Fish store had a good selection however some of the guppies they have on sale are not worth their price $10. Despite the quality of the fish, they sold me a scrawny guppy. On Day 4, the guppy started slowing down and on Day 5 the guppy had an inverted stomach (most likely a parasitic infection commonly found in guppies/platy/mollies) and died. All my other fishes do not have this symptoms like this. I have another guppy I got from that is also on the smaller scale so I'm going monitor that fish closely now. Make sure that the fish you take away from the store is on the larger side, not slow, and from tanks that doesn't show any other sick and dead fishes since their refund policies only cover 48 hours after purchase.I am unhappy with the outcome of this one fish and the stores unwillingness to work with me. Only $10 wasted, but lesson learned.

My favorite place now to come for beta fish! Absolutely amazing selection of these little guys and the male I picked out is gorgeous. No signs of sickness or ripped fins like most big chain petstore betas. Everyone was so friendly and helpful even when I came in 15 minutes before closing to get my fish. They are so caring about their fish too because they asked me if I had my tank all set up and the nitrogen cycle is established. Love this place! Definitely will come here for all my beta needs in the future😊

I've had a great experience buying bettas online from this store. The first betta I bought was in July 2023. She's a female giant betta. She shipped out the next day and arrived well packed and healthy. The second betta I bought was in December 2023 (a male giant this time). After about a week, I received an email saying that the fish wasn't healthy enough to ship and I could choose another. I don't want to receive a sick fish so I appreciate them reaching out. I emailed back letting them know which one I wanted instead, this one also being a male giant. After a little less than a week, he shipped out. He was packed well and was very healthy. I've attached photos of my bettas (sorry for the low quality, it's hard to take good photos of fish). The female has more blue and the male has more red.

Best fish & shrimp shop I have dealt with. The owner is very knowledgeable and, even better, really cares about educating you about the shrimp and fish you wish to purchase. He taught us the difference between different types of shrimp, explained what water needs each has, etc etc. The other staff members were super nice. Our shrimp are completely healthy. Great variety too. Thanks!

I love this store! They have a wide variety of well cared for fish in a clean store. I'm extremely glad to have found out about this store. The employee that helped me (although new) was extremely nice and friendly! She was quick to help me get what I needed and answer my questions. The owner is also extremely knowledgeable and clearly cares a ton about the well being of the fish.

The owner was so knowledgeable about all the fish he was selling in store! I came in a day before the store technically opened and he was very welcoming! I wish they had a sign so its easier to find though. I got 5 koi bettas and 1 dragon scale betta( i think thats what its called) 1 male and 1 female tiger guppy and all were in great health, but the dragon scale had a slight lump on it so i called after hours to leave a message for the next day, and to my surprise the owner answered me back and answered all the questions I had for him. The tanks are so clean compared to the other stores, the fish are slightly pricey but that’s because you are getting a very healthy fish. When i went in the building was still under construction (because they weren’t technically open yet) and I didn’t get to see their whole selection of fish, I cant wait to go back again when the building is complete! Would definitely recommend this store to all betta collectors/ hobbyists, or for those who are just starting out! The owner answered all of my questions and gave me tips about my tank so any newbies shouldn’t be scared to spark a conversation with any of the workers!

Love Splashy Fish! Nguyen is extremely knowledgeable and personable, and he’s a true professional and a pleasure to do business with. The new location is clean and well stocked with all supplies needed. I also find his prices to be competitive and fair, and he’s been prompt to resolve any issues. Nguyen also always has the animals best interest in mind. He receives new shipments in regularly which is not always listed on the site. So I find myself stopping in frequently to see what’s new.

Best fish store in Northern VA right off the the belt way!! If you have not stopped by to check out betta fish best selection in the DMV and other unique supplies worth the time better then large box stores. Service is excellent! I forgot to mention best place to buy fresh water shrimp.

Okay, so I'm not really one to write reviews. However, I am so beyond happy with Splashy Fish that I feel his store DESERVES one! I ordered my beautiful giant betta online with the pickup option and drove an hour away to transport my fish. I do not support chain pet stores because of how poorly these bettas are treated. When I arrived I was mind blown when I saw his set up and how immaculate it was, and all ran out of his own home! He is very knowledgeable in his field and all his fish are very well taken care of. I've been keeping bettas on and off for about 9 years and never have a had a fish so spunky and happy the first day he goes into his tank. He does offer shipping services if you don't live locally. Please support his business so he'll be able to open a store outside of his home! He absolutely deserves it!

I just bought my first purchase from Splashy Fish - some beautiful Cardinal Tetras! The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable, and my new fish appear healthy and brightly colored. I'm excited to begin keeping tetras (after mostly keeping platyfish for several years), and I was hoping to start well by purchasing my first tetras from a private breeder with good ethical practices. I believe I chose the right place for that, and I will be returning in a couple of weeks to get a few more tetras once my first bunch have settled in. I look forward to seeing the owner's new store location the next time!

