Appreciated the friendly, helpful service when looking for a heated shelter for a stray cat who has decided to stay at our house during these cold nights. Little more pricy than similar products online but we felt better that we could take care of our guest right away rather than waiting. Our first time in, but it looked like a good selection of pet products throughout the store.

Great service to have in rocky mount! Friendly employees too. Some of the prices are fine, but some are higher end/ too expensive for me! Still, I like having this place for my basic pet needs.

Well to start off..Heather is Amazing! My little Miss Kitty had a very bad grooming experience at a different location. I brought her here in hopes she would be better taken care of. When I called and explained my situation. They had me bring her in to meet Heather before setting a grooming date. They got along greatI would recommend Berkley to anyone. The staff is caring and so nice they have all the pet supplies you need. Thank You Berkley for the Fantastic treatment.

First let me say the store is amazing, I've shopped there many times and I will give them 5 stars for a huge variety of quality products.Now as for the groomer who gave my poor dog a Mohawk I will say this, she did not listen when I told her not to touch his face just clean up around his eyes Only! Clean underneath and trim his legs Only! I had trimmed his back it was fine and curly not matted at all, ran a brush through it before we left soo the shave down was totally unnecessary!! Yes, I told her it was his first grooming so he would be like a bb in a box car. I am a professional groomer but I have been very ill and will have a Craniectomy in the next 2 weeks otherwise I would've done it myself. She did not bother to brush him she just went clipping away and did a terrible job at that it is choppy and uneven. When I saw him I was shocked, she said she "forgot" and then said he had discipline problems ( was she expecting tricks, from a frightened puppy) excuse after excuse. We knew he wasn't going to just sit there.. c'mon! We weren't charged but money is not an issue here. The fact that she didn't do what the customer asked is and to be arrogant about it is. Not sure what kind of shampoo was used because he smells like wet dog! Spoke with the owner today since she wouldn't return my call, I called back. She feels gratified that she didn't charge, it's not about the money!!! On a professional standpoint I would've said let another groomer even him out pretty much what a Hair Salon would do. But that's a moot point now. Bottom line the groomer didn't like that Bijou was frightened by his first groom and he was more trouble that dogs that are used to being groomed, she was irritated and she just shaved him down. No patience and a bad attitude and I was greeted with pursed lips before I told her off! My daughter in law gave her 10 bucks only to show my granddaughter just because other people are ugly it doesn't mean we have to be. That young lady needs to learn to be more professional and lose that ugly attitude especially towards an animal.

I love this place, I just came here for my second time and the service is amazing. I have a big dog but he’s a scared of everything so when an employee tried to pet him and he barked and backed up she gave him lots of space and didn’t try to force it. The store has a wide range of treats, toys, brushes, harnesses and leashes. If your in the area I highly recommend this store!!

Barkleys Pet Market has a great supply of dog food, treats, toys, etc! My dogs love their treats. People are nice and welcoming. Had our husky poo groomed and they did a wonderful job.

The ladies who were in there the evening I needed a battery for my dog collar were very friendly and helpful. The store is very well stocked and even has a self serve pet bath in the rear! Prices were very competitive as well, in fact my batteries were cheaper than at Tractor Supply.

I came in to wash my dog in the do it yourself wash. I had not even gotten the chance to wash my dog and was told that I could not use the dryer on my dog because she is too hairy. I spent 5 minutes using the dryer before I was told this.I was told to clean everything up and told that I was not allowed to finish the wash. I was still charged for the service even though I was not able to use it at all. $15…Quote: “We do not want the hair in our store it will get on our products.”I’ve been to plenty of dog washes before. In stores similar to this one…I clean up after myself…but I’ve never been kicked out of a store for my dog having too much hair.I was told that they would be happy to groom my dog for me. The whole point of a do-it-yourself wash is so that I can literally do it myself…Pretty sure that they just wanted the money for grooming.I won’t be back to a place that steals money. If you have a dog that sheds at all don’t even try to wash it here because they will charge you and kick you out.If there are stipulations to what kind of dog can be washed that should be posted and perhaps your front counter associate shouldn’t allow someone to proceed with a wash if you deem the dog to be “too hairy”. So sorry I don’t have a poodle.

