This was our second stay at Hopkins Ordinary. We stayed an extra night so we’d have more time to enjoy it and the surrounding area. Wonderful stay, delicious breakfast, amazing service. We love being able to walk to restaurants in Sperryville. This weekend it snowed, so we especially enjoyed the fireplace in our room, in the living room, and in the ale house downstairs. We also very much enjoyed the beers. We had a great, snowy hike in Shenandoah National Park just a 10 min drive from the B&B. Highly recommend, and we hope to be back again soon! Thank you, Caryn and Robert and Sherri and Kevin for a wonderful stay!

My husband and I had a memorable time at the Hopkins Ordinary Inn. We were greeted warmly by the innkeepers, Caryn and Robert who took the time to walk us through the property and answer our questions about the surrounding area of Rappahannock County. The room was very comfortable, immaculately clean, with a fireplace. It was a short walk to our delicious memorable dinner at Three Blacksmiths. Caryn and Robert prepared a delightful breakfast with homemade muffins and eggs. It was a perfect experience topped off by the homemade chocolate chip cookies that were waiting for us in our room. Kudos and thanks to Caryn and Robert for making our visit so special.

We very much enjoyed our short stay at the Hopkins Ordinary B&B last summer! Very attentive and nice staff and a beautiful building! We enjoyed our very nicely decorated room, the fresh and delicious breakfast as well as sitting on the porch, having a coffee or a beer. Great place to stay when going to the Shenandoah National Park. Would love to come again and would definitely recommend!

Didn't stay here but popped in for some beer and had fresh hot pretzels as well. Let me tell you... Both were amazing. Did a flight of their maltier beers and they were very well done. The hot pretzels with both the fig and mustard dips were amazing.

Stopped by here for a beer after a long, wonderful hike. We loved the atmosphere - they have a beer garden beneath a most magnificent tree and a stone-walled cellar that reminds me of sitting in bars in Prague or Germany. Service and the beer were all terrific. Had a warm soft pretzel with our refreshing drinks, though snack options are limited.

We stopped there for the beer garden. And it was great. They have a lovely basement, and it is very unique. They also have lots of outdoor seating, but we didn't get to enjoy it because it was kinda hot, but maybe next time. Beer was great, and the bar people were very friendly and awesome.

My friend and I were looking for a place to stay after hiking Old Rag at Shenandoah National Park. Hopkins Ordinary is only 15 minutes far away from Old Rag Ranger station parking lot. As we were arriving, Kevin was waiting for us at the front porch. Although the brewery is closed on Tuesdays, Kevin still offered us beer. All of them were so good! The room was very clean and cozy. We loved it! We walked to Headmaster’s pub for dinner as Kevin recommended and we had a blast. Nice little town! And, Kevin's breakfast was amazing! We stayed only a night and we both wished we could stay a week there! We will definitely visit again. Thank you for the great experience, Kevin!

We took a spontaneous weekend trip to Rappahannock County and were really lucky to find a spot at Hopkins Ordinary on the same day as arrival. (Someone had cancelled last minute.) We ended up with the Forager's Cottage, which was lovely - very large, well equipped, and beautifully decorated. Plus, the mattress in the main bedroom was extremely comfortable, always a huge plus. After we unpacked, we visited Hopkins Ordinary's nano-brewery, where we met the friendly proprietors, Sherri and Kevin, and thoroughly enjoyed the excellent beer. We'll definitely be back. One note to renters of the cottages: they don't include breakfast. The Sperryville Corner Store down the block has wonderful fresh pastries, local produce, and more. It's a great place to get food for the cottage.

