My dog sitter got sick as we were packing to leave for my daughters wedding in Cancun. Country K-9 had availability last minute, Apple Blossom weekend, for both my dogs. The indoor/outdoor runs with the option for no contact was perfect for our aging temperamental Boxer and the extra play time for our English Bulldog was just what he needed. The staff was friendly, understanding and very helpful. I will be recommending them to everyone!

We have boarded our Pomeranian Dash there on multiple occasions for various lengths of time. Always a good experience, great price, great staff.

All of our worries were never necessary. This crew was great, we have some high maintenance pets and I had no worries when I walked out the door and when we came to pick them up everybody's clean happy.Very professional operation I would recommend to anybody.

We have been coming to Country K9 for 10 years now. In fact, we drive an hour and 20 minutes one way to board our German Shepherd here.Melissa and Chelsea always treat our boy like he's their own. We are so grateful and privileged to know them and be able to count on them. Our dog isn't always easy to handle, but we always know he's in good, capable, and trustworthy hands at Country K9.Although there are several boarding facilities closer to our home, we wouldn't board him anywhere else.

Very nice facility. My dog was very happy here. Great price transparency on their website. They are back on a gravel road, so do not bring a low clearance vehicle. Very reasonable rates, especially for the Winchester area.

We have never boarded our dogs before, but needed to find somewhere to keep them while we were on vacation. We have two Boston terriers and a Great Pyrenees puppy. Country K9 was great with them, clean, and extremely friendly. I was nervous to leave them since they’ve never been with anyone but family, but I wouldn’t hesitate to leave them with Country K9 again.

They are great they treat my dog like my dog is part of their family. They send me pictures and when I csll bug them about my dog. They answer all my questions and they make sure she’s well taken care of. We’ll always use them.

My dog is an escape artist, but I feel 100% confident when leaving him with Country K9. They are fairly priced, easy to book with and the staff is kind and professional. My dog always returns happy, healthy and clean. I would highly recommend them.Edit: I have used Country K9 for years. This weekend when I picked my boys up they still had half their food in their bag, meaning they were severely underfed for the weekend. My boys never refuse food (hound dogs) so someone either forgot to feed them or fed them minimally. Needless to say, I don’t know if I feel comfortable sending them back.

Boarded our 2 dogs over Memorial Day Weekend for 5 days. The woman at the front deck was friendly during check-in. An employee was waiting to take my dogs to the back. I had a few questions about boarding (first time boarding at this facility, but not first time boarding my dogs) and they were helpful in answering all my questions. When I picked my dogs up, the lady knew exactly how they did and was able to tell me about their little idiosyncrasies which let me know that they interacted and checked on them frequently. They came back tired and happy, which is just how I like them!

If your dog is a total basket case and you’re having trouble finding someone to care for them safely while you’re out of town, look no further. I used to board my rescue dogs here because they were too much to handle for a pet sitter or dog walker. This kennel is set up exactly like a shelter with indoor/ outdoor runs. I boarded 3 basket case rescue dogs with unique needs there over the past few years and they cared for them with compassion and kept them safe while I was out of town. I had a reactive 80lb husky mix who was a resource guarder and had a history of biting other dogs and occasionally people. The indoor outdoor run was perfect for him. They also cared for my semi-feral jindo rescue dog with severe intestinal issues and dietary restrictions due to years of living off of what she could hunt, who was also a professional escape artist capable of scaling any fence and was notorious for chewing out of harnesses to break free on walks. They kept her in an indoor only kennel with a chicken wire roof and fed her the special Z/D food she required. And they also cared for my super skittish rescue beagle whose first owner had been so abusive that she was terrified of strangers. I never had an issue with the care of my dogs. They got their special food and meds as needed and were safe and sound waiting for me when I got home. This kennel isn’t for every dog. Many people would be better off hiring a dog sitter or dog walker. But if your dog is difficult to handle or an escape artist, this place is perfect.

Absolutely terrible. My fiancé and I recently went to take a tour of this facility. Needless to say we were both disappointed and disgusted how dirty, smelly and lack of cleanliness this place had. We came in, spoke to Melissa who gave us a 2-3 minute ‘tour’. Waited a couple minutes before she could take us back, the 2-3 minutes we were shown the kennels she wasn’t willing to answer any questions or go into any details it seemed as if we were bothering her.. The first section we saw was 4 dogs in smaller wire crates. 2 of these dogs were in 1 crate, which did not seem too comfortable for them.. Might I add, non of them had even moved when we walked by them which to us seemed as if they may have been in there for awhile... These wire crates had box fans, laying on top of them to keep them cool. Box Fans! Literally laying on top of the crates. If that’s not a safety hazard I don’t know what is.. She then showed us the inside kennels. Which I the smell in there was terrible!! They also had no A/C.. Only fans.. Dirt and feces all over the place! I mean this place looked more like a jail than anything. If you’re wanting to take your dog to a jail, come home smelling like dirt and feces this is your place.. Now as I write this I wish I could have gotten pictures to post. We are both absolutely floored what we saw and what we smelt.. Please before you get a reservation for your dog please go take a tour and see for yourself. I would never recommend this place..

