This place is just not for me, no matter how you self-service slice it. While the prices on some items may be curiously lower than its competitors, I've never felt it was worth going through the agony of the actual shopping experience they provide.I've always viewed this Lidl as more of a social experiment than an actual grocery store. My grievances are almost purely with the checkout system.Customers are required to not only provide their own bags, but then bag their own groceries. That's a Ding an sich, but I actually can see where that COULD speed things up.But, I guess at that point...why even have cashiers? We're doing everything but stocking the shelves at this point, so why not open ALL the checkout lines and let us check ourselves out?Because that's the biggest problem with this place. Why is there always only one checkout line open? Why randomly open another line only to close it after three minutes? Then send the rest of that now closed line BACK to the (now longer) one line?What is the strategy in this? Who exactly does this benefit, and how? The whole experience feels more like Squid Game than service. I guess ultimately this shopping style just isn't my scene.

Love Lidl! Great store. Different and really enjoy the shopping experience in there. The bakery items are simply amazing. Get the chocolate croissant. You can purchase individual rolls and pastries. All fresh made on site. We shop there for meats like steaks and hamburger. Really good meat. Better than any other grocery chain around here. I also love the variety of European products available. They carry stroopwafels! Great deals on variety of items. Love going to Lidl. Take your own bags or boxes and be prepared to bag your own groceries.Updated April 2023 - Still a great store. Lots of items at good prices. Always different items. Bakery still really good. Loads of flowers and orchids. Nice amount of Easter candies. Recommend

Today it was a less day kind of lines. The watermelon slices weren't Sweet at all, but I enjoyed the sliced Mango chunks and something to quinch my thirst Good ol' PESPI Drink..Some of the products were responsible.

I have a very limited window and wish I could shop so I would come here so I could get in and out. Now it's down to one register at all times with employees that are either rude or just straight up ignore you.

Went to get advertised specials, out of the 2 I made the trip for, still spent $40, they should offer rainchecks or substitutions.10/21 - If it were not for the moderate prices and fair quality products then I would shop elsewhere. It takes almost as much time to check out than to pick out the groceries. It's rare that more than 1 register is open.

I really like this grocery store. There is no card to special savings, so the sales you see pertain to everyone! And some of these sales are really deep. For example I bought a huge pizza for 2.99 saving 3 dollars off the original price of 5.99! And the pizza was really good! There were other sales that caught my eyes as well. The produce looks really fresh and competitively priced. Also you won't wait in long lines as you would in other grocery stores since the checkout system is fairly speedy! All in all a great place to shop in the East End of Richmond!

Favorite place to shop! They have a fresh fruit,fresh pastries & a huge selection of everything. Everyone is happy with positive attitudes when we shop I like the miscellaneous bins that always change! Great people & great prices a great addition to Virginia! Oh and who doesn't love a little kids cart!

I am new to this LIDL shopping experience. For the most part it has been good. Today though, I bought two products and the prices, I believe, are misrepresented. The product in the bin has a displayed price, but it is not the exact product. The product on the displayed price label is not in the bin at all. Two of the 10 products purchased are misrepresented. Here’s an example of one. The price charged is $4.79. Here’s the product I bought with the displayed price as $3.39. The price for the product actually purchased is nowhere to be found. VERY MISLEADING. I am disappointed. Be careful as the orice of what you buy might not actually be the one displayed.

This is a large lidl compared to some of the others I've gone to. Overall they had a good selection of stuff. I ended up getting a greenhouse that I've been wanting since they had it for $50. They also had some plants for $6 that were really nice. Will definitely be back to this location!

I enjoy shopping here. Pretty good deals. Picked up coffee and Belgian beer. Picked up a storage chest and a few other items. 1/6/23 Stopped in to pickup a few items.

Not a huge selection of items, but ultimately that's what keeps the prices low. Lidl brand items are fantastic and are a lot cheaper than the name brands too. I do wish there were shopping baskets along with the carts, but everything else is great.

Lidl was good there prices are almost the same others stores but they do have discounts I paid 111 at lidi any where else I would have paid almost 200 for 4 bags.

Lidl is my go too grocery store. More limited selection? Sure. But the quality of the lidl brand products and the price of the name brand products is nothing to scoff at either. Their selection of frozen meals is excellent for the price you pay. Perfect for lunch at work. Just about 6 dollars a lunch is hard to beat just about anywhere. The quality and price.of their produce is awesome as well

First there is plenty of parking. Lidl has fresh baked goods. They carry organic food, fresh meats and chicken. The store brands are very close, in quality, to name brands. They also carry a variety of household items. The veggies and fruit are fresh and taste good. The people are so friendly and the cashiers are very helpful. Give Lidl a try. I'm confident you will like it.

Ran in quickly looking for ground turkey. Found.Picked up few items as good pricing.Store always clean.Only one register open however early morning, not a lot of shoppers,so okay with me. I was 2nd in line. Moved quickly.Young man at register very friendly.I will continue to shop here.

Awesome store! Carries products you just do not find in other grocery stores. Great prices, too! The only downside is there is usually only 1 cashier for the whole store.

The place is pretty decent, a lot of items are cheaper then opposed to Food lion by a couple cents, but that adds up. Also need the app to get coupons and discounts. Only thing I dont buy from here because it is cheaper at Food Lion is whole chickens.

The ABSOLUTE WORST Lidl I have ever been in. Definitely will not be returning. Must have a HUGE issue with shoplifters. Trying yo get out of the store after you have changed your mind to not purchase anything was a JOKE! ONE AND ONLY lane, behind the cashier was the only way to leave - all others had blue straps across them!
