Whiz.Seriously, whatever you do, DON'T skip the cheese course. It's that cool.

I probably won’t add much value from other reviewers, but this is, really, the best dining experience I’ve ever had. The food, service, and attention to detail are something I had never experienced before. Each course is perfectly timed and all the staff make you feel they are there for you alone. As the perfect finale, the cheese presentation by the gracious Maitre du Fromage left us with a smile. Definitely worth every penny (particularly considering prices you pay in DC for 1/2 star Michelin restaurants that cannot compare).

This was an amazing experience. I've never experienced service like this. The room was gorgeous. The grounds were lovely. Dinner was exquisite. The staff was amazing. Cocktails were the best I've ever had. You definitely pay a price for all this. For a very special occasion, going to the Inn at Little Washington cannot be beat. The tiny town is quaint and fun to walk around. I'd love to stay longer and do day trips and nearby activities but maybe after I hit the lotto!

Simply magical. 10/10 dining, service, decor. Having been to Michelin rated restaurants around the world, this was a true 3 star Michelin experience. We left enamored and inspired. Thank you, Chef!

The restaurant was very nice! Complimentary valet service was a great perk. There seems to be a little bit of parking here and there or on the side of the road, but it was pretty confusing where you could park legally. From the valet to sitting to leaving the table, it was nothing but wonderful smiles and gracious people. Everyone was super polite and most helpful. The restaurant being a 3 Michelin star restaurant that it is, I was expecting a few small details I kept an eye out for. It was raining when we arrived so I was expecting ushers with umbrellas which did happen. Also, I was expecting crumbs to be brushed of the table here and there, and they were. I only watched out for this one because a few reviews noted that it did not happen. Our maître d'hôtel, waiters and waitresses kept on point the entire night. They were funny, polite and always attentive. My wife got up from the table and soon after someone came buy to fold her napkin neatly and placed it on the table, so as for everything to look neat and orderly at all times. Small detail I know. Our dinner was seven courses! Of course they are small but its about quality, not a #1 combo meal or a 8 oz. sirloin from a steak house. Not to go into details but each of our courses impressed more and more. I don't think I've had a better "Szechuan Pepper-Crusted Venison Tenderloin with Caramelized Endive, Salsify and Lingonberries" or "A Chartreuse of Savoy Cabbage and Maine Lobster with Caviar Beurre Blanc", in my life. The wine pairings was a bit of a splurge, but when in Rome!Nothing bad to say about The Inn at Little Washington restaurant. It isn't just about great food and fine dining. It was about the whole experience for us. Dressing up, going out to dinner and enjoying a level of service and quality of food that has to date not been matched. Disclaimer: This is my first time dining at a Michelin star restaurant. We've set our standards high by making my first experience of a Michelin star restaurant a 3 star restaurant and an excellent one.

We had an amazing experience. We ate dinner at the restaurant and stayed the night in the hotel. Everything (the room, the grounds, the staff, and the restaurant) was spectacular. Can’t say enough good things about the meal. It was probably the best we’ve ever had. And to top it off, we got engaged there! A truly wonderful experience that we’ll remember forever! This place exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like VIPs, and the food was out of this world. The attention to detail is incredible and we were treated to so many thoughtful touches during our stay, and the staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy, we felt like we were at home. The food was an experience itself. Each dish was a work of art, both visually and gastronomically. We had a hard time choosing our favorites because everything was so delicious. The atmosphere is one of quiet sophistication, with classic decor that makes you feel like you're stepping back in time. Every detail is carefully considered, and it all comes together to create a feeling of luxury and relaxation. In short, the Inn at Little Washington is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. The combination of excellent food, superb service, and a beautiful, classic atmosphere make it an experience we won't soon forget.

Review for the restaurant: it was a magical night for us! The setting in the enclosed garden was so romantic and the interaction and attention from the staff was so warm and lovely. They were accommodating of our dietary restrictions (Pescetarian letting us mix and match from the two fixed menus). Every dish was delicious! & cocktail! We absolutely loved everything our waiter recommended the vodka not too sweet passion fruit coconut lime cocktail, lobster dish, and the cheese dessert experience! Will definitely be recommending to friends and family for super special occasions and be back ourselves!

