Shopping at EarthFare is, for me, a true luxury, reserved for special needs or cravings throughout the year. It goes without saying that you can find fabulous produce, meats (wow!), and bakery items here, as well as a top-rated catering service. If I need to prepare a Vegan meal, this is where I head, as they endeavor to have a well-stocked vegetarian/vegan inventory of ingredients. If you are like me, shopping vegan is much like speaking Mandarin: I can't and I know very little about it! No worries shopping here, however, as a knowledgeable staff member is happy to help you find an item, OR stay with you through your entire ingedient list. (Everyone working here is super nice and helpful.)When beets are in season, I have to make a trip: 2 - 1lb beets cooked in the pressure cooker keep my blood oxygen happy for a week!If you have never been, do stop in and try something from their fresh juice bar to complement something else you pick out to try - pastries, sandwiches, soups, desserts, etc. will have you drooling in no time!

Moved from Richmond to Roanoke area. I was looking for something like Whole Foods replacement Smaller version, but great place for produce, bulk items , organic products. Bread is good, hot bar is good as well As a bonus there is free electric car charging nearby so I can top off my battery.

Thus location has been providing dismal customer service for quite some time. There is a young man who makes pizzas who does an extraordinary job every time I go. And he's it.The cashiers regularly talk to each other and treat you like an afterthought. The pizza bar, juice are, and deli staff are routinely RUDE and difficult to get support from... I stopped by today because the ingredients are healthy and asked if they could warm up the cold grab and go pizza slices in the oven.Two young ladies had to check in with each other and the one in greater leadership said she didn't know how to work a pizza oven. REALLY? You open the door, sister, and put a cold slice in the oven. Ever been to Benny's downtown Roanoke? Or at home? You simply put the slice INTO the oven.Both young ladies offered me the microwave.Does anyone in retail grocery in Roanoke KNOW ANYTHING about organic food and health conscious marketplace and people?????Or even pizza? Pizza isn't a microwave food if you are having really good pizza.If you live on a deserted island with only a pizza and a microwave... ok... but... SERIOUSLY!!!Earthfare, PLEASE TRAIN YOUR STAFF AND HIRE people with some passion for customer service and learning.Josh is a great manager.Sooo... Is this Earthfare or this location?And I am available for hire as a coach and consultant to teach both a passion for organic foods, customer care and service, and build your team into a rockin' group and show 'em how it's done. I love interactions with people who feel confident about their job and in themselves.This is just the pits.It cheats Roanoke and the staff to be allowed to continue to treat themselves and their customers this way.So much awesome waiting for you all. Earth Fare is such a blessing to those with food allergies and health issues. They have such a huge selection of healthy and allergen safe food, vegan, and gluten-free options. The sushi chef is so helpful and makes the best sushi. I don't mind paying a bit more for better quality foods that I know are safe for me.

I thought this was a pretty nice clean store. Good variety of healthy / better ingredient items. They have some prepared foods which I found to be good, but not great. My cashier was polite and kindly told me a little bit about the company and the other locations. Overall I would definitely shop here again.

This place is wack. Produce goes bad fast and is clearly not fresh. They often advertise deals (which are great) but often don’t even have those products. Prices are often not what they are advertised on the shelves. Have bought several products that were moldy/rancid. I was going to give 2 stars cause I like getting the 4/lb dollar beef. But I got some recently and it was super brown and off tasting, and ended up getting explosive diarrhea after eating it. ( I literally just ate the ground beef so I know it was caused by the beef, tried to eat it again, got sick again.)To top it off, the staff usually is rude or seems like I’m annoying them if I have questions or concerns.

Trying to buy groceries but the employees are closing it down and covering everything an hour before the hours on the door says they closed. Update your hours if you’re closing earlier. Won’t be coming back again.

This location seemed pretty nice, but i did notice a lot of expired products on the shelves. I'd been told that some of the staff had been known to be "racially" rude, but that couldn't be further from the truth. They just seemed lazy, and unmotivated. As a retired business owner of 6 different businesses, i can tell you that a lot of this staff needs to be replaced immediately. The food that i found here was very good quality, but the prices were WAY too expensive.......and i lived on a resort island for the past 35yrs before moving here! It seems this store has good intentions, just bad management. Overpriced products, too many lackadaisical staff, and more expired food items on the shelves then any store of this caliber should have. Hopefully a similar store will open soon, and hopefully they'll have their ducks in a row......so to speak.

This place opened to fantastic fanfare! However, it is a Fresh Market copycat. Prices are 30% higher than they should be for the same thing that could be found for 30% less at Kroger or Food Lion. Staff can be rude. That being said, they do have some unusual things like frozen venison and delicious healthy prepared foods. Because of the staff and the unnecessarily high prices, i won't go back.

This grocery store has a wonderful bakery. There is also a kitchen that provides terrific deli dishes and salads as well as soups and hot prepared foods. You can even get fresh pizzas and refreshing smoothies. The sushi there is better than any other grocery store I have shopped at.

Only half of the coffee area seemed to be stocked with product.There were no organic oats, peanut butter, or almond butter available in the bulk department. All of the store ground cashew butter on the shelf had an expiration date of July 22, 2023 - on August 2.An end cap display of honey had two different price signs ($21.99 and $8.99), but neither sign indicated what size each price was for. There was only one size of honey on the shelf.I noticed fewer products available overall from my previous visit. And lots of empty space on shelves. Only three employees were stocking shelves, one being the ASM.I was looking for Eden brand organic wine vinegar, Mother in Law's Gochujuang. Both are no longer carried. Wine was on sale 30% off for 12 bottles. As I started to fill a box, I realized all the wine was priced higher than elsewhere.I'm a former employee - it seems current management and corporate are trying to squeeze more work out of fewer workers. It's sad to see my former coworkers looking so beaten down.

