Bryan and the crew at Black Dog Are super chill. I picked up another bike earlier this year and they have been very helpful in maintaining the quality of the bike as wheel as any upgrades needed. Bike: 2021 specialized enduro comp. they are also very knowledgeable about trails, single track, fire roads, enduro comps etc.

I had a really nice experience buying a new mountain bike from Black Dog Bikes. They are one of the few shops in the region that carry Rocky Mountain Bikes, an awesome Canadian bike company that specializes in mountain bikes. They helped me fit the bike by extending the stem and saddle distance, made my wheels tubeless, and adjusted my shocks. They gave me a fair price, good customer service, and a cool free T-shirt. This is a great little bike shop in a small town. I thought it was worth the hour drive to get there.

I bought a great used bicycle here and recently had it serviced and now it rides like a dream. I also just got one of their e-bikes and I'm so excited to run short errands around our cute town while getting fresh air, sunshine, and a bit of exercise, without it feeling like a chore. I was unhappily surprised when I read the manual and saw the first three trips need to be followed by a full charge of the battery for 12 hours to "balance the battery," otherwise it could compromise its functionality. Dropping over $1K on a bike only to have no warning of what to do upon riding it home wasn't ideal, so just putting a warning here if you decide to make this game changing purchase.

We had an excellent experience at Black Dog and I cannot recommend them enough. We were in the area for an MTB race and needed some service (new tires, migrate to tubeless) and they were happy to fit us in on a Saturday. James was running the shop that day and was exceptionally knowledgeable, patient, helpful, and gracious to us. Black Dog also has an excellent selection of bike gear, tools, accessories, etc. Highly recommended! Thanks guys!

i just upgraded my bike, and kids now all have bikes. They were super friendly and helpful with picking right back and making sure fit correctly. Also whenever i needed repair they were quick and thorough. It is a GEM of a bike shop and we lucky to have such a well run locally owned bike shop

Another great business in Staunton. Staff is very courteous and knowledgeable. I brought an old bike in for a tune up. Fast service and reasonably priced. I inherited an older bike and the gears seemed to be slipping. I took my bike here (along with my daughter’s flat bike tire) and I was very impressed with everything. They fixed the tire and replaced a cable in the gear of my bike while I waited. They were professional, kind and appreciative of my business. James keeps a great inventory of parts in stock and often makes repairs while I wait even if I was expecting to leave the bike for a couple of days. Prices are always fair and the service is exceptional and friendly. Black Dog is just a great local bike shop.

Nice Bike Shop with a good selection and even better service. I had three bikes that all needed repair. He repaired the bikes and did routine maintenance just as I had asked. He completed the job very quickly also. His prices are reasonable and comparative to other local bike shops. I will buy my next bike from him.

James is awesome and totally saved our bacon! My dad and I were in the area to bikepack the Blue Ridge Wrangler and needed an emergency derailleur replacement due to an unlucky mishap ~1.5 miles in to the route that resulted in an irreparably bent derailleur cage. We showed up at the shop about ten minutes before they opened and walked out 15 minutes later back in business. Saved the trip for us! Many thanks James!

I love having such a great bike shop just a couple blocks away. I bought helmets for my kids when they were just learning on balance bikes, and then returned to buy them bikes when they were ready to move up. I bought myself a bike to get back into bicycling after 20 years of not being on a bike. I got an extra set of wheels, rotors, cassette, and tires to be able to use my hardtail mountain bike as a bike around town/on a trainer at home. Folks at the shop are always knowledgeable and eager to help. I never feel like I'm be pressured to buy anything extra, or anything that wouldn't specifically for me and my kids. Looking forward to their new location as it'll be even closer to the house!

I bought a used 2016 Specialized mountainbike on e-bay from a "mechanic" there. The "mechanic" did not bother to wash/clean it. It arrived with the rear derrailleur attached to the frame and bent. The crank could not even be turned. The front wheel was out of true and the breaks may have needed to be bled. What type of bike mechanic would send a bike out like that? Not one I would let touch my bike.
