I was told by SPCA staff that I could bring a kitten I had found for an intake. When I arrived at the facility, I was met at the door and told that they could not take “all strays” and was advised to put the kitten back out in the neighborhood it was found in. It will be in the 30s tomorrow. How disappointing.

We just adopted our 2nd dog from here. The process was great with very knowledgeable and professional staff that work with all the animals that come through for adoption.

This is a no-kill shelter where many cats and dogs are available for adoption. The employees are very friendly, and can help you choose your new four-legged friend based on your preferences. It is a great place to volunteer as well.

I adopted my baby boy here a few months ago. I had had trouble adopting earlier due to some having age requirements, and as an 18 year old, when they say I can't adopt until I'm 21, my heart sank. The Roanoke Valley SPCA let me adopt at 18, and gave me lots of information on my little guys' background, and history. They also provided me with chip information and signing him up for a lost pets website, and even gave me a $200 off visit to a local vets to get him checked up after adoption. They treated him and myself with the best of care, and were so excited to see a little one adopted. Being able to adopt my Jack was one of the best things that has happened to me, and I am so glad I was able to get him from the Roanoke SPCA.

Slow customer service even with appointment. Their internet was down and the staff member using a laptop didn't know how software package works. She needed a lot of help. However staff was courteous. They forgot to give me the rabies certificate for my pet.

The people here seem like they don't want the animals to be adopted and are making people that adopt animals very difficult I'm a long time dog owner I had my 2 dogs for 17 years and I feel insulted that they was wanting so many requirements for me. just to adopt a dog I believe they did today they kept a dog from finding a home. They wanted to to this process into a week long event seem to be about the financial gain the the animals finding homes

The staff member stated she could not let the dog off leash. Therefore we could not determine if our dog would take to the new pup. All 3 of the dogs we were shown are still available...one week later. I don't believe the way the meet & greet is currently set up is working. By the way, we adopted our current pup from here Sept 1, 2019 and we got to pick him out. That may be the way to do it again.

The facility is really clean looking, i cane to adopt a dog i participated in the meet and greet withy daughter everything seemed ok. When asked if i had questions i responded with does this dog bite? Is she good with small children i was told yes. The dog played in the yard once getting her home everything seemed ok. The dog then bit my hand and legs very hard. Not a mouthing bite but a full on bite puncturing my skin. I went inside with her then decided to give her another chance as she could have been overwhelmed. Over the next 3 to 4 days the dog began to bark at my 4 year old and lunging at her crate she bit my daughter on the heels several times luckily my daughter had on boots. I called the aspca to return the dog, they stated they would take her amd have to reassess her for behaviors. I did not gety full refund only a partial.

I tried to come here to adopted and they showed me one dog and said I need to decide which one I want before I can see anymore. Which is ridiculous when I’m not going to adopted a dog without interacting with them first. Some of the workers were helpful. But some of them were very snobby and couldn’t answer questions. Will not be coming back for adoption nor do I recommend for someone trying to adoption.

Had a great adoption experience. Made an appointment and worked with Maddie to find the right cat for us. The facility was clean and we were happy that they were actively trying to help another shelter that was full. We were not rushed and our questions were answered. Got a great kitten who was already neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Highly recommend.

RSPCA is absolutely fantastic, I've been there multiple times. They are so very patient, kind, and compassionate. The employees are incredible. I adopted a little kitten named Waffle and love her dearly. She is the sweetest little kitten and I am blessed to have her.

I thought when I filled out all of those papers II would be able to go back and at least look at the dogs they had There but instead we walked through the lobby door and that was as far as we could go. The main door to the building was locked and we had to talk to the people inside through a plated window. They said

We had our dog run off chasing deer one night and thankfully we were able to get her back the very next day because of some good people, and without the Roanoke Valley SPCA we have no idea what would have happened to her. Not only have they taken care of our baby during that rough time, but they have kept a countless number of others safe and healthy while trying to find forever homes for each and every one. We recently rescued 2 more and the people who work and volunteer here are very kind and caring to all the animals and people alike.

We adopted our puppy Copper from here last week. The entire adoption process took less than an hour and they were EXTREMELY helpful being we are first time dog owners. They gave us several advice tips, booklets/pamphlets and gave us everything we needed to take him home! They have called to check up on us and everything. Their facility is extremely well kept and clean and all of the animals looked healthy and very well cared for. Their volunteers and staff were also knowledge, sweet and trained well! Would highly recommend this shelter. ❤

Great shelter to foster dogs at. All of them have their shots and are incredibly cute. When i visited i also got to see the cats in the cat room. All of them were very sweet and lovable. Instantly came up to the gate asking to be pet. My favorite part of my visit was the free roaming cat room where i got to pet and hold 2 kittens

I was trying to find a solution to some cat drama around my house that was really important to me. I called several places and no one would engage in a meaningful conversation with me about solutions to my problem UNTIL I called the Roanoke Valley SPCA and spoke with Ruth Pearson who really cared about my situation and genuinely wanted to help! I can't tell you how much it meant to me! Thank YOU!

Beyond impressed with the service, attention, and quality of care at this facility. I went down just to browse the animals and see what sort of dogs were available. I ended up adopting a little fella on the spot. He is unrealistically well-behaved, friendly, and healthy. The entire package was remarkably affordable, the staff were fantastic, and clearly the treatment of the animals is top-notch because I am in awe of my new puppy's adjustment at only 6 months old.He also came neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his shots. When I called in to inquire about a follow-up on his surgery, Doris was exceptionally prompt and forthcoming, offering a thoughtful and efficient means of helping me out at no cost. I'm so glad places like this exist, and would encourage anyone to adopt or foster from RVSPCA.

It looked like a great organization, i even tried signing up for their volunteer program. Not only did they take money away, but i haven’t heard a single thing back. I tried waiting, and still haven’t received a thing.

Brought my family up to come adopt a pet. They said they changed over to no walk throughs and only appointments. They said they were busy but no one there and only 1 car in the parking lot. They only do one appt per hour for the whole hour. Seems like they don’t want the pets to get adopted.

Went down for one boy and came home with a girl. A love bug and a big lap dog. She slept beside of me for several hours once she settled down. The group of volunteers were great and very good with the animals. I saw a lot of dogs go to homes which is bery heartwarming.
