Suzanne in the deli makes the BEST pizza. All of the employees at this location are fantastic. The hot bar and salad bar are spot on delicious.EDIT: Crystal in the deli is now tied with Suzanne for making the BEST pizza! And I lived in Manhattan for years so I'm no pizza push-over. The pepperoni is the same price as the cheese ($5.19) but the cheese is fire!

This is a superbly run cooperative, a fun place to visit and the best deal around on a great salad bar. You don’t need to be a member to shop or dine here. There are so many thoughtful touches throughout. The magnifying glass on a string in the supplements section delighted the heart of this near sighted senior (last photo).

Revised 02/14/2022Great little full service market in Grandin Village. Firstly, the parking, including accessible slots, is along the building's side, a few steps outside the door - fantastic! The bulk spices, teas and dried herbs are better and less expensive than anything available in the usual small supermarket boxes. Box items like macaroni and cheese are similar to those sold in large grocery stores. However, diligent perusal of shelves shows, much to my delight, items like macaroni with pumpkin and sweet potatoes. For me, the highlight of a shopping trip to the Co-Op s the tiny bakery section at the rear of the stores. The area around the bakery has recently been converted to a hot dish and salad bar. Items are available by scale weight for eat-in at the front of the store or take-out. The bakery still carries everything from delicious bread to sweets like scones and cookies. The Co-Op also carries a good assortment of standard grocery-store fare, most of what is available on any given day, is organic and some portion may be GMO. ***I am happy to say that my recent shopping visit to the Co-Op showed radical changes in the Produce section. My attached photos show that leafy Greens are now under an intermittent sprinkler system that keeps them dewy fresh. Other highly perishable items are displayed on refrigerated shelves. Root veggies and and fruits with thick skins like apples and citrus are attractively and enticingly displayed. Floral bouquets showed some improvement, but quality is still lacking for the price charged.

We buy almost all of our groceries here at this point. Prices are higher on some items but the quality is far better and more local than what they sell at Kroger. We should all be doing our part do dismantle corporatized agriculture

The male cashier wearing lipstick has caused me to shop elsewhere, and I know I'm not the only one. I don't need to see that flaunted in a grocery store.

Love the Co+op. Little pricey, but you get what you pay for. The fruit and vegetable selection is amazing. Definitely check the sales

I can't believe it's taken me so long to go to the co+op since moving to Roanoke. I moved here from Charlottesville and it's like an updated and modern Integral Yoga Natural Foods (which I love and used to work at)I'm so excited to know they have a water bottle refill station for my 5 gallon jugs. They're open until 10 every day and every employee I happened to come into contact with was wonderfully helpful and kind. Good people and good food! Can't wait to go back work my empty spice jars to fill them up from the bulk containers!

Used to love shopping here but twice I have been rudely spoken to by the tall man with curly blonde hair because I have a service dog. He is clearly wearing red that says SERVICE DOG and he has asked me both times and had an attitude about it.

This place simply stays great. I can’t explain it but for the enduring spirit and efforts of the staff and the community.

I love browsing through the co-op and some terrific finds at times! Nice food/salad and smoothie bar too. Bulk dry items and spices although trimmed down I suppose due to supply shortages. Watch for Flash sales too, avocados on special every Thursday (hope that’s right). Enjoyable shopping experience and the customer service is top notch every time!

I am a member and continue to be impressed by the customer service. Staff are always friendly and they care about customer feedback. I got home one day realizing it seemed like I paid more than I should have. I called to discuss it and learned an item had been mispriced accidentally. They immediately credited me the difference.

So great to have a store with so many varieties of Organic and NON GMO foods. Love this place. Always clean, and they have the best produce bags. I know that sounds silly, but they're amazing and of good quality. They also sell organic heirloom seeds, and lots of organic herbs and oils.

So we found this little place, that has the high quality brands and is very health conscious type of spot. They also have a great selection of bulk food. Small but good stuff.

The deli food is awful. Everything I got was cold and bland. But the seating by the front windows is nice. The staff is always nice. The grocery prices are expensive but they stock some unusual items you can’t get elsewhere locally.

I think people assume that this store is going to be more expensive because of the location. If you typically buy higher quality groceries then it really isn't. If you don't try to buy organic or local you might be disappointed. The produce is consistently of better quality than the major chains, especially the fruit/berries. We don't live near Grandin but we like to shop here when we're in the area to grab some fresh fruit and a few specialty items.

High quality products and friendly staff. Owners get good discounts. Their hot bar is consistently excellent, as is their selection of ready-made food. They get bread from Breadcraft daily.

Nice variety of items, hot and cold meals. Eating area seems to double as storage. Don't offer exchange benefits to members of other co-ops.

Great selection of foods, especially for specialty diets (vegan/gluten free) with a large bulk section. Fresh breads are delicious! Nice variety of natural supplements and toiletries. I appreciated the parking. Staff was nice. Parking attendant/security guard was super friendly.

Definitely a five-star place to shop, I only knocked a star off because you guys really need to expand and have a location maybe over in Salem? It's just so difficult from people like me who live out in Craig county and other areas to get over to that part of town. I'm a full member but this place is literally an hour from my house. So I hardly ever go. The convenience store on the market is still too far and difficult.

Was passing through town on business and ate at the salad bar/hot bar twice and grabbed some other foods. The corn and bean salad, sweet potato curry, and chickpea wrap were all amazing amazing.

Always a positive experience! Great place to find safe food and the staff is always so friendly! Also wanted to give a shout out to the gentleman that monitors parking at the co-op. He is so pleasant and also very vigilant about helping people get in and out of parking spots. I witnessed him prevent a fender bender in the lot this evening. If he hadn't stepped in and stopped one of the cars, they definitely would have hit. After preventing the accident, he was polite and professional with both drivers. He is a true asset to the co-op!