I upgraded my 50 gallon to a much larger tank and needed some more fish. Tired of the petco and petsmart chains I was going to buy fish online which brought me to Splashy. Went there today, pretty good selection. Staff were awesome, although some younger guys still learning - they had someone that knew much more to give the right recommendations for my setup.They're limited on the add on stuff like no fluval FX pads and the like (which I would have also bought there) but good fish selection and happy with my visit. Def my go to fish store for now on. Nice to support a local business.

First time ordering and I was very happy with the whole experience. The crabs were individually packed in their own tubes and nestled snugly in the box, which had a heating pad included to ensure the crabs were comfortable. The personal note from the Splashy team was a nice touch ☺️. They arrived quickly and acclimated well to their new home. We absolutely would order from here again!

Great quality plants and shrimp! All of the floating plants I bought are thriving, and all of the pretty shrimp (aside from the few that helped us discover our betta loves seafood) have been thriving. Local pickup was quick and convenient as well. Great place!

We were lucky to get to visit the store in person. The owner runs the store himself and has the most amazing selection of Bettas, which he breeds. He takes great care in keeping the fish and will answer all questions. He’s had champion Betta (in fact he says he’s no longer allowed to compete since he always sweeps the categories). His fish have colors that are unmatched. And best of all, he’s a hobbiest and doing this because he loves it. He has other fish he breeds as well, such as guppies, discus, more. While his prices may seem a bit more than other fish stores (for other fish, not really the bettas, which are just another level) he knows where his fish come from and takes great care of them. I bought a female B-grade (lowest grade) which looks more amazing than any other Betta I’ve seen at other fish stores. She’s doing great in my tank. Very vibrant and immediately was looking for good. A good appetite to me is a sign of a healthy, well acclimated fish.

First experience ordering a fish online and I’m beyond satisfied… delivery was a breeze and the betta was packed so carefully even to ship to my 40° area…The acclimation guide was spot on and Cosmo has accepted every meal starting day 1. Beautiful selection of betta fish. Many you cannot find in chain stores. There's also other fish, shrimps, and a decent selection of plants. Owner was super nice and knowledgeable. Highly recommend stopping by (appointments can be made on his website, which is actually organized very well). The Betta fish selection can also be viewed on the website too.The Betta I picked up can be seen in the pictures.

Great experience! We came here after our sons "big box" Beta passed away after a year and a half- the owner was extremely helpful at answering any questions our son had about care for his new beta, and provided instructions on how to best acclimate his new Beta (now named Darwin) to his tank. What a gem- we will certainly be back to purchase food and plants for the tank.

Got a GIANT GALAXY KOI BETA FISH from here and he is the healthiest, happiest, most playful and prettiest fish I've ever had 😍😍😍 he's how I got my fiance into fish and now we are talking about starting a collection of these beautiful betas that are specially bred by splashy fish 😊 thank you so much for our new baby! Great place, had all the fish I happened to be looking for that day. Not a huge selection but what they had was great, some different things than in “normal” pet store. A fun long finned lemon pleco I had never seen and hillside loaches that I have only seen once before plus several cori catfish that the other stores have been out of for a month. A betta room, a shrimp room, large angels, plants. Very helpful and friendly staff. Hard to find at first google map it and follow the tiny sign. A few doors past the scuba shop.

I am so so happy with my visit to Splashy Fish! His selection is amazing, his knowledge for fish, and his set up is super impressive. I will say, please please don’t hesitate to visit, I was a little nervous going because he runs his impressive business from his home but I will be coming to him for many years to come to find fish, plants and food for my Betta. I spent all day before my visit driving from petsmart to petsmart looking for the perfect fish and I left every one sad and disappointed with their level of care for their fish. Splashy fish has left me thanking that there are people out there willing to go the extra mile for their aquatic friends and costumers. I cannot say it enough, if you want a fish, come here. If you decide to visit, call ahead first. Currently he does mail order and runs his business from his garage. The gentleman who owns this business is excellent and knowledgeable. He takes a lot of pride in his profession and it shows. It was a pleasure talking with him. I picked up some great fish, plants, and snails when I visited. This place is AMAZING! The owner is super knowledgeable and NICE, if he thinks that your fish tank is not ready to have fish, shrimp(which I got) or even plants he would explain you how to set it up. I have already visited more than 3 times and every time he has new fish or plants and make me excited! Definitely recommended! I will never go back to a chain pet shops! Also since I have my fish tank set up correctly, my betta fish and shrimps are healthy and happy!
