While I don't live in Smithfield, I visit family there multiple times a year; a stop at this thrift store is always a must!All of the items in this store are organized so well. Books are orderly. Clothing is arranged by size. The items for sale in the store are neat and usable. I don't find things with broken parts or missing buttons unless it is labeled as such. The staff are always so friendly! The prices are very reasonable for someone on a very limited budget. I truly appreciate that.

This was actually my second visit here. It's been at least 3 years. The store is nicely organized and clean. Even the clothes were arranged by size. But don't expect cheap prices. They have increased quite a bit in several things. I've never seen a thrift store price like an antique shop. A bag of dolls was 100.00 $ If anything had a brand on it, the price was tripled. Just beware.

The people that work at the store were great! They helped me/us when we took a large number of items in for donation. We appreciated the extra hands getting boxes and larger items onto the loading dock. Store was clean when we entered and everyone made you feel welcome when coming in. Whether to donate or shop, this was a good place. I would go there again.

The DAV is a large thrift store, it's fairly priced on most items, we have checked out some items in the cases and been surprised by how high they were however. They have a good book section that is VERY well organized, which is so appreciated! You can also get magazines there, I get them for collage art, they're very reasonable! We generally check out the bric-a-brac, toys, and dishes a decent selection of all. It's a must stop, shop for a good cause! The staff has always been nice and welcoming too! I hope the DAV prices don't go up like Goodwill, we've been shocked by the prices there, and sadly have stopped shopping there.

This DAV is one of my favorites in the area. They do an amazing job in their book section! It is so well organized that I feel like I'm in a bookstore. The rest of the store is clean and well organized and the people up front are always helpful and nice. Time and time again, it remains my favorite local stop for thrifting.

One of the best thrift stores around! Staff has always been friendly. Very easy to drop of donations, as well. Only reason I am giving 4 stars is because you aren’t able to try on clothes what to ever, which is difficult when you’re trying to thrift.

Showed up right before 8PM to DONATE items. I will admit I was not aware of their business hours closing at 8. However, the man at the back door was very rude to me, he kept complaining that I showed up when they were closing. I was very turned off. This is what I get for choosing to donate items at your location? All I dropped off was a few small things nothing that should of caused him any trouble. I will donate elsewhere from now on.

DAV always had a good selection of clothing, shoes, knick knacks, etc. The clerks are friendly and welcoming. I do wish they would address the issue with their credit card machines reading cards as expired when they are not. This only happens at the Smithfield and Newport News DAVs, nowhere else.

I shop all the stores in town and love them too, BUT the DAV consistantly has the best deals with the best inventory. There are daily markdowns on everything. The store is always clean & organized and they have dressing rooms! Ive gotten so many great deals there <3

Went today April 24, 2021Hands were full and I set everything on the counter. Cashier removes clothes from the hangers and looks at a couple tags and rang up all the shirts at 4.98 even though one was marked 3.98 - she also charged me for 5 pieces of clothing instead of the 4 I had. Good thing it's for charity I guess. Just pay attention to them as they are ringing you up.I also noticed their clothing prices are getting higher. 9.98 for a used sweater just because it's from the Gap is over priced. Most shirts were 4.98 and above.
