Great little unexpected gem.. You must try an order of the fresh,, steamed shrimp. Owner is friendly and helpful. If you're going for bait,, he will help you find the best options for what you're fishing for.

My husband & I stopped in here on September 5th, 2015 and it was amazing!!! 🍤🦀🍴😋❤❤❤ We ordered salmon and crab cakes, shrimp and crab to go and they were all amazing!!! At the time we were truck drivers and we traveled all over and tried some of the best restaurants in the world. We are no longer trucking so we don't have the luxury of stopping in to eat at this place anymore 😢. I would so love to have the recipe for their salmon and crab cakes!!!

Best tuna and chicken salad ever. Those who gave this establishment a 1 are being too harsh. Keepers is a bate store in an area that has little to offer in the food service industry and we are blessed to have it. Rodney is a little quirky and quiet but a great person and nice guy.

Friendly service and great conversation! Ordered 3 dozen steamed crabs - OMG! Delicious, heavy and sweet crab meat!! Thank you for the wonderful Crabs! Reasonably priced. Quaint place. We will definitely stop by when in that part of Virginia!

I called and ordered a bushel of crabs the day before July 4th (spoke to the owner). I went in to pick them up the next day and was told by the owner (the same person I placed the order with) that he didn’t have any. Not only that, but he was extremely rude about it and offered no apology. Being a holiday, no one else had any crabs and I had to go to an event empty-handed! He also had a sign advertising “Steamed Crabs” roadside. As a local, I am sad to say that I will no longer be doing business with Keepers. It’s J & W only from now on!

Stopped by to purchase squid, as Food Lion was sold out. The owner was so rude! Told me $4.50 today, $5.00 the next time. Mister, their will be NO NEXT TIME! Suppose this may be why this place is a ghost town. Maybe if this guy was a bit pleasant, he would not have a dead business. Think may be a good time to shut the place down and count your losses. Won't be back and suggest the same to all...

I asked for bate shrimp he opens up a bag of cooking shrimp weighs out a pound in the styrofoam and charges me $11 for a pound of bait

It would have been 5 stars but the owner is on the strange side, as many reviewers have said. Good food, nice selection of fishing gear and bait, and prices aren't bad for a small business

Owner was a jerk. Stopped in the empty parking lot to make an emergency phone call. Owner comes out and says take my business elsewhere. 10 out of 10 would NOT recommend.

From seeing a previous bad review it saddens me. If you're a hoity toity uptight person you probably wont like and understand this place. I'm not from around here and the owner was very helpful and very kind. If you don't know how to talk to or read people that's why you perceived him as rude. He's not rude. You're probably rude.

We arrived at Keepers around 4:10 am, no one was there so we sat and waited. About 5 min or so went by and a truck pulled up with the lights pointing directly at us and just sat there, finally the owner said we were parked in his spot and needed to move. (RUDE). So, we left.

The food here is great, the dude who owns it, not so much. But if you want some steamed shrimp and tuna salad, this is the place to be.

Me and a group of guys always stop there to get our bait about 3 to 4 times a year for the past two years and I believe it's a great hole-in-the-wall shop for your bait but just watch out for those Wildcats in the front! :)
