If I could give a 0 or even better a NEGATIVE FIVE review I definitely would. We brought our baby in last night after a tragic accident and a seizure and all they told us was she had brain trauma!! My husband tried so hard to get approved for a Care Credit to pay the bill but our credit just isn’t close to what they would like for us to have to get approved…they told us we had the option of putting her to sleep or signing her over…they gave us the option after I couldn’t make that choice to put my baby down to take her home but also told us that it was very inhumane and that they would never recommend that. I am devastated that I will never see my baby girl again. I had a family member that was willing to adopt her and pay for her care only to find out that she passed away at their facility all by herself instead of at home where she is loved to the fullest!! I will never use this facility again for any other pet that I may have in the future! I understand that Animal Hospitals are not government funded but they could at least make a payment plan with people that don’t have the credit score to get the credit that they need for their fur babies! My fur baby is nothing short of my daughter I have children and that would be like a human ER telling me I would have to sign over my rights to my children because I wouldn’t be able to pay the bill THAT SAME DAY!! I don’t care about government funding these places should make sure they can care for animals and let the fur mom and fur dads make payments over time!! This should be a change that everyone could get behind!! Once I signed her over I thought that this SO CALLED “HOSPITAL” would save my baby girl but apparently it just took us signing her over and me and my children praying over her and handing her over to these people for them to take her off of all of the things they had put her on…once we found out that she had passed my husband called and asked if we could get her back just for cremation purposes and they told us no. He then asked if we could at least get her paw prints on a piece of paper and she told us no for that as well. This place is a joke. I understand that we made the decision to sign her over in hopes to let her live but these people could still have a freaking heart and give us a simple paw print!! THESE PEOPLE THAT WORK HERE AND CALL THEMSELVES HELPING FUR BABIES ARE A JOKE!!*RIP MARLEY-MOO*

Everyone was so sweet and caring towards my hurt doggie. It's nice feeling like they want my buddy to feel better just as much as I do. I've had experiences at other places where I felt they were just pushing pills on us, not here though. Dr Tran was a really great vet, and the staff was wonderful too.

I cannot express how helpful the staff is. They’re incredibly professional and calm. They helped my boy Conway and he’s feeling better already. The wait times are very understandable as they seen more severe patients first, as they should. If your pet had the more dire emergency, you would prefer they be thorough and take their time with your pet, so the wait times are totally fine and not too long anyway. I’m thankful this helpful group of people are to help our pets out when they need it most.

I truly cannot say enough about how impressed I was at the care, concern and attention given to my dog, Boss, during a time of true crisis. I feel the physicians and staff went above and beyond to treat and care for him. It made me feel comfortable that he was in good hands and the thorough explanations and time taken to answer my questions was top notch.

Early this morning I got a call no pet owner wants but despite the outcome of my experience with EVS they were the absolute best. From the staff at the front to the vet techs and the doctors. Every single person treated us with professionalism, compassion, honesty, sympathy and the tenderness we needed with our sweet girl Francy. I was very impressed and could not have asked for better treatment in such a terrible situation.

This is a very mixed review. So I will explain. My 5 year old black lab was rushed over to the hospital from Big Lick Vet in critical condition. The vet called ahead because my dog was on IV already. The hospital said bring him immediately "we have a room ready for him". Upon arrival I went in to be greeted by the receptionist Kim. Who didn't care at all about the call ahead and refused to listen and told me to fill out the forms before they could even get on the waiting list. I expressed SEVERAL times they were waiting for him and he was in critical need of care. She was nothing but rude in return refusing to even tell the vet we were there. Then after filling out the form we were told to wait in the car till they could get us back. Not once even asking anyone about being told they had a room waiting for him. Someone needs to train her about a little compassion for people coming to an emergency Vet Hospital. We ain't there for a good reason. If it was an employee of mine acting this way to a customer. I would fire her on the spot. After 30 stress filled minutes in the car we were called in.Now the script flipped. The Vet, Dr Wilkinson was AMAZING to say the least. I knew the minute I met her my baby boy was in the best hands. They kept me up to date on every move they made. Overnight he was cared for by a Dr Gronk. Another amazing Vet. After lots of tests and a blood transfusion the worst thing happened. My baby boy had a stroke and I had to let him go. No reason , no explanation. He was gone. Neither Vet could explain it but they did everything they could and I trusted them. Just shows you never judge a book by it's cover. First impression doesn't always matter. The "Window Witch" Kim was the last person that should be treating your customers or even dealing with them. It's not a remotely good impression for what's behind your walls in the back working to save the life's of our fur babies. They are amazing Vets and Tech's.Thank you again Dr Wilkinson & Dr Gronk for all you did.And Kim. Find a job better suited for you. Like a Truck Driver. You don't have to work with people!

Quick admittance; caring staff; excellent diagnostic judgements; understood Vets explanation of the problem. Quick & easy checkout with a knowledgeable Vet tech. A very caring empathetic attitude toward me the dog parent!