Selling farm raised Atlantic Salmon as King Salmon. What a fail and disappointment when I cooked it. Fish a lot of times days old as well. Looks like Fresh Market is place to go even tho pricey for fish

Absolutely outrageous prices. I went in to check out this store because I’ve heard they have a variety of products and they are easily TWO to THREE times more for the same product than then regular grocery (not Walmart or discount). Example: Mrs. Meyers Laundry Detergent was $26.99 here and at Kroger it’s $15.99. A jar of Black Truffle Pasta Sauce was $24.99 here and $8.99 at Kroger. A bag of premium chips was $8.99 here and at a normal grocery is about $4.99. It doesn’t end there though… a simple sandwich from their deli was $11.99!A comparable at Safeway/Kroger/Publix is $6.99 to $7.99. Rainbow Lite Men’s One Vitamins 150count is $45.99 here and $25.99 in pharmacies and regular grocery.This type of pricing is absolutely disgusting and PRICE GOUGING at its finest.The store itself is nice but the prices do not need to be this high “just because you classify as a health food store”. Even Whole Foods is cheaper and while not by much that’s saying something.

While you will pay top dollar for healthy food it is so worth it!They even have Healthy Pet Food here!Was able to pick up a quick lunch at the food bar and the pizza was delicious and only$4 for two slices!

Great place! I was visiting from out of town and I'm so glad I found this place. I was able to find fresh, organic fruit and vegetables. They also have a hot food bar. Prices were reasonable.

‪I’ve been here and had high hopes, but it feels discriminating!!!! The cashier that checked me out was so rude! I also reached out to Earth Fare and did not ever get a response. So they don’t care about the quality of their stores. We said hello kindly and just started loading our items up. The cashier that processed our stuff was super rude to me and my husband and even asked us if we wanted to bag our own groceries with an irritated tone. He was behaving antsy and uncomfortable. We bought over $200 of groceries so it was a bigger haul. I had no problem and helped bag them because I saw it was a lot. But he didn’t help after I started bagging. He was just staring at us. I felt that he did not want to help us. I did not get his name. But it was very clear he didn’t want us to be at his station. He even rushed me to pay WHILE I WAS BAGGING MY STUFF.Right after our purchase, another customer came up and he helped them without asking them and his entire demeanor changed. He even started bagging their stuff without question!!!! He had a huge smile on his face. His energy even seemed more calm. I don’t want to make assumptions nor accusations, but it felt very racially motivated because the customer after us was a white woman (and he is also white). My husband is a Black man and I’m a Latina. It felt pretty racially motivated.Not worth it! Seems it is only a nice place for certain people. I am so disappointed that I had to leave a review but seeing as they didn’t even care to respond or address the issue, it is now something that I see can affect others. Be warned!!!! You may experience discrimination. :(

I acknowledge my gratitude for the wellness department handling my phone query and connecting me to a food source I’ve come to rely upon. That this grocery also staffs with such excellent people is worth noting. I met a stunning and intelligent woman named Susan who helped me on my way. Who doesn’t love a grocer? This place is certainly an anchor of the community. Still reeling.

It was nice that they had many of the items that I was looking for BUT I was surprised by how many expired items were on the shelves. The product control for the store was disappointing. I was going to alert a store employee, but there were just too many items that I assumed that it must be throughout the entire store.Highly recommend being diligent about checking expiration dates. No one wants to get needlessly sick from a trip to the grocery store.

I used to love this store as it’s the only one of its kind here in Roanoke at its scaleBut lately they just seem unorganized. I’ll come for an item multiple days throughout a week, sometimes over a week, and one section of a shelf will be completely unstocked.I got hot food the other day and some of the little plastic utensil machines weren’t working, the others were empty.These are just a few of the examples of things I’ve noticed in the past few monthsI’m not sure what’s happening and I understand there are delays in shipping times and some food item shortages right now, but good lord this store seems unorganized beyond those issues

I love this place!! I have been a #1 Customer of theirs since the first time they opened. The employees here are ALWAYS very kind and helpful. They are always very Intuitive to my needs. From the multiple greating through out the store, to asking if "i need help?", or asking if "i found everything ok?" at the register. The store is very clean,well stocked and neat. They also have a wonderful selection of fresh Produce and they have many great options of natural and alternative products. They also have a Delicious Lobster bisque soup that is to die for!!! I especially like the fact that they require masks and wear masks and take the proper precautions like having sanitary wipes available. I feel safe to bring my children here and shop with ease. I will definitely continue to shop here weekly and I give this place high recommendation's. keep up the good work guys!!

Great store for organic, healthy, and small brand items; one stop shop for all of those needs. Also, Hot Bar was delicious. For the area, definitely a must if you are looking for specialty products. If you are familiar with Sprouts, it will feel similar. Not for the budget conscious shopper though, but you will not feel you are getting gouged either.

A wonderful selection of hard to find items among the usual fare. The vegetable and meat selections are extremely fresh and copious. Prepared foods are good, but could be better maintained for the price. Soups, on the other hand, are delicious. The craft beer selection is impressive for a grocery store and even offers singles for purchase. Staff is always courteous and goes above and beyond to help customers. My only wish, like others, would be for lower prices. I understand that items will always cost more when sourced from natural, ethical producers, but wow. It's hard to spend under $50 for a small grocery visit.
