We enjoyed our lunch at Patty O’s Cafe. We especially enjoyed the Big Eye Tuna Tartar appetizer and the Shrimp and Grits. The desserts are delicious. The famous butter pecan ice cream is famous for a reason and the key lime pie with citrus caviar is very elegant. This is a lovely experience for the money and we plan to return. We enjoyed looking at the gardens and animals after a full meal. We had our little dog with us so we ate on the patio. Next time we’ll visit before heading out to the wineries.

The food is amazing. We enjoyed every dish we were served from the pimento cheese to the salad to the scallops, that were cooked to perfection, and finally the ice cream. Everything was delicious. The bakery side had one of the best croissants I've had, and I've had french ones in Paris!!! Patty O's delivers!

We had a wonderful lunch at Patty O's Cafe on a late summer day. This was our first visit. The outside drew us into the cafe, the atmosphere was amazing, the furnishings were in the time period of the town, and the food was delicious. The ice tea was served with simple syrup to enable the customer to sweeten the tea to their liking. The bread is baked right on site, with the customer able to purchase additional loaves from the attached bakery. The sour dough was delicious, very much like San Francisco sour dough. The cinnamon bread was delicious, too. We had the pulled pork, which my husband said was sweet and smooth and a generous portion, and the curry chicken salad, which was very good too. The french fries were cooked perfectly, and the seasoning on the fries was very tasty. The bathroom was very clean and smelled good. The tables were a bit close together but that is the only complaint. There is also outside seating in the patio, which many people were taking advantage of.

First of all...I was charged $11 "service fee" on a $22.50 bill..which is outrageous..we waited almost an hour for our food , and they forgot the soup. Bees were everywhere and very annoying. The food and bread and pimento cheese were very good( I got the curry chicken salad) but would have loved to have enjoyed the soup. To be fair, they did give us ONE soup with our leftover sandwiches, which was compted, but, we were 2 co-workers, not a couple so we will have to fight over who gets it..lol..just a suggestion to the owner/manager...when you automatically give tips to servers, they don't have to work for the tip. Pay your servers a decent wage and please do not put the burden on the consumer to make up the difference. I tip generously when I receive excellent service....in this case I feel robbed. So, for a sandwich, water , and a split app, I paid close to $40...

I’m surprised to see a lack of stars. We randomly came in for dinner on a Tuesday night, and we were left stunned. My wife and I do a date night on Tuesdays, usually just something low key, but she said she heard of the place and being new to the area, from the DC area, we aren’t familiar with everything out here we decided to try it, in our comfortable hoodie and sneaker dress. The food was fantastic, some of the best I’ve ever had. Better then the places we’ve been to like restaurant Eve in old town Alexandria or citizen in dc.Having dined at several Michelin star restaurants, this one beat out most all of the one star and two star Michelin restaurants I’ve been to.Loved it and we’ll be back. Our server Kim was very attentive and made sure we were able to get everything we ordered with no complications

If Patty O's were an hour away in the DC area, it would be impossible to get a table. This is a casual restaurant serving dishes designed by a Michelin 3 Star chef, at prices that aren't meaningfully higher than many of the lifeless chain restaurants in the DC suburbs.Lunch and dinner prices are similar, which makes dinner the better value, but both menus are excellent.Nothing on the menu is an afterthought. Every dish, every sandwich, every salad, every dessert, is the chefs interpretation of the superlative version of that dish, whether it's a Greek salad or a corned beef Reuben. And I dare you to find (or make) a better burgerDesserts are off the charts. The key lime pie with its hazelnut crust may be the best I've ever had. And it's very rich -- certainly enough for two.I'm not afraid of aggressive seasoning, but it IS a slight issue with some of the dishes. The Champignon Bourguinon, the French onion soup, and the pommes frites have all been a wee bit heavy on the salt. And the excellent Greek salad was a little overdressed.Nitpicks aside, Patty O's is a gem.Dietary restrictions: Patty O's will bend over backwards to accommodate any dietary restrictions. Just let them know.