I am so grateful for the staff at EVSS for taking care of my girl after being ran over by a car. Anytime I had any questions, I would call and they answered in a timely manner. I called to check on her frequently. Despite me being a nervous wreck, they never got irritated or Ill with me. My dog Jag, (chicken) is at home resting soundly due to their professionalism and willingness to help. I could tell she was very loved while she was in there. I want to thank each and every person in this office for touching her heart. She is getting better everyday and breathing so good on her own, using the potty, and eating every meal given to her❤️

Unfortunately we had to let our lab go last night due to Lyme disease that had made its way to his kidneys. I want to say that this hospital was the most respectful, caring, and all around understanding of our situation. Even though it was heartbreaking, you all took care of our baby like he was one of your own. Thank you guys. RIP ollie 💔

I turned to Emergency Veterinary Services for my dog Ruby on a weekend afternoon when my usual vet was not available. She underwent thorough testing and received great care to determine what was wrong. I received frequent updates to help me make informed decisions about her care. The Vets and technicians clearly love what they do.

I just moved here, so my experience compares this facility to my facility experiences where I used to live.Friendly, courteous, quick. Now I am sure it depends on the day and business at the time…. But, I was used to waiting up to 8 hours sometimes (in my car!) to be seen. Your team kept it more personal, which was great. It didn't feel like going to the ER, it felt more like going to the local vet. Wait time was not hours. Staff was friendly and attentive. The vet was descriptive and helpful. She made sure everything was thoroughly taken care of, even calling a specialist for consultation. I was pleased with her attention and dedication. She was friendly and not rude!

The doctors and staff at EVS are surely some of the best in the world at what they do. They made a very scary situation as manageable as possible, and our dog Pepper was treated with a lot of love and care. We are very thankful for the hard work they put into getting her happy and healthy again.EVS also has a variety of payment options, and with the help of Care Credit we were able to get Pepper the full range of treatment and medications she needed. Without that option, we would have been put in a much more difficult situation of having to pick and choose what was done for her. We were so relieved to be able to get her help without having to make any compromises on her health. If your pet needs emergency help, please take them in to EVS, or at least call to consult with a vet tech by phone. Our animals deserve the best we can give them, and luckily the best emergency treatment center is right here in Roanoke!

We took a stray cat there yesterday who was in labor and suffering. This staff is AMAZING. Dr. Tran was absolutely amazing. I can't say enough good things. I'd also like to mention Marcie. She was so great with the cat and she walked us thru everything. We were definitely in good hands. Dr. Tran and Marcie were both incredible. The rest of the staff was great but Dr. Tran and Marcie truly stood out and shined.

I couldn't be more pleased with the vets and entire staff. We had great experiences with everyone we talked to during Sophie's stay. You all gave me some peace of mind that she was getting taken care and you had her best interest at heart. I can't thank you all enough for the care you provided.

We needed help on a Friday night. We called ahead and they told us there’d be a 2-3 hour wait, so we filled out forms online on the way there thinking that might help. We were taken back to a room somewhat quickly. Then we were left there for 4.5 hours. No one checked in or updated us at all. They only have one Dr on duty. And we weren’t high priority. I went to the reception desk 3 times as it got so long. We were going to just leave but our dog had a flare-up so I pushed the emergency button in the room and we finally got their attention. The Dr was nice and got us the help our dog needed, and she was the only one who ever apologized for the waiting.I think I’d try another ER if possible!

Everyone was so nice and helpful. Dr. Taylor Tran was awesome. She made me feel comfortable, explained everything in a way that I understood, was very knowledgeable, personable and respectful. I am so grateful for you all! I like the fact that you explained how the process would work and gave me an estimate of charges. I was able to obtain information about the care credit plan, and I was able to apply and get approved immediately online, so I was able to use it to pay my bill! Thank you!

Seems very nice but in the end of your animal stands a good chance at surviving and coming home if you don't have " a lot " and I mean " a lot " of money they don't care and just as soon your animal not make it back home it is sad but they do seem very great and then when the dollars aren't there there compassion and understanding and love for the animals goes right out the door. My son has a dog there right now and is going to loose his best friend because he can't come up with three more thousand dollars and they won't work with him and let him pay weekly no money dog is on their own. So don't believe everything you see unless you really do some checking this like all vets around Roanoke VA area and everywhere really only care about the money not the animal or the animals life unless you're throwing dollars at them. God help my son's dog because these people aren't going to unless he pays them money up front after he's already payed thousands already to so they know he has access to money and still won't work with him only way they'll save the dog or keep her there is if he comes up with another large sum of money. Sounds like extortion actually.

When our cat Raven was in a severe condition we were told on the phone that there would be a 2-3 hour wait but she would be put on the board as critical. The moment we came into the facility they took Raven in immediately to examine her, as well as put us in a private room to talk. They have a truly amazing team with members who are kind and understanding. The doctors and nurses provided exceptional care to Raven as well as worked with our finances. Because of them Raven is now doing so much better! I highly recommend them if your fur baby is in need of emergency care!