Great place for a beer after hiking in Shenandoah. The owners are great and very helpful. The beer garden is a relaxing, shady area outside. As well there is a cozy Celler of the weather isn’t good. Definitely a great place to return to!Nearby activities: Shenandoah National ParkFood & drinks: Great beer at the aleworks

Only stayed one night, but wished it was more. My strong recommendation to anyone going is to take Kevin up on any recommendations, assistance, or experiences he offers. Turn your vacation judgment over to him - he’s been there for 20 years so he knows the area. His dinner recommendation (Blue Door) was fabulous. He knows the people there and made the reservation for us. When we returned from dinner he graciously gave us a flight tasting of whiskeys from the Copper Fox distillery. The next day he arranged for the distillery to give us a mini tour. Beyond this, our room was immaculately kept. The back patio was the perfect spot for a post-hike beer. Sherri’s breakfast of Eggs Hopkins was heavenly. And, Kevin’s beers could compete with the best craft breweries - had to resist taking multiple growlers home. When you’re there it won’t be long before you’re planning your return. Thanks Kevin and Sherri. We’ll be back soon.

Absolutely lovely--very peaceful and fun. The B&B is within walking distance to a small bar, a pizza restaurant, a larger pub, and an upscale grocery. Also within walking distance, a couple small art galleries and a river walk (it is called a river but to me it was more of a creek). But perhaps my favorite part was the B&B had 8-10 good beers made in house by the proprietors. I likes the Rye the best but they were all drinkable and refreshing. I highly recommend.

We've stayed here 3 times now and will be sure to be back. Perfect location in the cute town of Sperryville. We've stayed in the main house and the cottage. We prefer the cottage so we can grav food from the shop near by and cook. The near by pizza and bar francis is also amazing. The brewery cave was back open, good beer and beer garden.Nearby activities: Right behind the cottage is the sperryville river walk, which takes you to the School house and par 3 golf course. The trail keeps winding through until copperfox distillery. They've done a ton of improvements and plantings of native trees along the trail.Walkability: The sperryville river trail is a short walk through part of the Civil War trail. The town itself had a quaint main street strip with shops and service places .Food & drinks: There are only a handful of options but they are all winners. From the divine 3 black smith's to before and after, or just a mile away to pen druid and Sumac. This place is a foodie lovers dream.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for three nights. Kevin and Sherry are gracious hosts and really go out of their way to make you comfortable. Our room, The Oregano, had a wonderful porch facing the street, a great spot to have dinner and a beer or morning coffee. The room is lovely and well decorated. Breakfast meals were yummy! Very nice presentation and healthy. In the afternoon there could be nothing better than a cold beer after a day hiking the park. I felt a little odd thinking about what beer I would enjoy at 9 am before starting our hikes. The outdoor beer garden space is well shaded and comfortable. Highly recommend Hopkins Ordinary B and B!!

We just spent a couple nights at this family owned & operated Bed/breakfast and had a great time. Hosts were gracious and friendly and had an eclectic mix of home brews that are all delicious and the perfect way to end a day of hiking and sight seeing. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the house is nicely situated on a quaint Main Street. Beautiful hiking trails are close by and the surrounding area has lots of interesting history. We' d highly recommend staying here and look forward to our return visit soon.

Visited Hopkins Ordinary on Saturday for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! You would never guess what it looks like from just driving by on the road, and I'm so glad we finally made it there to visit. The indoor seating area is wonderfully charming, with 200-year old beams and a great 'hidden treasure' feel. We tried all nine beers and, much to our surprise, were amazed by the quality and flavors. We have visited all the area breweries and this is one of the best. The Rauch-style beer and the stout were standouts, as were the two blond/lighter styles. The saison had a wonderful cucumber note from....you guessed...cucumbers! The beer garden is small but inviting under the shade of a massive elm tree.Spoke with the owner and staff who were very accommodating and gave us a short tour of the facility, its history and the history of the business. Owner was very humble and soft-spoken, but he certainly knows what he is doing and this business is now on our "highly recommend" list to friends visiting the area. In a region where generally characterless micro-breweries are sprouting up everywhere, this is a perfect example of 'quality' over 'quantity'! Well done!

We spent two nights here and will be returning. Perfectly situated between hiking trails in the park and the famous restaurant nearby. Our hosts gave us an excellent hiking trail recommendation personalized for our plans that day. The beer garden was relaxing after a good hike. Breakfasts were delicious. Our room was smallish but very comfortable and we enjoyed the porch with a view of the cute street. It was a very pleasant experience!