We went to Patty O’s for lunch and then dinner the next day! For lunch we ordered the Tuna Tartare for starter and half pound beef burger . They were both outstanding . The next day we ordered the Fried chicken basket which came with cornbread, potato salad and biscuit. It was delicious! The service is outstanding which is is very rare these days! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Want to give it 3. 5 stars.Came here twice. Early evening on a Friday, and brunch on Sunday.Biggest issue is that something is just off with the service, which was very surprising. Both visits it took forever for someone to come to the table and take a drink order. Got to be painfully long. The place is beautiful, even more so compared to *anywhere* in the area. Inside and outside are lovely. No notes.Cocktails were great - overall the best part besides from the design.Dinner menu was solid, nothing we had was particularly special, but solid.Brunch was odd. First, same bad service - took at least 10 minutes to be able to order a drinkThe live bluegrass is great, maybe sometimes a bit too loud, but loved it overall. The food wasn't great though. They should make clear their French Toast is not standard - I'm assuming it was a brioche, but it came off as bread pudding in terms of texture - but most importantly, just not very good.Literally one vegetarian savory option (avocado bread) and it was very disappointing. Honestly just a vegetarian quiche would have made a huge difference. I'm not even a vegetarian, and normally don't even care, but the genuinely just felt imbalance.Shrimp and grits was perfectly fine.Bacon was the star, in my opinion (but they could drain off some grease from the dish). Was difficult to order a second drink as well, had to flag someone down, then follow up maybe 7 minutes later (it was a mimosa), and as soon as I did the drink was clearly already prepared and just sitting there.I love the Inn, one of my favorite places in the world. I've stayed there many times and will again, I think the main restaurant is world class, I am biased in their favor. I get it is going for a different vibe and the food is always objective, but nobody can have the service I had and think it is up to a reasonable standard given it is connected to the Inn (it was poor by any standard).I took some friends here for brunch thinking it would be quite impressive, but overall it was a disappointing for the entire group. Hopefully it's just growing pains and the next time I go it will have improved. Still find it hard to believe, so I'll give it th4 benefit of the doubt based on my love for the Inn.Vegetarian options: Very poor selection at brunch.

After having a disappointing meal last night at a so called “high end” restaurant, Patty O’s was a delight! The atmosphere is like an old French eatery. The cracking of the fireplace was soothing. I had the fried chicken basket. It was THE crustiest, crunchiest chicken I have ever had. Lol. Personally, I don’t like my chicken too crusty, but this was seasoned so well that I left half the crust on the plate and still enjoyed dipping it in the horseradish sauce and eating sweet pickles. Don’t get me wrong, it was perfectly crusty/crunchy. The potato salad surprised me. It had no color at all so I thought……Well shut my mouth! It was perfect! The cornbread and biscuit (they only serve one each) was perfect! However, they were not served warm (mistake). I was only able to eat one piece of chicken and had to take the rest home. The website advertised a half chicken. You only get 3 pieces, which was plenty. Pricey for a fried chicken dinner? Yes. But I would do it all over again. I took the Lemon tart to go. It was hands down THE BEST Lemon tart I have ever eaten. Wish I had gotten a second. I also got the chocolate pecan bourbon pie, which I’ll eat for breakfast. Feeling happy. The Inn is next!

We found this cafe to be spectacular.Yes, it’s pricey but you get an incredible spread given where you are in Virginia. We loved it all and strongly recommend it if you’re in the area.Bread here is probably the best in the area and so is the coffee/pastries

Had been wanting to try Patty O’s since they opened, and finally made a trip last week for dinner. Overall, I was disappointed by the experience. The ambiance was nice. The food and drinks were well executed, if slightly on the smaller side for the food portions. Not a huge deal. The service, however, left much to be desired. Our server was clearly trying, but it was obvious that she did not possesses the experience or ability to manage her section. Our drinks did not arrive until after we had finished with our appetizer. We ordered coffee and dessert together. I asked for a latte, but was told it would take a long time because the espresso machine was located in the bakery, and the bakery was closed. The bakery and the restaurant are connected by a hallway and i could see the espresso machine from my table. So I am unsure what the issue was, but I didn’t care to find out and ordered a regular coffee. It didn’t arrive until well after we had finished dessert.Several tables nearby also seemed to experience delays or issues of various types, and the table next to us spoke with the manager several times. The bar clearly had an issue that needs to be addressed as long wait times for drinks seemed to be a common theme. We did not feel the need to pile on the server who was clearly struggling. Our meal came to a somewhat comical end when we were presented with the bill and told that the service charge was included, even though we were a party of 2. This is a non-standard practice and it is not made sufficiently clear on the physical menu nor on the website. I don’t have a problem with it in theory, but if you are going to automatically charge people for service, your service better be on point.I honestly expected better from a Patrick O’Connell establishment and i’ll certainly think twice before I ever spend the substantial sum to eat at the Inn. I won’t be back to Patty O’s anytime soon.