Save yourself the trip and the money. My girlfriend and I saved up for a nice birthday dinner on a Saturday evening, excitedly snagging a reservation at this 3 Michelin Starred restaurant. We’ve been to several 1- and 2-Star places so we were excited to try The Inn at Little Washington, the only 3-star restaurant near us. I’ve been thoroughly impressed at the higher end restaurants we had dined at in the past; perhaps it was foolish to expect the same level of service and food or even good service and food at a higher rated restaurant. The restaurant asks that you pay at time of reservation along with giving you the option of ordered the cheese course ahead of time, which I happily did. Upon seating, we were spieled the menu as normal where the cheese course was highlighted and we were asked if either of us wanted the cheese course. Having already ordered it, I was confused but went along and said yes. We denied the wine pairings (much to the confusion of our sever) and our menus were taken. Our first course arrived a little while later and our server finally reappeared and asked if we wanted anything to drink, apologizing for not providing us with a cocktail menu/wine list. At this time, we were half way though our first course about 25 minutes after we were seated. We ordered drinks, which arrived during our second course around 40 minutes after sitting down. I’m not thrilled to wait 40 minutes for a drink at any restaurant, let alone one held in such high esteem. The whole night was filled with bizarre pacing in that vein, huge gulfs of time stretched between courses and refills, so much so that over the course of a 3-hour meal I only was able to order two cocktails. (The restaurant was largely empty, adding to our frustration). Crumbs were left on the table during courses, the table nearest to us inexplicably had their only wine glass taken away leaving them without a drink for a significant period, silverware was dropped, and my little monogrammed “happy birthday” chocolate was placed upside down in front of me. Small details, but this is a 3 Michelin Starred restaurant. The night was a constant series of miscues, mistakes, and disappointments. We ended the evening with servers stripping the tables near us in preparation of the next day, a strong hint that they wanted us to leave. It’s not my fault that the meal took so long. I would have happily left earlier. The food was not the saving grace of the evening. When it did arrive, it was underwhelming. The tasting menu is small, lacking in creativity, and dull. The only dishes worth writing home about were the duck and lamb which were good but not extraordinary. In short: We spent ~$1,300 to be disappointed on every level. The Inn at Little Washington is a waste of your time and money. I didn’t find this place worth 1 star. If you want to have a good evening, take your money to Olive Garden instead.

What a stunning evening at the Inn capturing the intimate wedding of Ashleigh & Andrew. As a wedding photographer with my company Benson Park Photography, I work with so many different venues and I just have to share how thankful I am to have been able to shoot at the Inn this weekend. Every little detail of this property has been designed perfectly. The Inn staff were amazing. From the ceremony to cocktail hour to their reception, everything ran like clockwork. Lisa, their director of events and her team were incredible to work with. Having worked at the inn in 2010, and now being back in the area working in this creative capacity, I am just so impressed with the growth and design the Inn has continued to display year after year. Enjoy a look at some of their photos showcasing the property.Walkability: The town is great and walkable. Patty-Os is a great medium priced establishment compared to the Inn. The grounds of the property will keep you in awe. Tons of local hikes and trails nearby that you would need transportation to get to.

This was our 2nd stay at The Claiborne House. It was amazing as usual. We were able to have Cameron "The Cheese Whiz" come to the house with a tea experience that we enjoyed immensely. The food was wonderful as usual and the atmosphere was breathtaking. We are hooked on this place.Rooms: Absolutely beautiful.Nearby activities: Can go to numerous local wineries and shops.Walkability: Everything is within walking distance of the hotel

Sadly, our dining experience was a considerable disappointment. Compared to other Michelin starred restaurants, this one is definitely overpriced to the point of regret. The Confederate flags dotting the roadway on the drive in made us feel like we had contributed our funds to maintaining this kind of local population and lifestyle. The service was okay. At times, it seemed rehearsed with a tackiness that lacked sincerity. The seating was cramped and provided absolutely no privacy between tables or other guests desiring to have a private conversation. The rolling cow cheese tray complete with separate “mooing” sound effect which was hand operated by the server seemed like an out of place gimmick that amused some, but fell flat with us. The food was great, but honestly not worth the price gouge. I really miss Michel Richard. The ambiance was too whimsical and casual for our expectation. It took away from setting we were looking for, the mood and our celebration. We were expecting a more formal, reserved and romantic setting. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment because we had such high hopes. This is definitely not the place for couples desiring an intimate environment with impeccable service and an outstanding gastronomic experience.
