Just passing through and looking for something casual for lunch. Nice, family friendly atmosphere with friendly service and nice lunch. Reasonable prices for a filling meal. The Hot Roast Beef with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy was some of the best roast beef I have had from a roadside diner. The beef was cooked through but retained a great flavor and was quite succulent and tender. The gravy was well seasoned without being over-bearing, while the mash potatoes were home-made and a good consistency. We really enjoyed the meal. Burgers and fries were good, but typical burger and fries.Definitely would consider stopping again, if passing through, to try other menu options, like the pork chop special.

Nice people at this diner. It was busy when I got there, with most all tables filled. She got some good coffee for me pretty quick and an excellent sausage gravy biscuit!I'll agree with the other poster that mentioned this gravy. It was the best I've had in a long time!

I always love the spaghetti. The portion size has went way down on them. Two small servings was $18. Other than that they are always delicious. I see I got a response from the owner, I never said the price increased, but yes the size is smaller.. I was told that before I visited and yes I agree with the other party that ate there, it is smaller than before.

Just one of my favorites. Wish they could stay open later but was told help is hard to get. Food & service are always decent. Sometimes you have to ask for a refill but it's typically because they are busy & not lazy. I love the little place! My one & only issue is that they don't dry off the tables after wiping them down so I ask for napkins to do it myself! :)

Food is always good here. The staff has improved. Some waitresses are better than others. Food can be delayed if they're busy, which is understandable. Too many people go in expecting immediate service when the place is fully packed. Don't be that person.

If you want down home southern cooking, then Hale's is the place you want to go.My favorite breakfast there is sausage gravy with biscuits! Sticks to your ribs.My favorite lunch is a big bowl of pinto beans, topped with raw onions with 2 cornbread muffins on the side. Yummy!My favorite supper is roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy with a side of green beans! Oh, momma!This is like walking into your Granny's or Mom's kitchen for Sunday breakfast, lunch, or supper.They have to close at 2pm now because COVID has kept some people from wanting to work nowadays.

This place has "The Best" Biscuit and Gravy - Western Omelette On the East Coast!! I have ate those two Items at hundreds of places and they have not come close to this place, Those biscuits are hand made fluffy with an amazing taste! The Omelette was the freshest best tasting I ever had! Great staff topped it off!!

Hales is open again for breakfast and lunch only. The food is as it always has been, GREAT! But even better are the staff, it's truly like visiting friends or family and having a meal while there. So glad they're back, if you want to know what it was like to have good food, great service like the ole days go in have a seat and just watch and listen while you eat.

I have drove past this restaurant for years, curious about going in. That changed until a friend let me try the biscuit and gravy they got to go from there. Was the best I had ever had. And I'm a sausage gravy fanatic. Since then we visit Hale's regularly. Whether it's to dine in, or to go, the food is delicious and the service is great!

There were 3 of us. The cheeseburger and fries were good. The vegetable plate was ok. The green beans were cold and lacked flavor. The portions seemed small for the cost.the hot roast beef sandwich was ok. The beef was a little tough and didn't have much flavor. The waitress gave us the check with our food and never came back.

I love Hal's. Their fried green tomato's are some of the best, their staff is always super friendly and very willing to go that extra mile to make a great dining experience. We try to go their at least every other week but sometimes we just get carryout. Relaxed environment, clean, great food and family friendly.....hits all the check marks for me!

I'm local and understand this place has a cult following, but I'll never understand it. I had roast beef that I didn't eat because it didn't taste good. For the price we paid, we felt the portions were small. The biscuits were truly delicious, though, so that's something.

A historic restaurant. Been around since I was a kid. Love the home style vibe and if you eat inside it's great. The food doesn't stand well for take out. It's ready quick so if you call in an order......be there quick to pick up to be sure it's hot. You don't get many fries with your food. A bit expensive for what you get. Can honestly cook the same quality at home cheaper. If you like food and music they have music nights but be ready for banjo type country vibe/gospel

Service is great, food is country, tables are clean. Fried pickles are good, beans & chili are simple, grilled cheese with tomato and onion is nothing special. Find place to eat as long as you know it's country cooking.

It was the first time my girlfriend and I had eaten there, as we had been wanting to try it out. We had a great breakfast and the service there was right on time. We would highly recommend this cozy little restaurant to everyone and we look forward to going back there soon.

A staple of Eastern Montgomery County for over 50 years it's nothing fancy. Some dishes are better than others but it's reliably good simple food.Vegetarian options: Vegetables plate & salad.Kid-friendliness: Good place for families.

Today I had planned on a salad from Subway for lunch. I was asked if I'd like to get something from Hale's. I decided why not so I had her order me a grilled chicken salad. It would save me a trip out, I hate leaving work for lunch. When I get it, there is no dressing. Her 5 oz piece of pork chop looked like it was paper thin and about the size of my palm. I get the size part, but not the paper thin part, no way could that have been a proper 5 oz portion. Had we gone to actually eat there, and they brought that out on a plate to serve her, I would have refused the dishes and left. For an $8.00 entree and $8.00 salad I am completely appalled. I'm a local resident and had been wanting to take my family there for dinner for some time now. That will not ever happen. I will also drive the extra mile or two past Hale's to the Subway for lunch breaks. Extremely disappointed to have to eat a dry salad, and no time to go back out to get what I should have already been given.

Hales Restaurant has great food and dress is casual. Staff and servers treat you like family. This is so popular that parking is sometimes hard to find.