I mean….”French toast” is a mediocre tasting bread pudding. Shrimp and grit were ok. But there were literally 5 small shrimp, 1/4 cups of grits, and maybe 10 very small chunks of ham. Maybe 10 bites in the whole $25 mediocre meal. Bloody Mary had way too much horseradish. The service was mediocre at best. Really odd that this is what people are raving about.

Had intended to stop at Headmaster's Pub for lunch only to find it closed. Staff there recommended Patty O's and that was great advise. Very upscale (and pricey) but a great dining experience. Food- superb. Service - superb. Atmosphere- superb. Parking was easy and the bathroom spotless. Honestly, the onion soup perfumed with Calvados was salty to my taste. But offering chilled simple syrup to sweeten my tea was over the top. Tip is included in the bill. Our server Alex was excellent. Yeah. I'll go back. But even with the large outdoor seating area, this place will fill up fast when word gets out.

Lovely restaurant with delicious lunch options from salads to sandwiches. The decor os very detail oriented and the service is on point. It succeed out expectations. The bakery has a different entrance in the right side. The pastries, and bread, specially the brioche were excellent. A great addition to the dinning options in Little Washington and in the way to Shenandoah.

I visited here for a couple of times during the lunch. The cafe space is connected with Patty O's bakery in a little historical town called Washington. There is a nice open patio in front of the building; you get to see all the historical buildings around, including the Inn at Little Washington. Although the patio is facing the main street of the town, traffic is very mild, so it should not bother you. The indoor is also nice, and I personally liked the seating that I got to see the classy and not-large-but-effective bar. I would recommend either indoor or outdoor depending on the weather and how busy it is.I enjoyed trying various starter menus to keep it light lunch for us. My favorite was Tuna Tartare, which is layered with mango and avocado, with yuzu sorbet, especially on a warm summer day. Its sauce put mango with slightly firmer texture, together with tuna and avocado.Everyone was professional, yet friendly, and their service was comfortably light, which we loved because we got to keep our privacy; Unlike some other places with too many visits, and sometimes too many recommendations for upsells. The price was also very friendly considered the restaurant is also ran by Patrick O'Connell from the Inn. Additionally, I really loved how they put the service fee into my bill, so they ran my card without needing me to sign. I didn't have to use my brain thinking if I needed to add more tip or calculate. The great addition to the cafe is its surrounding as I mentioned earlier. After the dinner, you could take a little walk around the farm behind the Tavern Shop across the street. There, you may get to see some goats, chickens, and llamas, and its garden is beautifully taken care of.

Really nice service, eyegasmic bakery treats, but unfortunately, much like Little Inn at Washington (which is one of the most overrated Michelin restaurants I have ever been to out of 135 total), is overpriced and seemingly unable to hit peak flavors. The lemon and pistachio tart looks like a work of art, but the lemon wasn't, well, tart enough. The carrot cake was also gorgeous to look at but the texture was strangely sponge-y and not sweet enough. The bourbon chocolate pecan tart is good but tiny, about 1/3 the size of the carrot cake slice for some reason (they should really align these). And the chocolate caramel disk was even tinier than the tart, and just not worth the price.I've always had the impression that the restaurant (from experience) and inn are way overpriced money making machines that somewhat have a Disneyland gimmicky vibe (as opposed to small town authenticity), and Patty O's unfortunately follows in those footsteps.

