Barbecue was good, but "best dang barbecue in Virginia is kind of a stretch. The sides were good including hush puppies, Cole slaw, and Mac and cheese. Price was reasonable for brisket.

I don’t think it’s the “best barbecue in VA” but for what you pay for it’s definitely hard to beat and convenient for Truckers. To top it off it’s attached to a fully stocked bar.

1st time here as a trucker n I've been passing this location for a few years but today I had to try them out while on break. But I got the brisket sandwich combo n the sandwich was tender n good... also they have truck parking for trucks.

We stopped here for gas because the petro station didn’t have any open bays. I am so glad that we stopped at smileys instead. The BBQ at this convenience store was off the charts delicious! We all had pulled pork sandwiches and not only were they amazing but there were very reasonably priced and the ladies behind the counter were very nice. I would highly recommend driving past petro and stopping here at smileys for gas and food instead. You won’t be disappointed!

Kelso & Scott were great, good drinks, good customer service very welcoming i loved it here, clean pretty on the inside good deals on drinks, good prices for the right kind of drink you will love it here I promise, stop in and you will see why i love it !!!! its a hole in the wall but best bar i've been to in a long time🖤🖤🖤

SAVE YOUR MONEY. EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE.We stopped by because of the reviews but honestly idk what people ate. We should have gone to the Wendy's next door.Brisket was undercooked. Look at the pictures.Mac and cheese unseasoned.Sweet potato fries were RAW. Idk how you can mess fries.The only thing that was edible were the ribs and hush puppies. Everything else was disgusting.And this food wasn't CHEAP either!We spent over $40 and threw all of it away.WORST. BBQ. EVER.

Saw the sign and decided check it out! Got pulled pork Carolina style and Texas style. Both sandwiches were tasty and hot. Fries were good. Service friendly. Warm enough to sit outside and enjoy! Will be back when we pass this way again!

Absolutely the worst Brisket I have ever seen. The first plate they gave me was like rotting meat. I aloud them to make it right with a second chance and it looked fresh but was like eating bored meat. The BBQ sauce was good, of course it's bottled from a different location. I saw the sign on the Highway about it being the best BBQ in VA....my hopes were to high, I'm from Texas where Brisket is a religion...I know there has to be a place in Virginia that makes good Brisket. It is not Smileys. I hope I don't get sick from their food.

A hidden gem. Husband & I stopped here just on a whim. And to our surprise the ribs were good, I like the Texas sauce while my husband like the Old Mule. OMG the baked beans and potato salad is to die for. The establishment is clean and welcoming. Henry was cool and friendly. And that our first time and we’ll back again. Today Kelsey was our server and friendly as can be. This will definitely be a spot we come to every time we’re driving thru Virginia.

Best hush puppies I’ve ever had in my life. Wasn’t expecting that! But I got the fried fish too and it was the saddest tiniest portion ever. Downright shrimpy, I’d say.

Overall the store is pretty good. Bathrooms were not to bad. Had the BBQ place inside the store. The pulled pork was ok kind of dry but I really liked the potato salad and broccoli casserole. Truck parking and fuel to.

Smileys in raphine,Virginia is the best place to eat the food I have ate the quesadillas and the salad with chicken in it is good Kelsey and henry and the other girl that works with Kelsey and Henry are the nicest people that I have met I highly recommend great atmosphere

The barbecue sandwiches are always delicious, always perfect. Grab plenty of napkins!! ✌🏻Update- 6/2023 the bbq is still off the chart good. But please put less green peppers in the baked beans.

Thank heavens for Fuel City! I tried to fill up on diesel fuel for my Volkswagen Jetta, but the BP station across the street didn't have any spouse to fit into my tank. Luckily Fuel city did. They have seating Outdoors for their Famous BBQ which you can buy inside. There are public restrooms and a sports bar. There's also station for filling up air in the tires were vacuuming out the car needed. They even had potted plants in between the fuel pump.

Stopped by on Sunday when it was snowing and got a hearty meal that warmed us right up. I got my favorites, ribs, cole slaw, and sweet potato fries, with a small side of baked beans. Oh goodness whoever makes your baked beans - I love you LOL!! These beans were sweet but not too sweet, smokey, and oniony. I didn't think I could fit another bite, but I scraped the container clean and pondered how I could bring some home (almost 7 hours away). The sweet potato fries were crisp and not greasy, cole slaw was clean tasting and just how I like it. The ribs were fall off the bone tender, heavily seasoned with a delicious dry rub. I tried all of the bbq sauces and they all worked great slathered on the ribs.My daughter had the brisket platter with macaroni and cheese, and fries. The brisket was tender, and not dry at all! The fat was rendered, but not completely which left the meat in it's own juices. Delicious! Mac and cheese was cheesy with a nice crumb topping. No nonsense, no fuss, finger licking good food.Don't forget to grab hand pies by the register in the gas station section! They are so SOOOO good, and some (because of sheer will power lol) actually made it to the folks at home. Strawberry rhubarb is nothing short of heavenly!

The food is acceptable. It’s not anything special and I don’t think anyone would call it the best they’ve ever had.The food is fairly priced.When visiting the fast food counter, the only point in the interaction that the counter person was enthusiastic or friendly was when he was pointing at the section where I was expected to leave a tip.When I got my food I thanked the guy and was ignored.As much as I try to avoid the big 3 truck stops and eating at them, I think in this case you are better off.I hate this new concept of everyone expecting a tip. Management should pay employees enough that tipping is really an option for receiving good service, not because you feel bad for the counter person.The bar/restaurant was busy with a live band playing on a Friday night.Service was not exactly poor, but the expectation to tip was clearly there and for that reason, I won’t come back. I’d rather eat peanut butter and jelly and sleep at a rest area.5 wings (overly sauced) $6Pulled pork sandwich ( not a lot of meat, overly sauced and overly processed) $8 with a small (actually small) Mac and cheese (not boxed but also lacking flavor.

A really nice place to stop on your travels. I love the ribs and mac and cheese. The atmosphere in the bar is family friendly and the staff is friendly.

Ok. Don’t get the Carolina pulled pork. Taste like it’s canned chicken.Brisket was just ok. It must sit in water all day, because it doesn’t have a lot of flavor.Now the good. The sides were really good. The sweet potato casserole was the best I ever had.The broccoli casserole was delicious.Mac n cheese was good too.And I loved the hush puppies.Wanted to get ribs but felt they were a little to expensive

Very disappointed especially for barbecue, both my sides were mediocre and cold the ribs that I had no they they weren't very flavorful the rub was good but the rest of the meat was just piss poor, and then I went into the general store which is part of the restaurant and I realized that they didn't everything was in a steam well served to the general public it wasn't a separate restaurant kitchen
