Suffolk Animal Control is one of the nicest AC facilities in Hampton Roads. I was welcomed as soon as I walked in the door and the staff officers were very nice and accommodating. The facility was well maintained and smelled clean. I found my little kitten buddy here and adopted him today! Thank you Suffolk AC for all that you do!❤️

Worst experience. Seems like they pick & choose which dogs they want to help. I'm begging for my 2 labs' life. 1 is only 4 months, the other is 5 years old and I've had since he was 7weeks. I just had to bury my mother, lost my home, now I can't afford over 500 to get them back so I don't get how the solution is to murder them. If I had a little more time I would come get them no matter the price but they will not work with me. I hope someone with a heart will see this and adopt my dogsI even asked to adopt them back I just need more time. I love you Blue & Achilles! They never hurt anyone they are great with families. I just had the worst time losing my mom. Who couldn't understand that?!

I met with the staff. Friendly helpful and you can tell that they really care ❤ for the animals. The place was very clean wirh a good variety of animals. The animal cages are huge compared to most city's. I found the perfect little beagle for our family. They come spayed or neutered already and with shots. I do recommend them.

I have a pit that we cannot keep anymore. I want to find him a good and caring home but I don’t know who to give him too. He is about 2 years old and has not been properly trained when he was a puppy . I really need help finding him a loving home and not an adoption center where he is kept in a cage. Suggestions?

If i could give zero stars, I would. But I just wanna give a big thank you for my friends, sister and neighbor for helping me save my goat, who got his leg stuck in the fence, and was foaming at the mouth and bleeding. Me and my two friends were holding him up for 30-40 minutes. We called Suffolk Animal Care three times for HELP, and my mom, who was at work, got off and got home before animal control was even here. But when someone calls to complain on someone’s animals, they get there in a heartbeat lmfao but ok 👌🏼

So the little brown puppy pictured is Bailey. We adopted her in April 2011 from Suffolk Animal Control. We want to express how grateful we are that God placed her in our lives that day. This little furgirl kept jumping at the gate of her kennel when my husband stood in front of it, and she won him over and was such a great joy to have in our lives. We are heartbroken to say we had to put her down on March 13th of this year because of throat cancer. Thank you, guys, for this AMAZING dog. <3

Top notch. They took care of my concerns promptly. In a rural area I had a skin and bones hunting dog with bad wounds wandering around. I couldn't catch him to try and get him help. A few days later he gave up to die on my back porch. Suffolk animal control was there in 10 minutes and gave him help and picked him up. I called later and they said he was chipped and had located his owner

I called the Suffolk, VA SPCA on Feb. 27, 2015 at 4:45PM and unfortunately my experience with the telephone attendant at the SPCA was really disturbing. Telephone etiquette was none existent and the person's response to my questions regarding adoption were blunt rushing yes / no with absolutely no options to consider other adoptions besides the breed I was seeking to adopt. The telephone call left me with a distasteful impression of the facility in general. Some employees or volunteers don't realize that the way they respond to telephone calls has a direct relation to the manner in which people will perceive the way the organization operates...it is unfortunate for an organization that depends in part or perhaps totally on community donations for continued operations, and lacks the training in basic telephone etiquette to properly communicate with the public.I hope this review will serve as an eye opener to leaders in the organization to take steps to improve telephone communication skills among staff and volunteers.Fred

We adopted a cat from here and brought it into the vet for a check-up just a few days later because we were having trouble getting it to eat. The vet informed us that our new cat was severely jaundiced and had probably been having liver issues for a long time. The fact that the clear discoloration of the cat was never noted by any staff here, and that we weren't informed of any issues with this cat, suggests that the animals here are definitely not cared for in the way they should be. At this point we're just hoping kitty pulls through. Be cautious when considering adoption from here.Edit: We had the cat for 5 days and did what treatment we could, but ultimately couldn't save him. He didn't deserve this. Stay away.

Great expierience! On Friday October 28th I drove past this deadly sick horse and called suffolk animal control. They knew exactly what horse I was talking about and where it was (from previous complaints) they were really nice and they told me that they checked everything from his teeth to his blood and he's 30 years old so he lost a lot of body weight.

I had a tom cat around our neighborhood that kept getting the cats around here pregnant and was also scaring my cats. So when I trapped this tom cat animal control came right out and picked it up. They are amazing with the community, and the animals if Suffolk

The experience was horrible. There was a time when I showed interest in pursuing the veterinary field and decided to volunteer at this shelter over about 2 years. Yet when it came to the time for a recommendation to a veterinary summer event, there was this one woman, possibly the shelter manager, who told me at the last moment that they could not write me a letter of recommendation because she allegedly heard from some unknown source that I was "abusing" the animals, in her words, during my volunteer there and when I asked what "abuse" occurred, she states that the unknown source claimed that I sprayed water in the animals' faces while cleaning the cages. Note that the cages are washed while the animals are in them. Considering that I was washing those cages for about 5 WEEKS with other people there not saying anything or objecting then for doing anything wrong, I find this accusation to be completely ridiculous because if that was the case, then someone should have corrected it IMMEDIATELY. It seems that that woman had no appropriate evidence, especially after considering that the allegation was made towards someone matching "my physical description." Frankly, I believe that anyone with such prejudice should not have any business being around animals. I don't know what " supervising" she has done over the years, but by looking at her attitude, she must have some real issues for therapy!!!!
