this place is horrible i walked in to get some dog food and this is what i see #1 crusted geckos are arboreal meaning they live in trees and need looks of hides the crusted gecko i saw here was living in the same bad enclosure they kept leopard gecko with hot temperatures crusted geckos live in high humidity and that’s just the tip of the iceberg they clearly could provide proper enclosures but won’t #2 the leopard gecko was clearly UNDER FED he struggled to move properly and was extremely skinny on top of the bad enclosure #3 for the Guinea pigs they were in a tank no bigger then 10-15 gallons GROWN guinea pigs all of this is just the TIP of the iceberg this place is horrible i wish i took more pictures to truly show the bad environment.

Always a good experience when needing new tank mates and aqua plants. Tony, Crystal and the entire team are always helpful and knowledgeable with their pet care and clients. Super appreciative always.

First time visiting this location. Had an online order to pick up.lmpressed before I even walked in the door.There was a stretch of artificial grass in the parking lot. I thought that was a good idea compared to all of the dead grass and dirt I have seen at and near other pet store locations.Mulch appears to be a deterrent. So, my grand puppy does not usually want to relieve herself there.My visit was brief. I picked up my order approximately 15 minutes before closing with no problem.

I had the most uncomfortable strange experience there. Very unfriendly , defensive, sarcastic manager checked me out. I asked a simple question and he was very hostile. He smelled like he washed his clothes in cigarettes and hadn’t brushed his teeth in decades to top it off. Before this experience I frequented this store several times a week. Never again. They also charge you for very thin plastic bags after you spend a mint there already. You are pretty much forced to buy them if you buy more than a hands worth of tiny cat food cans. No thanks ! There is a PetSmart in Stafford market place with much more selection, friendly respectful staff and they do not charge for bags !

I called last week and left a message for grooming. I never received a call back. I called again yesterday, my number was taken and left on the groomers desk, so I was told. I was really looking forward to having my dog groomed there. I called today to get an understanding why I didn't get a call back. Not a good way to do business. (I am giving 2 stars because they gave him shots before and that was fine and there was great customer service.)

Always helpful and they keep our desired brand of dog food in stock. I know that sounds odd but some of the other stores don't keep the same stock levels so we've started coming exclusively to Petco.

Spent a few hundred dollars over the course of 2 days, and 2 trips. Both trips I wanted to also purchase a couple of aquatic plants I was eyeing in one of the tanks. Couldn't get an employee to help me. First time was in the evening, never saw an employee in or near the aquarium section I could ask for help. Checked out with a 29 gal, and a 14 gal cube with some accessories. Came back the next day around 4 pm, grabbed a 6 gal edgelight cube, waited for about 20-25 minutes in the aquarium section, never saw an employee go by to ask for help. Headed up front to the register, asked the gal if there was someone who could help me with get plants out of the tank, she said she'd send someone back. Headed back again to wait, employee comes back and immediately tends to another customer who had just wandered into the area, then moseys off elsewhere. I honestly shouldn't have even proceeded with my purchases that day, but I went to go check out, without the plants I wanted for the second time in as many days. Told the gal I was never helped, and that I waited upwards of 30 mins to never even see an employee walk by. Her only response is that they don't staff that area until such and such time.... which is great, except I even went and asked for help I didn't get it, but then it also occurred to me-- why was there no one there the evening before during the time in which that area of the store is staffed? Good sales on tanks from time to time, however extremely lax customer service all around at all locations I've been to. I tried a second location in Manassas for a third trip this same weekend, this location had employees around... but they don't ask if you need help either, and are pretty avoidant to the point you feel like an inconvenience asking for their assistance. I might still use them for their tanks sales, but only for things I can get off the shelf myself. But I definitely won't be making any recurring purchases like my $90 bags of dog kibble, $50 cases of canned food, dog supplements, tank chemicals, filter media, dog vitamins and supplements. Hit em for the sales, but stick to Chewy for your recurring purchases and save yourself the frustration.

Theres a caveat to this: the Grooming Staff is great. No complaints there, but this location frequently suffers from power outages, fails to honor their promotions, and it's floor staff has some of the worst conflict resolution skills I've seen as a customer.

Packaging changes by the manufacturer (new colors) led to confusion and the wrong item being ordered. This was realized at the store and the item returned. The discount for picking up after ordering online was not available on the correct item for an in store purchase.HOWEVER the customer service in store was awesome and the assistant help me order via my phone to get the discount and pick up immediately. They certainly went the extra distance so I will certainly shop at this store again. Not just on price but on assistance from staff.

So helpful today when we got our "special needs" bearded dragon for my special needs grandson, who saw he was missing part of his tail and several toes on his back foot. This handsome dragon found a home! We left there knowing even more about his care than we expected. Great knowledge and warm staff!

Went to Petco recently and the store was very clean. The cashier was very helpful and she was patient with us as we ran back to grab one more thing. No one was in line behind us. She was very personable as well. It was a nice visit.