They helped my sir Bulger during a rough time . They did all his check ups which made it so easy for me . The whole staff are very attentive and excellent. Only down fall they put you in that little room to continue to wait to see the doctor .

We had to use their services when our Great Dane became ill. They took us right in and examined her and kept us up to date on every thing they did. Grace had to stay over night, and they told us we can call any time to see how she is doing. They were very thorough the whole time. If you need their services, I would highly recomend their help.

Dr. Garvey was so amazing when I brought my kitty Lucy in. Lucy was 14 and her health was declining. After she was finally able to be x-rayed (Lucy has been known to be spicy while being examined) Dr. Garvey explained the situation and my options. Unfortunately due to the grim situation my partner and I decided the best thing to do was to let Lucy go. The whole process, albeit excruciating for me at each step, was made to be as comfortable as possible. Dr. Garvey's guidance, compassion, advice, comforting demeanor....I could go on. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Garvey and the staff at EVS for the times I've had to bring Lucy in, but especially the most recent visit. It was certainly a traumatic event...but Dr. Garvey really made everything as smooth as she possibly could. Thank you for everything.

If I could have given this a NO star rating I would have. I took my dog to be seen for emergency services. Was thrown into a room and was told by a very rude staff member they would be back with an estimate. No one ever came back into the room. I was giving my dog water from the sink with my hands. While he was bleeding all over the place. After waiting 4 hours with no one ever coming into the room to check on us or our fur baby. We decided to leave. Upon leaving, I told the other rude staff members sitting at the computers on their phones we were leaving because we had been there for 4 hours with no help from anyone. Her response was “okay”. I told her we would not be returning there and told her thanks for nothing. Now I get emergencies I truly do, I’ve worked medical, law enforcement and EMS. If anyone understands an emergency, it’s me. But I also know proper bedside manner and just being an overall good person and informing people that something has come up. Not a simple apology from anyone as we left the building and brought our baby home. To hope and pray he was okay until we could get him seen at our vet the following morning. I will NOT ever be using their services nor will I recommend them to anyone for “emergency services”.

My dog ate a toxic plant. They helped me figure out he would be fine. They gave him something for his tummy and he slept it off. Given the scenario, it was an overall good experience. I appreciated them doing research on the plant he ate.

The staff here truly made us feel as though all of our concerns were valid. They loved on and truly cared for our dog and made everything transparent and easy to understand. The love showed for my fur baby was definitely an outstanding point of focus for us.

I took my cat here last night and sadly ended up losing her, but all of the staff did a great job of making it as comfortable an experience as possible for both her and me. Dr. Tran was fantastic, she found the issue quickly and explained everything very well. I really appreciate the kindness shown to us by everyone here. Thank you.

Very sweet and kind people. We've used them several times and they are always kind, caring, and professional. I am always comfortable going to them and confident our babies will get great care. Wait times can sometimes be long, but they always try their best to give every animal the utmost care.Thank you for taking care of our boy today (and the cute picture on his crate).

Thank you for everything Dr Heidi Brunk and her staff did to help with Heidi my boxer in pregnancy delivery distress. I was overwhelmed and exhausted. I had recently taken in Heidi or else she would have gone to a shelter. I found out she was pregnant. This was all new for me preparing for a pet delivery. I appreciate your help and patience with me during this stressful time that I was unprepared financially but we got it worked out. You are all special working with pets in distress. Bless you for compassion toward Heidi!

I would like to preface this by stating I teach special education for a middle school in Roanoke City Public Schools. The week before my dog had her health incident, every school in our district was shut down for two days due to threats of gun violence on social media. We were back in school on Monday, Feb. 26; my dog collapsed with a ruptured spleen on Tuesday, Feb. 27. I was already under a considerable amount of stress due to dealing with trauma crises with parents and students; then, my best friend in the world collapses out of nowhere and I have no idea what is going on. I immediately took her to Roanoke Emergency Vet where I had taken my dogs many times before for minor injuries. The response I received was outstanding in terms of both empathy and immediate action. I was greeted at the front desk by a receptionist who was extremely kind while also being direct. Then, a vet came to check my dog right away when we were sitting in the waiting area. She felt her abdomen and could tell she needed to be seen right away. She received a splenectomy within hours and had a tumor removed. We are still waiting on the biopsy results. Although it is not looking very positive in terms of a prognosis, I am certain that my dog would have passed away that day if I had not brought her in and received the amazing care I did. I know that I have a few more weeks with her because of this team and I will never be able to conjure the words to thank them for that. She is the light of my life and always by my side. I just wanted a chance to be able to prepare myself and her for our parting, and they gave me that opportunity. I cannot recommend this place and these people enough. She is sitting beside me on my couch right now at home where she belongs. I owe them everything.

Such a great place to take your pet for an emergency, when your regular vet is closed. My girl nina had a mass removal surgery and 2 days later she busted open her stitches and I had to rush her here. They went above and beyond for her and fixed her all up. I don't know what I would have done without them. Everyone was so kind, caring ,and professional. Thank you all so much
