I got a round bale from them in December 2023 for $170, I got home and the entire outside was visibly molded, there’s no way they missed it. Once I wasted about 20% of it, the inside was usable so I didn’t reach out..I went back in January of 2024 to try again, I TOLD them the last one I’d gotten was not great and was told ‘oh yeah we had some bad ones in the batch, had to set some aside as cow hay’. So they were knowingly selling molded hay for $170.I asked if they had a new batch and was told yes, these are better. I got home to discover it was exactly the same, completely obvious mold all around the outside, black mold. (They don’t let you in the store room to see before loading you up). This bale I opened and found the entire bale bad, full of leaves, trash, and obvious mold. I had to coordinate with a friend with cows to get it out of my storage box so I could even have room to get usable hay.. I called them to inform them of this bad bale, was told they’d pass it on to the manager and they’d call me back later that morning. No call, I called them back that afternoon to find they did not tell anyone and essentially started the ‘process’ again, this time asking me to send photos and they’d call back before the day was out. No call, but I did get in contact the following day when they said they would in fact reimburse me, but I had to drive up there with a ‘sample’. I drove up there (it’s a 2 hour round trip for me), only to be told they cannot in fact reimburse me, can only do store credit. I was not told this on the phone and had made the trip out there in my car, so could only get a few squares in the back seat. Overall very disappointed in this business, they’re incredibly overpriced as is, and for them to not even back their products or do the right thing is just morally wrong. I will not be supporting them in the future.

I love the people here they are so helpful and go out of their way to make sure you have the right products for all your animals we have chickens ducks peacocks and a horse days and helped us get in contact with a nutritionist that was very very helpful I can't say thank you enough to the staff at Old Dominion hay.

I purchased my hay September 19th, I called the place and told the employee that I had found bugs in my hay and I was wondering if I could replace it. He told me 'yes I don’t see why it would be a problem' he just had to check with the higher up. Well, I get there to replace the hay for hay without bugs in it. But the lady gave me this whole run around about if it was molded or mildewy that they could take it but because I was the only one complaining about the hay having bugs in it (which this is the first time it’s happened apparently) I was not able to return it. My first complaint ever since I’ve been getting hay from here. She also said because of the time I purchased it is also a reason she couldn’t take it back. Because they don’t know how I handle it or where it was placed at. I had it placed in my garage in a black heavy duty garage bag to make sure nothing got in it and made sure it didn’t get wasted. She pretty much told me the bugs came from where ever I had it located at. I just want to make it clear that I do pest control and I don’t have any bugs in my home due to me treating it monthly. Then she told me they couldn’t take it because of the time frame, remind you, I got it September 19th. they also have a picture all around the building stating that refunds and returns must be within 30 days of purchase date. Which would give me the impression they should’ve taken my BUG FILLED hay back to give me a new one because it’s only been 14 days.The employee that was helping me was helpful and said they should let me exchange it out for a new one but they make big deals out of small things. Anyways please check your hay if you're buying from here. Or just don't purchase from here at all.

Amazing hay! I was only purchasing one bale for my bunny, but they still treated me like I was their only customer! So nice and welcoming. The hay is beautiful, dry and clean. Considering what hay costs in the pet store, this was a steal! My bunny went straight for it.

The best hay in all of southeast Virginia, if not the entire state. I had a hardkeeping TB and their alfalfa x was the only thing to keep him fat. My current horse is on their Timothy orchard square bales and looks great. I am convinced this is the best you can get around. It is not cheap but you get what you pay for...

Only bought six bales and haven’t opened them yet but they are soooo beautiful and so green!! It seemed a little pricey until I got home and realized how heavy the bales were and how tightly they were packed! I could barely lift them! So happy! My rescue horse Mongo thanks you guys❤️
