I have been going to pet paradise for 15 years and it is the best pet/supplies selection anywhere around. I bought my cockatoo from them in 2008 I still purchase all pet products here. They also have an amazing salt water department. The staff is kind and always ready to help you with any questions. I bring my macaw and cockatoo for regular wing and nail trims against their will. They will definitely take a finger off given the opportunity. Nikki, Rachel & Lillie are all very patient and deal with my crazy birds gently even though the store is always extremely packed and busy! Jean is a book of knowledge when it comes to any bird questions I have. She’s amazing. I can’t Recommend this place enough🙂 thanks for keeping my babies safe and healthy !!

Good selection of pets and personable staff. They also let you hold the small animals and birds, which is great! But do beware of the parrot that likes to eat shirt buttons, and will bite you (hard!) if they think you want to take away their new toy.

This particular locations customer service OVERALL was lackadaisical!!! My friend and I were not greeted properly upon our entrance of the store. Nor were we greeted by other CSR’s in other departments of the store. I had to speak first and even then I had no idea that two of the reps even worked there because they were discussing personal issues and they kissed in the reptile department as the guy departed. I had to probe them both for answers about purchasing a baby bearded dragon. While leaving the store I gave an existing statement and the young lady gave my doggie a treat after a poor entrance. I took my dog and my friend to PET SMART and purchased a more expensive bearded dragon. Point here is, I was a paying customer who was treated poorly and decided to pay more and get great CUSTOMER SERVICE AT PET SMART. Nevertheless I’m a happy camper now.

Went here to get information on how to set up a salt water tank. Ran into Jason who was handling some of the salt water creatures and he gave me very good information, product recommendations, starter fish recommendations time lines to get started and when to bring in samples to get my tank started. We also found a good deal on a biocube tank to start this salt water journey. Small store set up for attention 😄

Need a better pricing system for feeders. I was overcharged because of handwriting issues. Now I have to wait for my money back. They do have great customer service and friendly workers. I have never had this issue with them before, so don't take this review the wrong way. I just think this is the best way to assist their business.Other than this, great company. Just make sure they repeat what they are ringing up so you are able to ensure you aren't being overcharged.

We stop by this pet store every time we come to the beach now. The reason to come to this location is for the BIRDS! The bird area is an experience! They have many different species of parrots and many are out for you to handle. My girls love being able to gain the trust of the birds and then interact with them.They have an extensive selection of both salt and freshwater fish in the back as well as snakes, reptiles and frogs. They have ferrets, bunnies and rats also. You can buy unique gifts and decor here as well.Overall, I love this place. The exotic species available are broad and unique. I expect this store to keep on being fun and a destination pet store for many years to come. A shout out to management for running a great store. Great work!

We love this place! They have almost ALL animals you could want to buy & lots of feeders you may need. Their insects are bred great & always in stock LIVE (everyone hates finding dead insects when you get home). Definitely my go to place!

This place is really nice because it has a lot of animals. And I also love this place because I got my pet bird there and I also made friends with Ms. Nikki’s son and she helps me pick my birds toys. I really love this pet store! And just if anyone tries to make you feel down, just remember this review. Have a good rest of your career/job! 😀

Me and my husband went here to fulfill my love of animals, we ended up buying 2 of the best birds, they said they had no more lovebirds, the bird I came in looking for, and they were so kind and had a baby lovebird I ended up buying that hadn't even touched the floor yet! My husband has a sunconure and both are just so amazing. Love this place.

Have been coming here for many years now. The employees always seem to know lots about the animals they have available. We like to go and visit when we are visiting family and meet all the cool birds they have. A bit pricey, but lots of different kinds of animals to choose from. Best pet store I'm the area!!

Visiting from NY, thought the store was awesome. I would give a five star if the store didn't overwhelm me with animal urine when walking in. Maybe it was a one time thing, hopefully. There were a lot of birds in the same cage, which was sad. I did enjoy seeing the birds that were out in open. Love the reptile section, the setup is great. The fish section was very cool too as well.