Cheaper than Petsmart. They're always in stock of the specific refrigerated dog food I come in for when closer stores don't have what I need. My dog has been welcomed with love every trip as well which means more than anything else lol So 5 stars. I'd recommend this Petco to a friend. :)

Petco is my favorite pet store. In store and online shopping with easy pickup or delivery is seamless. I use the grooming salon for my long haired chihuahua and they don’t a great job every time.

They do not have their animals kept in right conditions. For example they feed their leopard geckos kale, a leopard gecko's digestive system is not made to digest any kind of fruits or vegetables.

Took my Snowy at the Stafford Petco for grooming. The groomer was very pleasant and he even recommended the Petco vital care program which I ended up joining. When I picked Snowy up, she looked awesome so I tipped generously and left. After getting home and really examining my dog because she has lots of hair…, I noticed that the middle shaft of her tail appeared red and it was bleeding slightly. It was probably an unintentional scissor cut and it eventually healed up but when it did, it left a small fleshy bump like scar tissue. Thankfully her tail is bushy so it isn’t that noticeable but it still bothered me that this happened and no one said anything.I know grooming isn’t easy and I know that dogs move around during the cutting process and some may even be very difficult to handle…but please say something! Don’t just act like nothing happened. I wish Corey would have just said “ma’am, while I was clipping Snowy, I accidentally nipped her tail…I would have appreciated the forthcomingness & honesty rather than just saying she was a good dog. It took me a while to decide whether or not I should share my experience since I already gave 5 stars the day of the grooming BEFORE I noticed Snowys tail. After a month of debating I decided to finally say something. Transparency is key! :-(,

I use the grooming services pretty regularly and I adore the groomer named Tom. With that being said, I have had a couple of not so great experiences with several other employees. One young lady in the grooming department told me that my dog had gingivitis and needed to see his vet. After taking him to the vet I was told that he definitely does not have gingivitis. My most recent experience at the store is truly what is driving my two star review. I have a 29 gallon fish tank that I have set up for my daughter since she is interested in goldfish at the moment. I have experience with goldfish and understand that they do require a fairly large tank. After asking an employee for assistance to select a fish she told me that she would not recommend goldfish. They need large tanks. I explained that I have a 29 gallon tank and she said goldfish need at least 20 gallons minimum so that would be the only fish in the tank. One fish is all I wanted so this wasn’t a problem. She continued to say that she would just not recommend goldfish as a whole and went back to whatever she was doing in the fish tanks. I put all of the items I planned to purchase back on the shelves and left the store empty handed. Again, Tom in the grooming department is amazing. I have a senior dog and together they take several breaks to complete the grooming service. As an owner I appreciate this so much. I’d give him a 5 star review if this was review was only for him specifically. Tom is the only reason this review was not a one star review.

The store's cleanliness is outstanding. Their pets are a priority. This last visit the bird cages were being cleaned. Previous visits the reptile tanks and aquariums were bring cleaned.

This location is wonderful. Staff is friendly and store is clean. Grooming team goes above and beyond. Chloe is the nicest person to my sweet but nervous pup. My dog is excited to see Chloe but hates the loud sounds. Chloe takes her time to not overwhelm my girl and comfort her to lessen her nerves. Chloe is a God send and Petco is lucky to have her.

We have been trying to clip our pets nails at home during this covid mess and did a poor job. The young man in the grooming area was wonderful. He was friendly, informative and quickly set up an appointment for our pets' grooming needs. Then we went back to the fish area and had a very informed clerk tell us about the fish we were interested in. She was knowledgeable and helped us pick the fish we wanted. Overall~ very satisfied!

It’s a hit or miss with professional customer service. I feel like the Stafford location and a few others need an overhaul, new people with better management. Management makes the entire attitude of a store. This locations has bad management. I was hung up on without acknowledgment of an ended conversation. And they have no knowledge of fish. Their betta section is poorly taken care of compared to other locations. And the “fish” people didn’t even notice one needed medication for fin rot. I know people I saw the fish on a Thursday and bought it on a Sunday. I asked for a discount and the manager looked at the totally grey paradise betta and said she saw nothing wrong. I’m calling petco headquarters and never shopping this location again.

Honestly the quality has gone down. Most of the end caps and displays are poorly maintained and you can tell the store has seen better days. Also not much in the way of reptile foods, no live crickets or anything of that nature. The fish section was alright and clean but not great for anything aside from beginner level. The adoption displays are nice and hopefully the animals find forever homes with this but with the level of customer service the store provides I don't think it would be inviting to people to come in. The location is not great by any means. It's near a home depot and a giant so I guess the foot traffic is a little better? But dollar for dollar I would say you're better off finding a small business or a petsmart in this area. It was pretty easy to leave this place a one star.

I won’t be going back there for grooming. The lady was very rude when I asked about the pricing cause I was trying to understand why it was $42 for just a bath. She said “ this is ridiculous it’s 8 o clock and I have to go home, you don’t have to pay this and you are not to come back here again” I never once said I wasn’t gonna pay, I just simply asked her why it was so expensive and explain what it said online vs what it said at the store. Can’t believe they have people like her working there. Very poor customer service.Side note: The store manger on the other hand was very nice.