Worse experience ever. Had our dog there training. We were told it would be a couple weeks. He ended up being there for 7 weeks and Larry the trainer never even messed with my dog. Then when we went to check on him they told us to take him cause we weren't working with them. Then as we were leaving some random guy got rude with my sister.Wosrt animal place ever.I thought since it wasn't Aberdeen acres anymore it would be a better place. I was wrong.

I do not have any previous experience with the former owner of Aberdeen Acres. My first time to use this facility for boarding and training was under new ownership. I own Rural Dog Rescue a 501c3 Non Profit who has rescued and rehomed over 700 dogs from high kill shelters. We used County K9 to board a very out of control coonhound who had zero manners and had been kicked out of a boarding facility and a foster. The care we received was outstanding and the training he received was extremely helpful for this dog on his way to a forever home. Everyone we talked with was helpful, polite and courteous. Our volunteers popped in frequently to check on the dog and reported rave reviews each time. I deal with many boarding kennels and trainers in VA, MD, DC, NC and SC and we were very pleased with our experience here. So much so that we will continue to send our rescue dogs to Country K9 Pet Resort and have asked them to partner with us in helping save the lives of homeless dogs. Rural Dog Rescue highly recommends!

i brought my cat here while we went on vacation. the price to board was fair. they were patient when i would call in to check on her. when i picked her up, she looked happy and well taken care of. we have some vacations coming up and we have also added an additional cat to our family, i will definitely be calling here to board both of them in the future.

We took our two dogs for three days. We really didn’t do much research on this kennel and thought, “how bad can it be?”. The place looked really run down from the outside and kinda like a motel had been there and it just got a paint job and was called a kennel. The inside was nice enough and the people were very kind. The small bit I did see of the kennels didn’t look very good but that was only when the opened the door to let out dogs in. You could see windows on the second floor and Im almost positive by this point it was an old motel. Their was a window for a room and on every one the was an old baby gate at the window to maybe prevent the dogs from breaking and falling out? It looked a little creepy and I wasn’t all to comfortable at this point letting my dogs stay their. On the way back home we started reading reviews and slowly got more worried. When we came to pick them up, we asked to see where they dogs stayed. The wouldn’t let us. “Ok. Maybe they don’t want the dogs getting stirred up..”. So we got our dogs back, who were VERY happy to see us, and took them outside to go to the bathroom. And boy did the go. And they went and went for a looong time. Implying they hadn’t been able to use the bathroom for quite some time. They were a little dirty for only being in there for the weekend but when we got the bag that held the dogs food, it was clear to see it had been peed on. Over all, they won’t be back and I certainly do not recommend. But they weren’t absolutely terrible

UPDATE: As of August of 2020 our pitbull/boxer mix is still doing well from his training. We moved across country with him in September of 2019 and had no issues. We even had him off leash at my parents house during the 4th of July and he didn’t leave or go far. He even stayed outside for fireworks without much issues. Which I was shocked to see. I would suggest staying strong on the training because our dog has decided that since we have relaxed on things he can relax on the rules. But when we tell him a command he does listen. So I’m still happy overall.ORIGINAL REVIEW: So my husband and I got a pit bull/boxer mix puppy almost a year ago as a gift for our son. We promised him once we had a house we would get him one. When I tell you Wayne was a nitemare, I mean it. It had gotten to a point that we had considered rehoming him. We decided to try and have him trained by Larry. Best decision ever! Now Wayne had to stay a little longer then we expected him to, but with how crazy he was I didn’t mind. Now just know not every dog will be perfect even now Wayne is still crazy, but he fully listens now. We had a party with at a minimum ten people in our home and Wayne was so well behaved that most of my guest were shocked at how amazingly great he listened. We even opened the front door and placed him before we let guest in and he didn’t move nor go bolting towards the door. Now he did get his moments of getting over excited, but once we gave him his command he listened. I would honestly recommend him to anyone looking for a great dog trainer.

Front desk was good and helpful but this place was sooo loud it scared my 3 little girls to death. The kennels were so close together that the larger dogs barking overwhelmed me. You couldn't hear anything but the barking!!! Ended up taking our 3 yorkies out of there!! Was not impressed.

They are truly the best!!! They take such great care of my dog when I bring her in for a bath. I know she's a handful, but they treat her as if she's one of their own.Highly recomend!!!

Russ and all the employees there have treated my two dogs like their own. Scotty received training there and it was wonderful. Even though I haven't kept up with Scotty's training like I should have (ok, I have spoiled Scotty too much), Scotty still remembers his training. Every time I bring Scotty to get groomed, Scotty is so happy to be there, he pulls at the leash just to see everyone. I love the way Scotty gets groomed also. I have seen other dogs there that are happy there. You guys are the greatest!

I board my 3 dogs here. They are always excited to go in. The staff really care about the animals and have always been very accommodating with plans and any changes I've needed to make, even when it's been last minute.

Love the staff at country K9 and apparently my 120lb Saint Bernard was just as happy with them, because when we picked her up, she was just as happy to see the staff as she was to see us. Amazing.
