My son and I went in for a beta and a snail and came out with a 20 gallon full set up! No fault of the store, it was all me because I was so comfortable with what we were getting and it made my son happy! All 3 employees (owner included) were so very helpful and knowledgeable about all the things we needed. We got a good deal on all of our supplies and fish. This is a specialty store so some things are a little more expensive but I am confident that we got high quality equipment and fish that it’s worth the extra $!! I’m positive that we will be well taken care of when we go back to get more supplies and/or fish or if we have a problem they will be willing and able to help us fix it! Thank you all so much we are so very happy with our new fish fam!!

Always have a great time in here! They are always super friendly and knowledgeable. Always nice to go have a good conversation and look around at the fish. 99.9% of the time I get my fish here. They take great care of them and always trust them. If there is fish I want that he doesn’t currently have they will order them for me and call me when they come in. Always going back!

First time visiting this place today and I was sooo impressed and excited to have discovered a new local fish store! One of the nicest gentlemen helped me pick out some fish today and he was full of great knowledge about the hobby.. check this place out first for aquarium needs before ANY other place in Roanoke!! The tanks were beautifully kept and all the fish are healthy. Will definitely be back!!

The owner was extremely friendly and helped diagnose my aquarium issue at home. He was very knowledgeable and generously shared his experience and expertise with us.This is our new go to place for all things aquarium. They have a great selection of fish, chemicals, substrate, plants, rock, wood, essentials for your tank. Plus the knowledge shared with you if free! LolThey had the most impressive fish , the scorpion fish. That was this beautiful bubblegum pink color with glass eyes. I wish I had a larger tank or I would scoop that guy up. They have a great selection of axolotl and freshwater and saltwater fish.Definitely going back! We live in Lynchburg, worth the drive!

We purchased six peacock cichlids today from Alien Aquatics. These people are awesome. I love the fact that I can go to a store that specializes in aquatics. They know everything about fresh and salt water setups. Great people and great prices! They hooked us up with everything we needed.

We've been buying tropical fish online to populate our 300-gallon aquarium but had some mixed experiences and shipping was prohibitively expensive. We decided to look for a good local shop and found Alien Aquatics 90 minutes from our rural home. We were not disappointed. The assortment of tropical fish had everything on our wish list but one variety and the owner -- who was very patient and pleasant with us as we made up our minds -- said he could order that and quarantine before we came back to purchase. He also packed our purchases in a styrofoam cooler for the trip home. Overall a very good experience and our tank looks great with all the new fish. We'll be back.

Visiting Roanoke on my anniversary weekend decided to check out Alien Aquatics and I was surprised at how well kept and clean the aquariums were and how healthy the fish looked. Bummed I don't live in the area because I would definitely go there often. Keep up the good work on the shop. If I'm in town again I'll come back through.

No question the best aquatic store and staff in the area! Always so helpful, so many fun fish to choose from, and the employees really know their stuff! They quarantine all their new fish for a long time, and I always trust I can put new stock directly into my tank after acclimating.

These guys are fantastic if you're a newbie or even if you have some experience with fish tanks. I've only ever had goldfish and some koi, but they were able to help me get started with an easy shrimp tank in no issue! They are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and it is well worth your time to go if you need a hand.

If you love bettas but hate seeing dead and dying bettas in cups at chain pet stores, then shop at Alien Aquatics. Each betta has their own little tank with an airstone and the owners are working on getting their display tanks plumbed for heat and filtration.The staff/owners are friendly and knowledgeable to all things aquatic both saltwater and freshwater. Give them a visit!

Small store and kinda tough to get into the parking lot, but the staff is super helpful and nice. They can order fish not in stock already, and they quarantine new orders before they're put on the floor to sell. Both saltwater and freshwater available, and a great selection of Fritz products and other brands harder to find in big chain stores.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking here or seeking advice from Brian or Scott.Coral specialists! Dont bother visiting a pet store for saltwater needs, Alien Aquatics offer a wealth of knowledge and expertice specifically in coral and saltwater. Prices are beyond fair, avoid the chain store markup and corporate training... look nowhere else.
