Lots of beautiful animals and fish. They are very helpful in getting you set up correctly for a new pet. There saltwater selection was amazing!! Freshwater fish selection was HUGE the day I went. You can always ask when they come in and have an opportunity for first pickings. 😏They had a bunch of reptiles and really cool arachnids too! The section needed a little tidying up so you could see better, but overall beautiful collection.We always spend more than our budget, lol. Anytime we had an issue they were very good at having a solution.

I have purchased a pice of drift wood and it Floats. I called for advice on what I need to do to get it not to float I spoke to a person on the phone saying he was really busy. Didn't have time for my call very rude. They need to learn how to take care of their customers. Management needs the better training. It's a shame a local business. Is this sorry

These people assaulted my sensibilities with their low prices and excellent customer service! Most stores take the trash out the back door but I got to see them take it out the front! 10/10 would recommend! Very clean and tidy! My little hedgehog has never been happier!

It pains me to write this review for Exotics and Aquatics, a place my fiancé and I once cherished, particularly from interacting with the birds. Despite the frequent turnover of staff, we persevered in building relationships with each new face, embracing the store as our therapy place. Our journey with Exotics and Aquatics led us to explore new hobbies, such as maintaining salt and freshwater fish tanks, a passion that saw us invest thousands of dollars in supplies and marine life/ coral. However, our recent experiences have left us disillusioned and disheartened. Having purchased four birds from the store, including a green cheek conure, a cockatiel, a budgie, and a red rump parakeet, we initially encountered issues with the cockatiel, which appeared lethargic and sick, only to discover its coloring was artificial. Despite receiving store credit for this mishap, our faith in the store began to wane.Our latest acquisition, a Red-rump parakeet advertised as "9-MONTH OLD / HAND RAISED," proved to be the breaking point. Despite observing the bird's deteriorating condition over three months, we were denied any discount upon expressing interest in purchasing it. Ignoring our reservations, we paid full price for him and took him home. Early on, we noticed that the bird exhibited an unusual level of extreme skittishness and fear of humans, behaviors contradicting the hand-raised status. Drawing on our experience as seasoned bird owners, we initially attributed this behavior to a need for extra time to acclimate to its new environment. However, after two weeks passed with no signs of improvement and the bird's distress escalated to the point of self-injury (erratically flight and bumping into the cage breaking feathers) from minor sounds and movements, we realized the severity of the situation. Our concerns were further compounded when we contacted the store, only to be informed that the bird had been acquired from “a breeder" and was supposedly a year and a half old—information directly conflicting with the signage's claims. It became increasingly apparent that we had been misled not only regarding the bird's age but also its upbringing, casting doubt on the integrity of the store's practices. It has been about a month now, the bird remains terrified of everything, including the simplest things like the fruit in his bowl, which startles him. His fear has led to numerous accidents, with broken feathers and self-inflicted injuries from his frantic attempts to escape perceived threats. Rather than enjoying his presence, we find ourselves constantly on edge, trying to prevent anything from spooking him further. Regrettably, our interactions with him have been nonexistent; we are unable to touch or bond with him in any meaningful way.Furthermore, adding to the challenges, this bird, accustomed to a poor only-seed diet, refuses anything else. This refusal, combined with the absence of a leg band, intensifies our concerns about his background and neglect. This, coupled with the store's deceit regarding his age and hand-raising, has left us deeply disheartened. We never would have chosen an older bird (I know now this bird must be older than the new age given over the phone) with such profound fear and aversion to human contact had we known the truth from the beginning. The $360 we paid for him now feels like a steep price for the distress he has caused us.Despite our years loyalty, fond memories, significant monetary investments, and willingness to overlook the store's reputation, we can no longer recommend Exotics and Aquatics. The cumulative impact of our experiences, not just with this bird but with other issues as well, has eroded our trust completely. The blatant dishonesty regarding the bird's age, upbringing, and temperament has not only caused us financial strain but has also robbed us of the joy and companionship we sought. In addition, their strict no-return policy has left us feeling trapped with a pet that was misrepresented to us. It's a bitter realization after investing so much time and money into this store.

I was in need of some aquarium supplies and decided to shop local instead of at a big box store. I started off looking at the freshwater fish and right off the bat I see a tank full of dead guppies. Nothing out of the normal. The fish selection is decent and the living fish seem pretty happy. I collect my item and go to the front. No one is at the register and I hadn’t seen anyone there when I entered the store many minutes prior. My wife and I stand there for what felt like 5 minutes until I decided to just place my item on the counter and walk off. I ended up buying everything I needed from Amazon the second I got in my car.

just saw a young lady being assaulted by an owner of this store asking for a refund. Scary to hear her screams and seeing her being crowded by the workers at this store. Don’t come here!

Huge selection of items and all types of animals. Everything looked well cared for. I stopped there to purchase frozen juvenile rats for my snake. They had them in stock and the quality was fine. Price was better than some other places.

Disappointed. Saltwater selection looks neglected. Their showtanks are pristine, but the buyable livestock is poorly kept in algae / aptasia ridden tanks. I used to buy a lot from this company but their saltwater standards are in rapid decline.I take no joy in leaving reviews like this, but we’re talking about the living conditions of livestock. Hopefully they can do better.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Aquarium section was great with a lot to choose from. My only negatives were that there were bird droppings all over the floor in that section, and there were a lot of dropping in the rabbit cages. It was late in the afternoon so they may have not been cleaned yet.

This place is an amazing and cheap place to take proper care of your exotic animals! I come here often with me and my gf and everyone there is super friendly and makes us feel at home. They allow for some animals to be held with proper care and overall just a comfortable place to come visit, the next time your in need of any rabbit, fish, reptile, or bird foods, go to Bayonne and give it a try!