Building stinks terribly. You are uppercut with small animal urine and ammonia the instant you open the entrance door. They have a very large variety of exotic animals and birds crammed into a small building. In the past some animals were kept in unacceptable conditions due to lack of space. The prices on animals/fish and supplies are reasonable. The feeder animals are priced below other suppliers.

We have gotten 3 beautiful birds here. Staff is very knowledgeable, caring and friendly. I wanted a certain type cage for my conure before I took him home, and they were great in getting just what I wanted. Now Monty loves it in his new home. The staff is fantastic, and they are great about answering questions and picking out items for your birds.

A unique (to me) pet store that allows contact with some birds and some rabbits. A wide variety of pets to purchase as well as what seemed to be an endless variety of pet supplies. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

This place is simply magical, the ladies here were wonderful. Our first experience with buying a parrot was magnificent. They have all the necessary tools to raise your lifetime friend. We are in love with our new birdie!

Always nice to have a pet owner with experience to help with your pet needs. Got a snake from here and have been back for everything from food to bedding.When our snake had mites, they were really helpful in finding an alternative option to treat since their location was out of the preventamite.

A far as the pet selection goes, if you want birds, Ferrets, reptiles or fish, this could be your spot. The bird section in particular is really cool. However, the staff and signage can be a little passive aggressive in handling pets. Great place to buy a pet, but don’t know if u would shop here with the restrictions and the passive aggressive implied threats. I understand the idea with the pets, but the language could be a lot more inviting.

This place needs to stop hiring teenagers who think working at a pet shop is all about playing with the animals. I was checking out and the cashier was fiddling with a ferret, probably to show off for attention, while trying to get my change out of the register. She couldn't get the ferret to sit still (cuz hello, ferret...) so she balanced it on her shoulder to get the change. This is ridiculous, the ferret could have fallen off her shoulder onto the hard floor and she wouldn't have been able to catch it because she had money in her hands. This is completely irresponsible pet handling.I also wanted to mention I bought 2 young male guinea pigs here, who were I guess 3 months old at the time? Haven't been started on veggies yet and the employee (teenager) who sold them to me told me not to start them on veggies for another 6 months. This is VERY WRONG. I almost told the girl she was stupid. I brought the boys home and immediately started them on veggies.I also shop here for bugs for my Tarantulas. I went to the bug counter and I asked the gentleman for 3 small Dubias. He picked out three, then I politely asked if I could exchange one of the dubies for a smaller one because my Tarantulas were different sizes. He literally got offended and said "You said pick 3 small" like first of all, dude, you need to smoke more weed in your life if you're gonna get upset over a freakin roach. And 2ndly, I asked nicely and it wasn't a huge freaking deal. Their baby dubies range in diff sizes so I just wanted a bit smaller for my smaller T. And that dude wasn't even a teenager, had to be in his 30's.Last, but not least, I've gone into PetP with a friend to look at the aquatic animals. Their axolotls are sickly and they are missing their external gills.Y'all need new, fully trained, ADULT staff and the shop needs a serious deep clean.

My family drives from Newport News to shop here and get our birds' nails trimmed (and play with the baby birds). They're consistently the best place in Hampton Roads to look for birds, snakes, and other exotics. So far we've bought two baby birds (and two corn snakes) from them and they do their level best to ensure that the babies are healthy after you bring them home.One note to be aware of: if you have very small children, the bird area does not allow strollers. The store is a bit small overall so they're hard to maneuver elsewhere too. If you want to bring smaller children, leave the stroller in the car.

Oh my god, this place is really a paradise. Especially for birds and fish, there are a wide range and it is certainly a show stoper. I have been to a few other pet stores and I just have to buy because I have no option. But in pet paradise there are plenty of options. The biggest challenge I had was to train my birds to get adopted to us. Yet after spending a whole lot of time, they are still scared of people. I saw in pet paradise they are literally training them to feed with human hands. There are many birds just left in the store and they are entertaining us. I really loved this place.

One of my new favorite local pet shops! I went to see how their hamster selection looked, and it was huge! Fairly priced as well! I was not expecting the buttload of birds out of cages, holy moly! Their fish selection was BEAUTIFUL, I just wish the salt/freshwater sections were a bit easier to differentiate at a glance. Will be coming again!