Hopkins Ordinary was a perfect weekend getaway. The room we stayed in (Lavender) was wonderful, to include the little treat when we arrived, and the ale tastings were perfect for our return from local hikes. Kevin was a great host--knowledgeable of the local options for dinners or other meals/beverages/snacks, and even the seasonal plants (in our case, the chanterelle mushrooms, a few of which he offered us for our breakfast when another couple brought some in from their hike). The location is fantastic! We were across the street from the Bar Francis, which would be our 'Cheers' bar if we were lucky enough to live in Sperryville, as well as the best pizza place we've visited in our lives--Rappahannock Pizza Kitchen (RPK). But we digress... To return from tough August hikes along the Blue Ridge and have waiting for us several wonderful ales or beers made in-house was lifechanging, And to follow up with great meals at places such as the Blue Rock Restaurant, Griffins Tavern, Three Blacksmiths, the Blue Door, or RPK. We slept with smiles on our faces...

We stayed at the Hopkins Ordinary from 09/17/2020- 09/21/2020. This was our second time staying at this Bed and Breakfast and we felt like home. Sherri and Kevin are very good hosts who make sure that your stay is comfortable. Everyday at breakfast they check and make sure the guests are comfortable and check to see if we need any help. The breakfast served everyday is delicious and well planned with a bowl of fruits, breads/scones and local jams/jellies with a creative entree. We recommend this place for the ambience, service and the location.

The owners create some of the best tasting and most interesting beers my wife and I have ever had. They always have a huge variety, including American, Belgian, and German styles. The Rauch, Triples, and Stouts are true standouts, all made with local ingredients like Central Roasters coffee or in barrels from the local distillery. There is plentiful outdoor seating and they take Covid-19 precautions very seriously. The brewery is only open on weekends, so get there early to get a table!

Delightful B&B! This was our second visit and we love the place. Comfortable rooms, quiet setting, delicious breakfasts and lovely innkeepers. Kevins beer is not to be missed, and he and Sherri make their guests feel at home. The area abounds with excellent restaurants, wineries, and hiking opportunities.

I worked with Sherri to make my reservation for lodging and she was able to schedule a massage therapy session in my room. The room I reserved was not large enough to accommodate a massage table. Sherri assigned a larger room at no additional cost! There were two freshly baked cookies under glass in my room when I arrived. The room was CLEAN! Plenty of parking with a ramp up to the entryway which is great to roll my luggage. She made me feel at home and catered to my every need. The mattress was heavenly, the pillows were just right, and each room has it’s own thermostat controls. There was plenty of hot water and toiletries. There are porches with small cafe tables, rocking chairs and swings with each room assigned with their own porch space. The views from the porch are fantastic and a great place to sit and have your morning coffee. The coffee was great! Not too weak and not too strong. Breakfast was made with a lot of thought using fresh wholesome ingredients and a lot of love. I had whole oat waffles with fresh strawberries and warm syrup, 3 slices of bacon, a plate of fresh fruit, and choice of juice. I was asked if I had any special dietary requests in advance. The dinning room was comfortable and inviting.NOTE: If the online reservation system doesn’t show availability, CALL the Innkeeper’s. When I tried to reserve online, the system said no availability, but Sherri was able to accommodate me.There are restaurants, yoga and a fitness center, with art galleries and gift shops all within walking distance. The inn is located at the base of the Shenandoah National Park Thornton Gap Entance, just a few minutes from the inn.Thank you again, Sherri, for making me feel like more than just another guest! Thank you for going above and beyond my expectations. I look forward to my next visit.

This is a brewery rating, not a b&b rating. I did not stay here. The beer was was delicious, with many styles to choose from. They offer a 9 beer sampler, which I enjoyed on their shaded patio. They have wifi, which is helpful because Verizon coverage in Sperryville is zero.Definitely worth a stop if you are craving a beer in wine country.
