I cannot say enough about this store or the employees that work here. Stoped by here this evening to buy battery for my car remote entry key fob. I ended up buying the wrong battery. The service desk folks helped me figure it out and were so sweet in the process. You guys are the absolute best. Thank you so much!!!💕

I usually don't visit this Food Lion as there are 2 others I frequent but I needed something before I do my usual shopping and stopped by. I was able to find the thing I needed along with a few other items. The staff were friendly and things were stocked.

Best grocery store in Roanoke. No self check out machines :) and good employees. Not a fan of other food lions, but this one is literally the best store in all of Roanoke. Store manager is awesome and she goes out of her way to make you feel welcome with custom family recipes during the holidays. Meat prices are usually unbeatable! Produce is good, I can’t get fennel with decent size bases anywhere else for close to the price they sell it at.It’s almost never too crowded like Kroger so you can avoid all the in-a-rush fancy suv/minivan moms and grandmas that shop at the Kroger closer to my house off brambleton ;) and the check outlines are FAST. I bring my toddler here regularly and she pushes the kid carts. It’s a great place to give her chores (under supervision of course)THE ONLY REASON I DONT WANT TO GIVE THEM 5 STARS… is I don’t want more people to start shopping here ;) but they have been constantly amazing for us now for 2 years so… thank your food lion and amazing staff.

On September 21, 2023 I went to Food Lion grocery store to purchase items amounting to over $1000.00 I was using 2 master card gift cards and cash to complete my transaction. The first gift and cash was processed, however the second gift card malfunctioned and was eventually blocked for 24hrs. The store clerk had to cancel the whole transaction including the portion of the first gift card that was already processed.This gift card now had zero dollars after the transaction was cancelled. The store clerk (who is also a supervisor) said to give it a few minutes to see if the money ($500) would return to the card, it did not. He told me that he would give me the money order of $500 on Friday if the gift card balance was still zero balance.On Friday (September 22nd), I returned to the store and presented the gift card that was still zero balance, however this time he said to give it until Monday, I called the toll free number on the back of the card to speak with a supervisor who confirmed that the card balance is still zero and there is no pending refund on the card. I did not go to the store again until Wednesday September 28, 2023. I spoke with Michael the store Manager who told me he was aware of the situation with the gift card. He called the toll free number on the card and confirmed that the balance was zero and that the only transaction on the card was the food Lion transaction of $500. He did not want to refund my $500.00 he said he would have to speak with the account clerk and Kathy another store manager. He kept on saying that the receipt is showing refunded, however I learned recently that money cannot be refunded to a gift card, that transaction would automatically fail, hence they can see that it had failed in their system but they are still holding on to my money.

I love shopping at the Tanglewood Food Lion, except for a few things and I truly hope a manager or someone higher up reads. Their dessert shelves only seem to focus on cookies and cupcakes. For example, they used to always have stuffed chocolate chip cookies white icing inside and covered in sprinkles n such. Also a box with 3 brownies inside iced with cream cheese, chocolate or reese's. No matter what time of day I went they never had them. 3 wks ago after work they had 1 box of the stuffed cookie. I grabbed n ran. Wouldn't you think the shelves would be stocked and ready to go 1st thing in the am ? And restocked thruout the day ? It's so VERY FRUSTRATING. And believe me I am not the only one. We work close by at Carilion Family Medicine on Colonial Ave. I wanted a Ukrops chocolate fudge pie to take to family Saturday, there were none out. I asked a rep checking out the rotisserie chicken stand if there were any in the back. She very happily said she would check n came out with one. So happy ! I don't know if the items I mentioned are made there or brought in from outside the store. I always have to go to Kroger which I don't care for to get the stuffed cookies. Also Bubblecake has them, but they are expensive. Please, please someone check into this and come up with a solution. Thank you

Really disappointed the fresh vegetables are wilted and spoiling before they've even left the store because of over watering and being to cold and frozen leading to rotting from the inside out. I use to rely on always having fresh crisp vegetable before these last 3 yrs it's just seems to being going downhill even though their prices are still going up. For petes sake even the so called "fresh eggs" seem to be frozen. A cucumber just yesterday I brought home when I cut into it...it was frozen inside. A carrot stick literally slumpt over in my hand, lettuce sitting in bags of slimey water, surely there is a health issue to this maybe having bacteria. At least they've got the fly issue until control. I would rather pay a fair price for fresh produce then passing off spoiling produce at the unfair prices they are now, for shame on quality.

A simple shopping trip today for a couple of items. I was greeted by an employee, and got a cart. I easily found the products I wanted, the price ma were about average for this area, and check out was easy and executed by a smiling female employee. This is an easy to navigate the store, with excellent over head easy to read signage. Took me right to the products I desired. Fast efficient service by attentive employees, good selection, and clean, nicely organized.

Im not a big fan of food lion. I grew up with one the products were mostly damaged or spoiled. However it seems food lipn has gotten a bit better. The produce is better than Walmart and most krogers now. But it seems a bit more expensive on certain items.

Gave an extra star due to store cleanliness. Was in line waiting to be checked out. Casher turned off light and walked away as soon as I got to conveyer belt. Will be going to the one on Wildwood Rd in Salem from now on.

This store does not have any self-check-out lines! They believe in personalized service. Prices are reasoble and employees are very helpful.

I just had the best customer service at the Food Lion on Starkey Rd. The staff all had welcoming greetings and asked how I was doing, I was directed to a station that would help me right away with no wait. I didn't realize but the watermelon I picked up had a small split, so I one staff member was ringing me up, another was switching out my watermelon, another was scanning my case of water. What amazing service! You will always have my business!!!

I was always a Kroger shopper for years. Over time I have started going to Food Lion. The place is very clean and never crowded. The staff is also pleasant and friendly.

Good place, but could not find Hot Wings that were on sale in the deli. I asked about them, and the woman said she was making some, and they would be ready in 15 minutes. 45 minutes later, still no Hot Wings, and the lady had disappeared. I got tired of waiting and left.

Food lion is the best. Great staff here, the 2 managers are great, and always present helping any long lines. My wife and I's preferred shopping location in all of Roanoke. Still great year after year, does great with all COVID protocols too. Best one in Roanoke although all are way better than any Kroger!!
