This place is a hidden gem! We had someone recommend we get lunch here, and it was the freshest Club Sandwich I’ve ever eaten (our kids also loved their hot dogs!)But it was even more than that! Dried fruit and nuts, baking supplies, a small selection of produce, baked goods, jams, sugarcane sodas, high quality kids toys (think Melissa and Doug) and an ice cream parlor which uses local milk and cream!Tip for pilots: If you’re flying into Mountain Empire Airport, call Brian ahead of time and let him know you want to use the courtesy car. It takes just three minutes to get here from the airport and it is a delightful lunch break while your plane is getting fueled! 👍🏻 we even picked up some dried fruit and nuts for some in-flight snacks! 💙

Need a break while traveling I-81? Tired of fast food? Off exit 60 is a well kept secret. This store offers home made bread and pastries. This Minoritie operated store offers made-to-order sandwiches, just like home! Forget fast food! Homemade ice cream and treats. FRIENDLY! Eat on the porch or take out.While you are at it, get your deli meats and cheese. Enjoy!

Have no idea where I am but turned off the highway to take a break from gridlock and found this gem. Could spend a few hours just looking at all the grocery items and baking supplies. Got a delicious Reuben and filled my grocery cart with fun stuff.

The Dutch Pantry is a great place to visit. Great food and candies, jellies, a great variety of items to choose from. To much to list in this review. Just a trip and see for yourself. Very clean and friendly staff. The whoopie pie was so good!

First visit to the Dutch Pantry - reminds me a lot of the Mennonite store I grew up going to on summer vacations in PA. If you're looking for affordable spices, baking supplies, and a row of bulk candy that will take you on a trip down memory lane, then look no further. Ice cream is also quite reasonable. Staff were wearing masks.

We got off on this exit for the Mexican restaurant for lunch down the road but as we passed the Dutch pantry is was busy outside and I looked up what this place was on goggle and had great reviews and it mentioned they had sandwiches. Needless to say but we turned around and had an excellent lunch. My daughter had a burger and my husband me and my son all had sandwiches and they were great!We also bought some sweet goodies while we were here. So worth the stop! Yumm! Thanks guys!

The cutest store! My family and I are on a road trip and stopped here for some milk for our child. We had the best time walking around and got several items. My son loved pushing around the kid grocery cart.

Found out about this place from a FB post...passing by on I-81 we had to stop. Wish I had a place like this closer to home. Did some browsing but lunch was our priority.The deli is well stocked and the choices too numerous to count. Busy Monday lunch crowd but our order was quick, correct and fresh.Club sandwich on toasted sourdough bread was piled high with everything you expect in a club.The Vern is a smoked turkey, provolone, pickled peppers and letuce and onions and mayo and i think a dressing...i chose the Jalapeno/cheddar tortilla wrap. Grilled and so tasty. we picked up some pickled beets and chips and a cold soda and ate in the sunshine outside.if you are driving I-81 worth the 2 minutes off the interstate to check it out. If you are local, count this place as a blessing.

Great store. We buy our popcorn, pickles, cookbooks jellies here. Haven't tried the food which comes very highly recommended. Local police eat there so it has to be good

Our family learned to enjoy this quaint store back a few years ago when our daughter and her husband moved to the area for school. I brought home jalapeño sourdough bread this time. My wife got the pumpkin bread. Delicious!!

Love this store!! They have great deals on deli meat. They carry every spice you can think of. Now they carry the Trim Healthy Mama brand. I buy my coca powder in bulk there. Great staff they are always friendly. Even if there is a crowd in the store. Great prices. They do carry canning supplies.

A very nice lunch. Delicious deli sandwiches at an extremely reasonable price. Neat decor, basically a country store motif. Great selection of hand crafted items. Definitely worth a stop.

First time stopping at The Dutch Pantry and won't be the last! Beautiful deli with cheap, high quality, enormous sandwiches and an ice cream parlor on site. Plus, you can stock up on pantry items, baked goods, kitchen tools, and all sorts of jams, jellies, and canned goods. Fun and filling!Here's my hearty Ann's Italian sandwich on toasted rye for $6.49. Wow!

Loved it, Although I was disheartened by my last visit. I made a special trip a 45 min drive to get there. Walked in wrote my order down and was told sorry we're closed but clearly the doors were open and there was still 10 full mins according to your store I wasn't asking for a cooked meal just a pound cheese in two varieties and pound of ham . Owners should either allocate time after closing to clean up or what have you so your store hours will reflect the hours you can serve people.

If you pass by the Dutch pantry, you must go in. They have some of the best snack mixes and trail mixes that I have ever had. Especially the s'mores snack mix. It is out-of-this-world delicious even if you don't like s'mores.

A food lovers paradise! The Dutch Pantry has everything!! Spices, homemade breads, jams, jellies, cakes, pies! We had lunch while there and it was delicious! If you are on 81 and get a chance, stop by and just see for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

This place is AMAZING. We stop anytime we get down that way on 81. Delicious sandwiches and ice cream if you just need a quick bite. Excellent prices on deli meat and cheese. An unreal selection of seasonings, candies, jams, breads, etc. they also carry dairy goods from a local dairy farm. I’ve yet to score some of their cinnamon rolls but I hear they are absolutely divine, so grab them if you see them!!!

I love this store! I always buy my deli meats and cheeses here. They are fresh and great tasting. I love the brands too.I buy their homemade sourdough bread and have it sliced while I am there too.They make the BEST sandwiches around and they have every spice u can think of! Nice selection of everything they carry. The staff is always courteous and helpful. I highly recommend this Amish Store to residents and travelers alike, since it is right off the Interstate exit in Rural Retreat, VA.

So this place is pretty awesome but I cannot understand why when you request extra Russian dressing on the Rueben sandwich- it NEVER EVER happens! I guess next time due to numerous failed requests- I will just ask to “buy” a cup of dressing -and put it on myself which isn’t convenient. Please honor your customers request. Thanks!

Absolutely delicious food! Ordered 2 turkey sandwiches on sourdough, 1 turkey wrap (all 3 packed full of meat), and a cheeseburger (per our son's hungry belly request). Very friendly staff and customers! One man showed us how to order on the sheets of paper, since we've never been before, and showed us the other goodies he was buying. We bought 2 dips were looking forward to making, and I enjoyed looking at everything for sale. If we weren't on a time crunch, then I would've bought more! Great spot to stop on a road trip!! 🚗💨

Great food and ice cream. This is a must stop if you are traveling through Wythe County.My only complaint is that I wish that had actual hamburger buns. Their BBQ is awesome but I don't want to eat it on a piece of wheat/white bread....it just falls apart. But whatever, obviously it's not that big of a deal if I'm still giving 5 stars.
