Every staff member and doctor here is awesome. I messed up the timing on my dogs medications and they were able to squeeze in a quick refill for me. They also have recently taken my very sensitive cat as a patient and they did great to get her fixed up. My cats name is Big Chunk and she is a whole lotta woman.

I’m so grateful for the help we received from VCA New Kent Animal Hospital. I called multiple veterinary practices and no one was able to get us in urgently. We were even told by our primary vet the soonest appointment would be at least five days out. From the moment VCA answered the phone they were kind and listened to my concerns. I was offered an appointment the next day at 11:30 am. I brought my dog in and was informed after an evaluation my Dalmatian Winnie may have a serious and life threatening infection of her uterus (Pyometra). The vet and staff were amazing at explaining everything and helping my boyfriend and I plan the best next step for Winnie. Although they didn’t have the equipment to perform an ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis they were happy to help us figure out our options. We ended up taking her to an emergency vet we were familiar with. The emergency vet did confirm Winnie had Pyometra and performed emergency surgery immediately. Without the help from VCA to figure out what was wrong with Winnie the situation may have become too serious before we could get her in for surgery. I truly appreciate all of the help they gave us in one of the scariest moments of our lives. Winnie is home and currently recovering from the surgery. They even called the following day to check on her after surgery.Thank you so much for your kindness and help ❤️

VCA New Kent has been my dog Simba's vet for 3 years now, ever since I was fortunate to find such a great rescue animal. The staff has always been cordial and helpful and the Drs, at VCA New Kent, have always taken extremely good care of my buddy. They take time to explain the visit and the results and always have follow up calls, after Simba has been treated for something. No wonder he can't wait to get there and is restless until taken inside. He loves everyone there. VCA New Kent will be my go to vet, as long as they are around here!

I truly cannot say enough good things about the staff here. From the front desk, to the doctors, and everyone in between. I have always been made to feel like my dog and myself were their highest priority during our appointments. They showed immeasurable kindness and compassion when I had to have my beloved pit bull put to sleep. And then provided top notch care when I adopted a heartworm positive dog. Zero gets so excited to see them, and they are always just as happy to see him. This place has always been a little out of the way for me but the people here make it absolutely worth the drive.

If i could give a negative star i would!! Their website advertises emergency and critical care but in fact does not provide this services. Call and spoke to the front desk and asked if it was okay to bring her due to an emergency and they say “ it’s best if you not” and gave us a number 30 minutes away while my dog is profusely bleeding from her foot. I called and told her that the website has false advertising and all she would do is tell her manager! Upset is BEYOND the word i would use!!

Terrible. I've lived in this area for 12 years and have brought my dogs and cats here many times, emergency and regular appointments. My cat had something wrong with his leg, thought it was broken and he was in pain. Rushed him over there at about 4 in the afternoon. Vet refused to even look at him. Instead she made the poor vet tech come out and explain things and try to find us a different vet to go to. I guess this vet is too important to take care of animals that come in. Ended up going to Mechanicsville. Turns out there was a bullet in his leg because somebody shot him. Ended up putting him to sleep. Next tme I need to make an appointment or have an emergency I will go somewhere else

I enjoy taking my two furbabies to this facility. They have always been friendly and courteous to me. I enjoy talking with the staff and vets. They have always been kind and caring to Julie and Casper. I have boarded them there several times and have been pleased with the care they were provided. I have also been pleased with the vet care they have received. I recommend trying this practice.

Best staff! Dr. Brittany has always been attentive, professional, and very knowledgeable.The only thing is it is hard to get same day appointments.Cost is very reasonable and they let you know up front what all fees will be.Such support in past when i had to pit 2 pets to sleep. Unbelievable caring and compassion.

First time visiting here. Can't go into facility due to pandemic. They come to your vehicle to pick up and drop off your pet. Everyone I spoke to was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They even called me the next day to check on our patient. I was very pleased. Great first impression!

Had German shepherds for over 40 years, they have ALWAYS been a family member to me. Always have some a lot of training with them.Stay away!!! Prices do nothing but go up and up and up. Very rude on the phone. My dog never had a problem with going to the vet till he went here. Can't tell you what happened cause I wasn't inside.No one allowed inside but yet you see them inside at every store.They don't care about how you raise your pet, it's on the way they think it should be.

Excellent vet. Can be very busy some times of the day, but they are very flexible at fitting you in. Vets are caring and competent. Costs are reasonable for both vet care and boarding. My dogs love the place -- cats tolerate it (but what do you expect?).Highly recommended.

Wish I could give a zero star!! This clinic has changed so much in the last year. We took our 16 year old dog, who had been fighting kidney disease for several months, in to say "goodbye" about a year and a half ago ... before the clinic changed hands. The Dr. & staff were so kind and made the experience as easy as possible. We just had to say goodbye to another pup - who had spent the last year with disc problems, resulting in him being unable to walk, control his bowels or bladder. He had seen a neurologist, acupuncturist & several specialists. It finally came time to let him go because he was suddenly in severe pain. I stopped by the clinic to ask when we could bring him in and the receptionist informed me that he would need to see the vet for an "exam" before they could do anything. This translates into ... "we need to be able to charge you for everything we can before we can release the poor dog from his pain". I called another vet in the area, explained the situation, and they told me to bring him right in. Our little guy was handled with care and concern and we held him as he crossed over. In the future, we'll use this vet ... one who puts the animal's welfare ahead of the mighty dollar.

Been coming here for years. But you better not have an emergency. The staff here could care less. Your dog could being dying on the parking lot and they will tell you to go somewhere. Without even checking if he is ok.

So I certainly understand the concerns with running a business with COVID-19 concerns. We have had outstanding treatment and help with all our bassets to this point and have spent many dollars with routine visits and boarding.We recently needed to board our little guy and was told his vaccine was out of date. No problem, I will set up a visit and make it happen. They can’t schedule before three weeks out from today. Same old story as two weeks ago. Hopefully Walmart can get in this business. I am not sure where all their vets went but they can board him if he was up to date. I guess when you get past feeding, water and walking the whole place has ground to a halt. I would not want to be the one unlucky vet still on staff.Service and care used to be outstanding, our experience of last months has be sub standard.Looking for a new vetRicky

I have been taking my kitties to this vet for 10 years. Dr. Engel, who is the medical director now, was my pets' vet at least six years before at another animal hospital. I was overjoyed when he came to New Kent Animal Hospital. He and his staff are compassionate professionals. I am very happy taking my babies here and trust the doctors' knowledge. If certain procedures are needed, I am always provided with an estimate of charges and it is my choice to proceed or not. Yes, veterinary care can be costly, but you are not railroaded. The staff is always willing to give an estimate on costs. All you have to do is ask for an estimate if they haven't already offered.

550.00 later and I still don't know what's wrong with my fur baby. My dog is so afraid of being separated from us but we weren't allowed to go in with him. They claim they did x-rays, blood work a fecal float. And gave him fluids. The fluids are the only thing I can verify. After they brought him back out to me, the papers they gave me didn't have his name on them, I didn't get a weight on him or anything. Just papers that told me what was done to him. So sad

I booked a last minute appointment today as I am new in town and needed my dog seen right away. The receptionists and Dr. Pan were incredibly helpful when I visited. All were friendly and willing to see that Bailey received the best care. I look forward to using this clinic for my future needs.

We have a great deal of confidence in the staff at New Kent Animal Hospital. You can tell when someone really cares about your animals. We have been taking our dogs there for 10 years and always received good care from nice people.