Longtime devotees of Chef Patrick O'Connell's magical "fantality," an early Sunday lunch was our first escape to the new Patty O's Café & Bakery, where the aura of Gallic Belle Époque convenes with a reimagination of a joie de vivre earlier America. It's a peaceful, bucolic drive to the foothills of the coddling Blue Ridge Mountains bordering the historic town of Washington, Virginia, fondly known as Little Washington. Patty O's is a magnificent transformation across Main Street at Krebser Square and complementary to its globally lauded related sanctuary, The Inn at Little Washington, engendering cherished memories of the palate for over forty years.Cheering Krebser Square is a sidewalk patio filled with umbrellaed tables as alluring as the fresh mountain air. Beneath the trellis arch, as we entered the door, our gaze was drawn past the petite gorgeous, burled wood reception station to the vibrant, whimsical mural of a barn dance by William Woodward, which could also be an utmost engaging Instagram background. The intimate dining room is lush with serene colors, textural décor, and fine furnishings encompassing. Warmed by a cheerful crackling wood fire in a grand fieldstone fireplace, a spirited burble, and curated instrumental forward country music, every atmospheric detail seamlessly enjoins for an impressive, contented space. We perched on extraordinarily plush bar chairs at the full-service bar, the bustling heart, and a veritable social observatory as guest after guest arrived. Several guests proclaimed this was their third or fourth visit, and they relished the food and occasion.Garrett, Tim, and Chris tendered professional, convivial service, shepherding our experience. There are opulent handcrafted cocktails, impressive wines by the glass or bottle, and beer in addition to premium spirits. We especially enjoyed the Barboursville Pinot Noir Sparkling Rosé, served at the right temperature, and the essence-infused iced tea.The menu of comfort offers three à la carte courses of house-made regional delectableness, each dish punctuated with subtle, welcome surprises of savoriness that reveal as you enjoy them. Fire and Ice tuna is terrific and not to be missed. Sandwiches are paired with distinctive freshly baked artisan bread, cheeses and dressed to perfect them to preeminent gustatory delight. In Russian dressing, chilled Maine lobster and shrimp is a sublime classic; there is nothing "wishbone" about it, the best I have ever had. Appearing simple, each bite was intriguing and better than the last as we explored the details, mastery of cooking, layers of flavors, textures, temperatures, and aromas. Finally, robust hot coffee and the butter pecan ice cream, presented in a baroque chalice, is dense and gently softened to creaminess with the accompanying warm pour-over of sauce and a crispy tuile to complete our meal.By the time we finished, feeling satiated, entertained, and blissful, the wait was an hour for lunch, and they had only been open a week. Nevertheless, Patrick and his impressive team wowed us again with a consistent stunning stage of delicious genuine hospitality where we were invited to play a role of our desiring. The overall experience, from anticipation to reflection, bestows the comprehensive niceties we esteem and hides the torture, so all that you do is enjoy. A second time "in a great while, a restaurant so good you worry," has come to Washington, as history repeats. The fabled Inn transports us to a life-changing elegant country house with scrumptious, three-starred Michelin Guide refined American cuisine, and the assessable, casual Patty O's comports delicious and refined rustic American fare that is unforgettable.

A spectacular makeover of this building/space in “Little Washington”!The food, setting, staff are all superb!See pics for the dishes we tried! This is rare for me and quite personal, but I was completely overcome with joy when I opened the door from the main dining room and stepped into the Bakery section of Patty O’s. It was so stunning and well done that the tears came uncontrollably for a moment before I could regain my composure. The workers thought that something was wrong, but I couldn’t speak or even explain my reaction. Everything was so PERFECT, that I could not control my emotions. This has only happened on a couple of other occasions in my life. To have everything so elegant in every single detail touched me and I just broke down. No doubt this is the intention — AND IT WORKED!!!Enjoy!

My recent visit to Patty O's Cafe left me extremely dissatisfied, primarily due to the abysmal customer service I encountered throughout my dining experience. From the moment I walked in, the staff displayed a noticeable lack of interest in providing quality service. The hostess seemed indifferent and failed to greet patrons with the warmth one would expect in a dining establishment. It set the tone for what turned out to be an overall disappointing evening. The waitstaff, unfortunately, did not improve the situation. Not only were they inattentive, but their lack of knowledge about the menu was evident. When I asked for recommendations, I received vague and unhelpful responses, leaving me to make uninformed choices about my meal.
