Excellent rail trail with three bridges, excellent views of the Staunton River, and frequent historical markers explaining the battle. When I went there was a large raptor hunting mice in the field; binoculars are recommended. The visitor station at Clovis has restrooms and there is a playground for kids with climbing bars and swings.

Saturday and rains soaked everything so nobody was there. Peaceful with nice views of the valley Very easy flat walk unless you walk along the river which was far too muddy for me. Easy to follow signage very well explained

Nice rail to trail and some trails around the fields. Lots of signs explaining the facts about the battlefield. As well as noting information about the local wildlife and Staunton Rivers significance.

What a wonderful state park! Rich in history and the visitor center has so much information about this region and the battle that occurred. Learned interesting facts about the confederate army and how they tricked the Union soldiers. Make sure you come experience a clean, open and rich state park! You won’t be disappointed.

My GPS took me to the entrance by the Randolph Station and Post Office. Allowed me a nice long walk to the earthworks and truss bridge. This might be the oddest state park I've been too. It's more of a private museum for confederate fans than a state park. Many of the interpretive panels were almost illegible, which I am hoping means that they are being replaced with more neutral, factual accounts rather than continuing support for the myth of the lost cause as seems to be the current mode. Nice use of the trail bed. Easy walk and nice access to the earthworks. Loved the truss bridge!

Great site! If you’re into walking, and seeing beautiful sites including the Bridge itself, the surrounding nature, it’s one you need to check out. Only downside is it is completely “biased” towards the Confederate Army. They do a good job of making the Union look bad here with the “Story”. Beautiful site though. Put your walking shoes on

Very well preserved fort and earthworks, nice walking trails. Some trails can be muddy after heavy rains.

Cute park. Trails are well kept up & easy to walk. The bridges are gorgeous & a very short walk from parking.Sadly the visitor centers (there are 2 of them) are only open Saturday & Sundays so we weren't able to go inside them.

Super clean and well maintained park 🇺🇸🔥🇺🇸🤩. The perimeter of the earthen fort walls are VERY pronounced and almost as good condition as the day they we’re built In 1864 ( amazing 😎). The old railroad bridge that crosses the Staunton river affords amazing 360 views and is a…………👁👁MUST SEE👁👁. Once across the bridge, there’s sprawling scenic views of the fields and patches of woods that pepper the landscape. You can also walk under the bridge and go down by the river 😍…..totally awesome 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌

I have stopped at the Staunton River Battlefield State park several times since it was founded. I visited the battleground first about 1976 and explored the area. It was a very secluded historic site then. As a state park now, I feel they have very well honored this battleground and also opened it to a great exercise and educational center. There are good walking trails. Plenty of shade trees. The park rangers have always been cheerful and informative.Google will take you right to it. . BUT. . the electric power plant has a sign saying , " No through traffic, power plant entrance ahead "The road for the Clover Visitor Center goes to the left from the power plant entrance. Google will get you there. . keep going.

Nice little state park with lots of solitude. They have a surprisingly large visitors center compared to the size of the park. The bridge and trails along the water are absolutely beautiful in the fall. Not much to the playground, especially for younger kids.

Came to the back from the north side of river, didn't see the main part of the park. The earthworks, bridge, and town of Randolph were all amazing though from what we saw. Plenty of bite-size history, and the land barely even felt like a state park, it was so nestled in amongst the countryside. Definitely worth a visit or just a quick stop if you're in the area.

We stopped by for lunch. Interesting place for national history. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Explained to us what happened during the Civil War. Stop by to enjoy the grounds and take a moment to learn what happened here.

Nice State Park. Apparently 700 Confederate Old Men and Children held off 5000 Union Troops at this site. Today 06/25/2022 was the 158th anniversary of the Battle

Very small battlefield, small museum and gift shop. The bridge is currently closed for repairs but should be reopen in a few months. Can see the depressions from the soldiers

Ranger was very informative of the area. Shared local history from the Civil War era.Nice place to stop for a picnic under the trees and explore the grounds. The building on site had many artifacts from local Indians. The wildlife in the area was also promoted. Nice little gift shop, as well.

The area is very pretty along most of the roads. Unfortunately the site was closed for renovations so we weren't able to access the train station or the trails during this visit. We'll be going back when it's open. We drove around the roads for an hour or so following the posted signs and our maps app.We found one plantation but it too was closed. Another was currently being renovated by Virginia (I think it was either the department of parks or historical landmarks). I can't wait until it's open to the public. It's a beautiful antebellum home with large old trees lining the drive. So my review needs to be broken down:1. Currently the drive around is 4 stars due to some deforestation along the way.2. The historical implications is 5 stars.3. The current accessability is 2 stars. There are placards explaining what happened and there are areas to walk around but nothing is open.4. My desire to see it again once it reopens is 5 stars.