They have a nicely curated selection of pet and wild bird feeding supplies, but what we like best about it is the two self-serve dog washing stations. For a really reasonable price, they provide shampoo, scrubbers, blow dryer, and a professional-style deep tub with stairs that make it easier to get your dog up into it. The tub is in a small area with a sturdy gate. (Bring a towel if you aren't sure how your dog will handle the blow dryer though.) It's so much easier than using the tub at home, and we don't have to worry about dog hair clogging the drain. Worth every penny.

Outstanding ownership, knowledgeable about the productsyet no condescending if you do not purchase the most expensive products. I arrived a hour before the scheduled opening time ,knocked on the door and the owner opened the store and allowed my purchases, how's that for customer service? Highly recommend this store, great selection of products for all kinds of animals, pet grooming, bathing. Say hello to the wonderful young African Grey Parrot. Great store in Rocky Mount.

I live in Roanoke & this place is worth the drive to Rocky Mount. They offer a WONDERFUL selection of EVERYTHING your 4-Legged Friends could ever need (even a do it yourself salon). Helpful, Friendly Staff make shopping there fun.

When I went in, I did not see any employees for few minutes. When an employee did come out of the back room, she was friendly. The groomer came out a few minutes later and was very warm in welcoming my dog. She took her time in grooming my dog and followed directions very closely. I was glad to see that there were multiple customers in the store; I hope they stay in business for a long time.

Today was my second visit to Barkley's and my last. My first visit I got no acknowledgement whatsoever from anyone upon entering the store, while shopping or paying, I wanted to give it another shot as Barkley's is the only store in the area that carries my dogs brand of food. Employees Adam and Alexis need more training in customer service, neither of them greeted me when paying today nor did they thank me for my business. I had to initiate by asking them how they were doing, no response at all from Adam and Alexis just replied with "busy" I really wanted to support the local business but will be ordering online going forward.

Absolutely love this place! I'm from the Roanoke area and was in Rocky Mount for business. So this was only supposed to be a quick "kill some time" type of stop, well I ended up spending $111 lol..... The employees, especially the gentleman, were all welcoming, very polite & helpful and extremely knowledgeable on their products. They were also honest about their opinions on certain toys for the size of my dog, if it was something he thought my dog would destroy he wasn't afraid to tell me. I personally really appreciated that. Hopefully you guys can bring one to the Roanoke/Troutville area in the near future. I would gladly become a regular. Until then I will definitely be back. Thanks Barkley's, keep up the great work!

I took my dog in for a nail clipping. Discovered they have a dog wash that I could do for only $10! They supplied the shampoo, towels and fur dryer. Even an apron to keep dry! The tub was the perfect height to prevent a back ache and had stairs for the dog to climb in and out if needed. They also sell just the right amount of pet supplies. I bought a fluffy dog bed that was better priced than Amazon and several dog and cat toys reasonably priced. Very pleasantly surprised. I'll be back, definitely!!

We love the personal experience we get from these folks. Our mature pup has changing dietary needs, and the staff was so helpful in making the decision about which food and supplements she needs. Her coat and skin are so soft and clean now! Her last vet visit was great. She has a history of pancreatitis, so we have to be super careful what we feed her. With our vet's advice and Barkley's staff's guidance, our 11 year old Gracie is doing so much better.

I love this store and I am so glad they opened up in Rocky Mount. Super staff (and Mr. Grey) brighten your day as soon as you walk in. They have a large variety of pet supplies and treats. I didn't notice the last time I left that the sale associate had given me some sample treat. When I got home, my super picker eaters devoured them! This simple act of kindness gained a loyal customer.

It was my first time here, and boy was I suprised at all they had to offer. It was far better with quality than that of other pet stores. They even have a station in the back of the store where you can wash your dog! We will definitely be back here for all of our pet care needs!

Lovely one stop pet supply shop!!!!!Having a "small zoo" myself 😉 of 9 rescue parrots, 5 dogs and a cat... having a convenient "one stop shop" is VITAL!The store itself is fantastic but the owners are even better! I've found them to be VERY accommodating, knowledgeable and helpful in nearly all of my animal situations! From helping me ensure my dogs are fed properly according to their allergies and needs to making sure I have toys tough enough to handle large, destructive parrots all within arms reach has been a huge game changer! Their selection of inventory in my opinion blows big box stores out of the water based on their personalized selection aimed towards their customers needs.Thank you Barkleys for being my one stop shop!
